@@SirKart as far as I know from the insiders ( an ex Mahindra employee was a part of my team ). Most of the work on the car was already done. Bose mostly reviewed the final product. It is very difficult to tweak design elements for close to the deadline as vendors need to completed their DVPV requirements. Maybe a few basic design changes here and there, like colour or minor material tweaks. Changing major design elements means that the RFQ needs to be resent to the supplier and entire process needs to be repeated. For example the tail lamp for example. When you change internal requirements the supplier needs to run a feasability study, resend his estimate and run some validations tests again. It has an impact on his tier 2 and 3 suppliers.

I’m looking at Z8L AWD D AT. Hope the pricing is competitive. Driver drowsiness alert is a big plus apart from Sony system. You don’t realise when you are going to fall asleep when you are wheel during long drives. On the flip side in dilemma Xuv700’s Adas is great. And a must have feature fast fwd 5 years. Problem is the waiting period there.

    • @himan6665

@@CaptAra Totally buy your viewpoint but to me Z8L doesn't offer anything extraordinary for that extra price. I was looking initially for Z4 as it had both of my requirements AT and 4WD but it doesn't offer sunroof because of which I had to go for Z8. Sunroof isn't my requirement but I need it now to showcase someone who use to flaunt it. 😂
Edit: Sorry I just got to know Z4 doesn't have AT. So Z8 is the automatically the only choice. Glad now that there's no confusion.

Mahindra may suddenly start calling itself the daddy, cuz socially certain daddies do buy the classic Scorpio... But it's actually the Safari, which holds much more credential to be the daddy of SUVs, and would have retained that claim.triumohantly had Tata given it the 4x4 system.

    Pros ( that I liked )
    - Really loved the design , the long hood , the volvo tail lights & those headlamps 🤩🤩
    - Use of chrome is really on point✌✌
    - Awesome road presence 👌👌
    - Good 18" looking alloys , but 19" would have been gorgeous 👀👀
    - As mentioned , the main USP , I think is ride quality
    Cons ( things I didn't liked )
    - Dark brown leather upholstery looks a little offside , I think instead of dual color ,they could have simply gone with single color scheme like in xuv 700 .
    - as mentioned a 5 seater would have been better .
    - I personally think that the side opening tail gate is a little old school becoz now they are providing front facing 3rd row , so a normal upwards opening would have made more justice .
    - No ADAS ( not a con as such , becoz that is reserved for THE BIG DADDY of THE BIG DADDY i.e. XUV 700 ) 😂😂.
    - I think the squarish head rest + the wide seats ( instead of big seats ) makes it a little less roomy and might be a little fatty 😅😅
VERDICT - The cons are not as such disappointing , they are actually very subjective and to sum it up , the COMMANDING ride height , ENGINE refinement and after all MAHINDRA's RELIABILITY IS UNQUESTIONABLE

The only reason I am not considering the xuv700 is the white upholstery. My toddler has the ability to make any light color interior dirty in less than 1 min. He literally wipes his chocolate covered paws on the car seat 😅

Precisely balanced review, calling out the things for what they are. Scorpio must have done better on equipment and space for the money it will ask for at the top end; and a 5 seater would have made more sense with more room in 2nd row and the boot. Its a good update but while Mahindra has moved miles they have felt short by a few hundred meters from making this a quintessential D-segment competitor.

First things first, although there is some similarity between this and the outgoing model, I personally need to convince myself its an evolution of the same. Its visible only from a very few angles. Don't get me wrong, I like the overall design but something about the rounded snout, it just doesn't work for me. Also the tailgate, it kind of breaks the design to be honest. And yes, IMO its more of Xylo than Marazzo. The design has XUV , Xylo in the mix esp the rear three quarters. But it works. I am sure most if not all will find it appealing overall.
The boot is actually better than what i imagined from the first look video. The hinges could have been moved a bit to the corners to offer a bit more space but I am sure they had some engineering constraints. No AC vents for the third row is a glaring omission. The tiny rear AC vents don't do much in a hatchback, and the Scorpio-N is at least 3x more volume to cool. They could have just added vents if not blower controls too in the roof for the third row. Also they could have provided a 12v port at the rear. Most vehicles get it in second and third row too, another miss.
7:30 does the 'Navigation' on the speedo use in built maps or does it use Android Auto/CarPlay? I don't know anyone personally who uses on board navigation that comes with a car, any car for that matter. It would be sensible to get Google Maps or something equivalent ( i know infotainment does support it, I am just talking of the MID on the speedo).
7:49 OT! Whose good boy is that? SuperCute!!!
8:42 The rear part of the stalks, that seem to house some kind of rotary toggles, the housing seems to have sharp edges.
Also Scorpio gets mechanical rear diff locks and BLD at the front right? If I am not wrong the Thar gets BLD at both ends right?
From what I can see Mahindra has purposely cut out important things to keep it from cannibalizing XUV7OO's market, which seems fair since they are closely priced. But major omission likes lack of proper cooling for third row, no 12v at the back (which can be sought aftermarket) is not something Mahindra should have done.
The funny thing is, Mahindra went ahead of Tata in the segment with XUV7OO and now this. Where does that leave Tata with Safari and Harrier? Indians love gizmos and features of which Tata vehicles offer less and now with Mahindra also sorting out ride and handling which was the USP of Tata (at least ride was for most part, handling got better later), I wonder if Tata is too late to consider upgrading its big SUV line up.
As always, I liked the way Karthikeya has reviewed the Scorpio-N too, though I wish off-roading was covered a bit more. And also, camera from the backseat kept saying 'Hello Bhai' 😆
    Good job guys :)

@@SirKart I'll leave you with this quote from Jezza: “I’m not employed to think one thing and say something else. Am I supposed to recommend all cars that are made here, irrespective of their price, performance or quality? Because if I am, all of you must go out tomorrow and buy a London cab." You are entitled to your opinion but Clarkson did what many auto journos didn't dare. And he didn't care if it was British or not.
