Thank you Assembly was painless. This is the cutest screwdriver I have ever seen .
LOCKING TABS: Some people are confused about the locking tabs because of the illustration in the instruction manual. The black plastic bit is what slides back and forth. It looks like the opposite sides of the brown piece is what moves in the illustration, but that part is fully mounted to the board.
Thank you so much!
🙏🙏
Thank you!
Can't wait, I've been practically inhaling all the NTS-1 video's I can find since Superbooth. Already have DIY plans like a tiny CV > Midi converter that I think I should be able to fit inside the NTS-1 or maybe something that generates semi-random music and send it to the NTS-1. And I might as well finally learn some DSP programming, I've always been intruiged in it, but this would give me a nice simple way of putting my code in a piece of hardware that connects nicely with my Volca's.
So stoked!
yesss! Also preordered one and can't wait to connect it to my OP-Z!
Truly awesome product.
I recently picked up one of these (after wanting one for a while), and had an absolute blast incorporating it into my guitar rig via a midi translator.
Unfortunately, I just accidentally had the headphone/audio out cord get caught on something and it pulled laterally against the headphone jack (not very hard mind you) such that I completely lost the left channel (and thus will no longer work with the mono state of my guitar setup. I opened the machine up and found that the rear solder pad of the headphone jack had lifted off of the circuit board. I'm going to attempt a fix via the breakout nodes so graciously provided on the main board. But a word to new/prospective owners to treat the nts-1 VERY DELICATELY, as the fragility of the on-board solder joints can become an issue very quick.
These small Korg devices are IKEA for electronic musicians :D
I'm really greatful for this video! I'm sure I would have sorted things out on my own, but it feels so much better looking at someone who knows what his doing first!
Thank you!
You are simply a genius!!!!
To be honest, I was afraid to put it together..... but
The simple way how you explaining the whole thing is amazing.
Put it together with ease...
Can't believe I did it 😅
Thank you very very very much.
Many regards from Chris Bunch of flowers music
Thank you for this tutorial! Just put mine together while watching.
Thank you! You just helped me assemble my little Korg.
Mission accomplished! BIG thanks!
Great idea to power it with a charging brick. I love a mobile synth.
The ribbon connector locks were already locked, so I had a hard time understanding what was wrong.
Cheers mate, your comment helped me to figure this out :)
mines locked how do i unlock it
@@camerontaylor7561 push the black things
Thx, got my nts today 😍😍😍
Looks fun. 👍
Pull black lock tab out like a drawer...slip cable in (shallow)...close 'drawer" (pulls cable in)
2:36 - I have no idea how you slotted the front panel on so easily, i cant get mine on at all. Its like it doesnt fit.
Merci, parfait
Thanks !
Snugging ! :-)
Wow 😻
I like snugging things!
Nice.
This is a much better concept than thee volcas...
Yeah boiiiiiiii
I want !!
Whats the possibility for us to modify and extend the controls? In case we want to add joysticks or sensors like proximity/accelerometers/gyro.
It looks amazing! I wish it had MIDI Out tho. Hate to be that one guy.
Small tip. The edge of the PCB parts you break off to build the case - the edges where it is broken off, tho straight as a razor, feel sharp and somewhat coarse at the same time (glassfiber?). It is not very nice to touch.
To fix this i was thinking of using some fine grade sandpaper or maybe a file. As i was pondering this i look at my coffee cup and remember that the bottom of a ceramic coffee mug can be used as a knife sharpener in a pinch. It is the "unglazed ring" on the bottom of most stoneware coffee cups that would do the sharpening.
So i took my coffee cup and gently rubbed it with the length of the PCB edge and after just 5 or 6 careful "rubs" it is as smooth as glass.
I used a plastic kit sanding sponge for mine
Pretty cool trick and observation. I didn't know you can sharpen a knife with a cup, but seems logical now :)
Ribbon cable connector: On my unit the lock in tabs for the ribbon cable was already pushed in. Took a while for me to understand that was the reason the ribbon cable would not slide in.
When playing on the ribbon srrip alone minus keyboard etc can you lower the note / octave ????? Thanjs
I'd like a mobile option to sequel and record like mobile app or nu text sequencer companion
Just finished assembly. Tiny screws are the devil!
announced nearly half a year ago - will it ever ship to any store? It looks sooo great!
Henning Sprang just got mine a day ago.
got mine right around the time you posted this! :-)
why doesn't it just come pre-built?
looks cool; is this out yet? Also is there a software to save presets? And are there any tutorials that show what is compatible with the NTS1, as far as custom oscillators and effects? It seems capable to run the same ones running on the Minilogue XD, is that accurate?
It’s definitely out. Finally got mine shipped to me yesterday. Going to assemble it tomorrow
just bought this. your video seems good but i , and several other friends, cannot get the ribbon cable located...it simply will not go in...........
Make sure the ribbon connector locks are unlocked. Mine came locked.
How do you break the chassis it so easily??
SN# 000011 ! Noice!
Looks really cool, but ... when did "snug" become a verb?
Can I record this instrument on my computer? Thanks
of course. headphone stereo output to whatever you have (PC line in, interface, mixer...)
I had no luck with this assembly - I wasn't able to put in the lower side screws as they were touching the bottom of motherboard and I was afraid of damaging it - I followed instructions on this and other videos and can't figure it out
I had to loosen all of the lower side screws and open up the sides a little before inserting the PCBs, then carefully straighten the corners and tighten the screws
Very nice Video with a cool little kit, but with 1 major mistake. I do not see the person assembling the unit wearing a wrist strap to ground himself again static electricity damaging the sensitive Quad flat pack Integrated circuits on the PCB board . This could lead to the unit malfunctioning right from the start, or possibly in the future.
sorry, should read "against static electricity damaging"
totally easy to put together, very clear instructions, thanks Korg (but by the way, there word is "orient," not "orientate." :-)
It can be both. Orientate is more commonly used in British English.
@@myblueextremes1526 "More commonly used in British English than orient, while the latter is the more frequent of the two in American English. Orientate is commonly regarded as an incorrect usage in American English." --Oxford English Dictionary
Cool!
Beyond me why there is no credit card style powerbank below the PCB.
Really hope that Korg is smart enough to make an editor app for this to work on iOS and Android. If the editor software is only for PC/Mac desktop, that would be an absolute failure. Many of us musicians are 100% all on our iPad Pros for music.
It could be a virtual machine in Gadget....
That would make sense for a lot of people, but data transfer is mainly there for people who want to learn programming their own custom FX and oscillators. So I would assume Windows/Linux/Mac editor software would be the main focus.
But maybe they will make an SDK available, just like with the Volca Sample, so people can develop apps for other platforms.
Just get a surface or a laptop . I would never start to build my setup based on a mobile exclusive operating system. Soo many limits.
As cool as that would be, I wouldn’t count on it. Then again, Korg has developed many iOS apps, so it isn’t out of the question. If the multi-engine takes off, I could see it becoming a reality.
Why the hell you dont show that nest for ribbon is already locked!!? I bend my ribbon! :((
What about an optional second board with three more voices? Just saying 😅
Snug it
Pausing this makes the video become too dark to see what’s going on, also there’s play icons all over the darkness. It’d be better if there were a way of pausing or stepping through a video without it plunging into darkness, and being covered in white triangles.
Tap on the screen in any blank area. I discovered this not too long ago.
@@a_nick_t it's okay, I bought one & did my own unboxing video: ruclips.net/video/a7l6eSL-LDo/видео.html
Instructions unclear. Not working. I tried snugging it, but I don't know what a snug is. I decided to do various things that may be a snug. 1)Made a cup of tea. Conclusion=not a snug; no sound.
2) looked at a tree for 5 minutes. Conclusion=not a snug ; no sound. (Maybe needs longer).
3) Talk to a stranger. Conclusion=not a snug; no sound. (Stranger unsure what a snug is, nor is the policeman I met after).
4) Knocked on a wall. Conclusion=not a snug; some sound. (Thought noise oscillator may be working, crisp drum sounds but it was the sound of me knocking.
I'm at a loss Mr Korg. Tomorrow I plan to befriend a squirrel in my pursuit of the snug, maybe then I can use some reverb. Does reverb work with my everyday speech? And does the delay work on my body movements as well as my voice? If I use ensemble do I become more than one person? I don't think I'd like that very much.
The bundle is full of software....ozone skoove m1 gadget module!!!!!!
From Izotope?

Excelente vídeo, te felicito. Aquí una explicación básica del NTS1 en español latinoamericano: ruclips.net/video/ieeKop0JUQo/видео.html
is this Korgs answer to the Behringer Crave? Compare both synths and you will see that the NTS-1 is overpriced.
Crave is analog semi modular with no fx man. They're totally different utilities
This is a serious amount of bang for the buck, it's just that Behringer set the bar insanely high as they have much bigger production facilities than the competition. Nobody can compete with Behringer prices. Normally for this money you only get a multi FX pedal that only does 1 effect at a time. Here you get 3 effects ánd a wavetable synth. And the possiblity to write your own oscillators and effects and upload them. It's insane value. Combine this with a Keystep and you got a pretty powerful portable beginner synth for under €226. Insanity.
(The Crave is also insáne bang for the buck. It's basically a Moog Mother 32 in a different form factor. I highly recommend either. With the Arp and Sequencer it's a great little synth too. But when it comes to sound design this NTS-1 is probably a lot more powerful.)
Orientate. 😏
Please note the warning on the package stating "cancer and reproductive issues" 😬
Loving mine though 👍
