- Here's a brief look at the NTS-1 and how you can play chords on it using my first user oscillator developed specifically for this little synth.
You can purchase the oscillator here: sellfy.com/p/m8woxg/ Видеоклипы
these oscillators are amazing and your videos cover the patches perfectly! thank you so much!
Question for you Tim; If you set the NTS-1's Envelope Generator to Open, does it sustain the chord?
I have seen the Drone oscillator as well, but for my intended purposes, Chords might work better if it sustains.
Edit: Purchased, and it does indeed sustain with the EG turned off. Super happy with my purchase.
Fantastic and well timed. Thank you.
Working on my yard today, I come in and there’s a new Tim Shoebridge user oscillator! A good spring day.
What an epic addition. Thanks my friend!
Thank Youe Kind Sir! Very throough and detailed vidoes. THUMBBS UPS.
Very cool and useful plugin. May have to pick that one up
Nice stuff Tim! Just purchased :) Thx a lot!!!
woot \o/ I knew the NTS-1 was great but you made it even better!
Thanks for all the great contributions to the 'logue platform! (Have you considered making the wave shape more smoothly morph between the 4 shapes like you do in One?)
Well done Tim
cool video Tim! stay safe!!
Great job!
Considering it can have multiple voices I wonder what might be possible with firmware updates.
Just purchased. Thank you! I do get digital glitches when adjusting the effects parameters however.
Happens on my minilogue xd as well. I learned to deal with it
Genius!
So far the best oscillator for NTS-1, thank you! I only have one question. If I use deep reverb and high resonance, it causes internal sound distortion. The distortion disappears if I silence the NTS-1 (decrease volume). That's normal?
High resonance will create feedback and the reverb almost echoes it back on itself. So noise seems normal. Just watch your resonance when filtering and you should be fine. 😃
I use my Prologue 16 as a midi controller 😂
I have no idea of the NTS-1 architecture, but I assume you can't receive polyphonic MIDI data to your oscillator? Otherwise could the oscillator recognise the chords that are played (even if it's limited to block chords only)?
Has it got the Major Tom Chord?
It would be nice it the banks of chord shapes were arranged such that, aside from each bank possibly forming a "compatible" set of chords, so too do all the 1st chords of the four banks, all the 2nd chords, etc. That would minimize the amount of knob turning or MIDI messages required to put together progressions. But that probably would be a nightmare to figure out, and it would mean the most commonly used chords (Major, minor, Dominant 7th) are in the middle of banks 2 and 3, which might not be intuitive.
Another way of thinking about it is: the chord shapes are arranged in a 4x4 grid. The Shape knob moves around the grid horizontally, and Alt moves vertically.
Do you think your setup scenario could be done using a launchpad to map midi CC and arrange the chord progressions into 4x4 grids as you mentioned. There’s 64 pads to use. I was thinking AUM on iPad would be able to do this.
Using unison on the XD really takes this to the next level!
how do you do that?
@@Sharkwhisperer on the Minilogue XD using Tim’s oscillator, select “unison” on the poly/unison/chord/arp switch. It adds a lot of texture.
Just bought, downloaded and installed CHORD. The WAVE parameter, to select sine, triangle, saw or square does not work as depicted in the video. It seems to be stuck on SAW, and changing the B knob seems to change octave of the notes played, not the waveform. Any suggestions?
You must somehow have the NTS-1 in a different mode to normal. How are you playing the notes? Are you using the ribbon keyboard, an external MIDI signal or else the built-in ARP? Unfortunately the NTS-1 has a rather tricky user interface, a long hold on a button can switch it into different mode compared to a short press, and it does not help that the NTS-1 user manual is terrible. The only mention of octave change in the manual is in ARP mode but I'm sure there must be a way to switch the octave range of the ribbon keyboard too. Maybe you have accidentally found that way, I wish I knew how to do it!
@@TimShoebridge thanks for your reply. I also sent you a link to a video of this behavior via your web site. It is odd! This behavior seems the same when playing the ribbon keyboard or using a MIDI keyboard. I'll keep experimenting; if I learn anything more, I'll share. Cheers!
How did you NOT get this annoying noise when powering using Usb from a PC? I cannot get this going without a horrible noise background....
Are you using a USB hub?
This is genius. Thank you! Just got one of these to “replace” a Minilogue XD I sold and this baby keeps accruing value.
Paul Burkhart replace a Minilogue Xd?
sbmphr I know, well in my case I keep the Minilogue Xd. Is no brainer
Thanks for this Tim , but comon we want this Chord Oscillator for free , the NTS-1 it's on sale in EU at 89€. , do we' have to pay 10$ for this ? Give us this present please !!!!
I need to figure out how to download these costume oscillators
Soundmangling.com 👍
good toy
so everything I hear comes from the nts 1 including effects???????
Yes, exactly.
Yeah, i never understood the ribbon pad. Monotron i get it. It was a new deal. This would have been just as good without the keypad. Maybe enough room for another feature.
Sounds cool tho, im still getting it. Just a waste of additional more functional features i think
mine doesnt have the chord option care to elaborate? if its a 3 party purchase surely that would be the first point in your video ..just saying
The link is in the description. It's $10. Totally reasonable to get chords out of this amazing little micro synth!
