Nice to know there are special ed teachers who truly understand the meaning of an IEP.
I just discovered this today. I know this woman, Meg Kersten Randall. Her mother is my friend, Linda Edwards Kersten. She has some important things to say about teaching learning disabled children. I wish someone like Meg had been around when I was raising children.
1:20am and I hit a brick wall with my assignment due in the morning on how different learning theories could be applied to children with different needs in order to achieve successful learning. May be a real short video but this really made things a lot clearer for me. Brick wall gone :) Thankyou!!
This is really helpful..... I'm not a teacher, but am a mom of a child with Epilepsy and Dyslexia, and this video was very informative. Nice to know what teachers can do to help me to help my son at home.
Hello and thank you for this video, I was on a 44 week office administration course and had to pull out after week 13 as the tutor we had was not nice plus I was told I would have help but did not receive any. I am going to get a campaign up and running where special needs assistant teachers need to also be available for adult learners on adult courses.

I think we should focus on healthier births ultimately. What people think is healthy and the reality of what a healthy fetal development is can be very different.
but what about those premature babies who like me end up with Learning disblity since I was born at 27 weeks which is why I received special education help especially in Maths now I'm stuck working in Supermakets or service jobs how do you deal with the unhealthy kids it's not as though u can shove me back into my mom's womb the best is too dealy brith which Doctors tried to do for me but failed so if it worked out I would have been born on January 2 1993 with less problems possibly since even one day in the Womb makes a difference
I wouldn't say you're stuck working there. You should look into brain exercises as part of programs now being offered for people. That, along with lifestyle changes (eg diet, exercise, compensatory strategies) can make considerable or drastic difference for people with LD's. You could very well surprise yourself.
Jizz Epees Pizzeria like i said one day in the womb makes a diffrence to your devlopment those are the words of the Doctors who spoke with my father in 1993 im guessing the information is probly the same today diet and compensatory srategies etc. cant make someone like me who can barley write or spell who has a history of medical problems. and Learing difucties avereage . even new studies from the UK and Canada point out that those born before 32 weeks earn less money less likely to own a house and more likely to be single i hate to say it but i ended up being one of those people.
Studies also show that the brain is plastic and can become more efficient.
Jizz Epees Pizzeria im not saying all premture babies will be poor at Maths and have severe problems but a lot of kids will like i did that study from the UK i told you about is saying on the whole most premture babies will probly end up with some disblity and a poor qulity of life thats all look at Newton he was born 3 months premture in the 17th century and become a Scientist in a era where giving brith to a healthy child was dangerous let alone a premture born child where most preemies probly died in the 17th 18th and 19th or early 20th centures in fact according to Newtons mom he was so small that he could have fit into a Quart mug. and he was not expected to live beyond a few hours. athough he was born 3 months premture i was born at 27 weeks so i guy like Newton was much more devlopted than i was 3 months is comptely diffrent from being born at 27 weeks. in Newtons era i would have died

Hi Eileen, The great thing about teaching these students in the regular classroom is that they DO learn to function in a varied or "real life" setting. Pulling students out of the class for extra help on a regular basis can lead to learned helplessness and can be detrimental to growth. Inclusion methods work to give students strategies to cope in a mainstream class while receiving the support they need to be successful. Thanks for watching my video and best wishes.
