Thar has become so much friendlier but since the access to the second row isnt as easy, some people still shy away, especially those who intend to use it as a primary vehicle. Scorpio N on the other hand can be quite a handful on the tricky terrain, but if you replace the bumper with some proper offroad bit, it can do quite a bit more. A lift kit will further enhance its credibility off the road, all this without sacrificing much of its people moving capability. Given the trend, I am sure someone somewhere is already preparing "India's First Off-road modified Scorpio-N"

Scorpio advantage will be seamless roof vs the fiber. Have dealt with fiber roofs over the yrs...those do leak periodically. Sun does things :)

Also IMO Mahindra will target better approach and departure angles with Thar than with Scorpio. Not to mention Scorpio is top heavy while Thar is wider and more stable with lower centre of gravity. Although i am not sure about this, but Thar also has superior/more capable 4*4 system than Scorpio N. Thar 5 door will find more customers than Scorpio N and 3 door version. Just like 5 door Bronco and Wrangler sell more.
I would just like a truck version of scorpio N. It would look great because we dont like the back design of scorpio n but i just love the big daddy front and the long hood it will dominate the many market will are already rooting for the older version of scorpio truck and might got successful this time in India too. I will choose scorpio over thar because scorpio is better when it comes to seat capacity. When we have some holidays then we roam around with families. So, scorpio is scorpio, thar is thar. Both car build for different purpose.
Thanks for the video, appreciate the effort. But i would say go to same spot and have 4-5 obstacles with N and Thar. Let it be real to show how both perform, also mention why one winning or loosing over other. That video will be blockbuster. You have both the SUVs and offroading studio also so you can make it.
I've done a far worse track (well, no track - just jungle terrain) on the way to Bob House at Pawna dam from Pune. The GPS had led me astray. I did it in a Swift diesel!
Thar lacks diff locks against the grukha. Yes Gurkha's problem is the ground clearance but it's diff locks make it more capable than thar if lifted and many have done that. It'd be fun to see 5d versions of both against each other.
What Gurkha can do with its diff locks, Thar's good articulation along with MLD/BLD manages comfortably. But that articulation gives Thar a bumpy ride i.r.o Gurkha's plushier one. Thar scores in GC dept.

THe problem is actually SCORPIO n's Low GROUND CLEARANCE, THAR has a very good advantage in that matter so Thar is good for offroading tbh
