I just like your videos very much! They are super informative and more relevant to what a new teacher is experiencing. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Sped Assistants are a big help! Assistants are constantly helping us file and collect data for students as we are responsible for collecting this information. Assistants help with behavior especially if they have a good relationship with the kiddos ( help folloiwng behavior plans). Preparing for transitions are helpful, making sure eveyrone has what they need to land and launch. If you are tech savy helping with log ins and log offs and much much more.
I’m so sorry you had that experience. Being placed in a category that doesn’t truly reflect your abilities can be incredibly frustrating. Every student deserves to be seen for their strengths and potential. Thank you for sharing your perspective!
What was the questionnaire about? What kind of questions can be asked? Kindly explain. I have been selected as a spl ed teacher starting next month. I am a RBT certifies candidate with no teaching experience. Please share resources which can help me.
My questionnaire to the parents was about their child's likes/dislikes, strengths/weaknesses, etc. Things will help me get to know the student better! I hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching! 💕
That is so exciting!! I have 2 RUclips videos all about helping special education teachers practice and be prepared for their interviews if you want to watch those! Good luck with your interview! ❤
I decided to listen to the video in order to find out why my daughter was incredibly unhappy in special education. I think the video helps me understanding a bit. Not teaching anything academic the first few days is cruel to students. It is perhaps not cruel to all students, but it is cruel to every child who already knows that they love learning. The teacher sends a strong signal to academically oriented students, namely: "I don't care if you learn, you don't deserve to know anything about your own education. Here it is all about following my rules and not about your education". When my daughter was finally out of [contained] special education she reacted like someone coming out of a prison. She started to share what she had learned in school on a daily basis, and she progressed more per month than she had done per year in the contained class room.
I am incredibly sorry that you had this experience. The purpose of this video is to remind teachers that getting to know your students and building relationships is INCREDIBLY important. Especially from day 1. I wish your child the best in their future. ❤
@@PerkyFruitForTheD I personally love doing group work and having my students work together since a lot of our students typically need to work on social skills. I love having tables where students sit together in groups rather than individual desks.
Congratulations on your new job!! You will do amazing! The first year is always the hardest, but you will get into your grove! Make sure you join my special education facebook support groups: activiteach.org/facebook-support-groups/
