Eine Frage zur Anzeige der Fahrgeschwindigkeit: Wie wird dieser Wert gewonnen? Dieses Signal ist im Film vor allem bei langsamer Fahrt sehr instabil. Man könnte die Geschwindigkeit (mit Hilfe der Triebrad-Durchmessers) stabil aus dem Bläser-Schall gewinnen. Für Messung bei Talfahrten ohne Dampf ließe sich die Spurweite nutzen. Wie lange braucht ein markanter Punkt im Gleisbett, um im Bild bei gleicher Entfernung von der Kamera einen Weg in der Länge der Spurweite zurückzulegen).? Die Angabe der Gleishöhe über Meeresspiegel braucht eine größere Dämpfung. Die Lokomotive ist kein Ziegenbock.
It is taken from GPS on the camera. Unfortunately when view of the sky is blocked by hill or even vegetation, GPS signal can get distorted and precision of both positioning, speed and altitude can go crazy. Of course in tunnels there is no GPS reception, so especially in tunnels You can get quite crazy speed or position information. Works best on open terrain with good view of the sky.
As said above, it's a function on the camera, or camera-phone. It's most often GPS based, but sometimes also works via your phone signal. As you might understand, driving through dense forests, mountains and tunnels is not the best for any signal. And this results in the system not being able to properly calculate the speed, but also the height above sea level and direction are off. The sturdy steel nature of the engine might also have had some impact on the signal.
