This video is a great demonstration but WARNING to those of you trying this for the first time: set your iron on LOW !!! other wise you will risk melting your carpet fibers! do not leave the iron in one spot for more than 2 SECONDS at a time, just keep the iron moving to prevent burns. I have done many carpet repairs due to this error.

Joann Thomason I should have read this beforehand..I now have paper bag fused with my carpet in about a baseball sized patch...where the wax was barely noticeable before (smaller than a dime-sized area). Now, I don't know how to get the paper bag off..looks 1000 times worse.

Dude i know i shouldnt laugh and im sorry but that shit is funny as hell just picturing your reaction when u turned a tiny spot of wax into a burn lol, reminds me of when i was like 5 or 6 and playin wit matches burned a kleenex and burned my carpet i tried to hide it from parents theb tried to lie sayn it was mud haha

    • @joannthomason385

sounds like your fibers melted and fused to the bag. Unfortunate but a common outcome for those who try to FIY. I wish this video included how to test carpet fiber to determine acrylic, nylon, or blend. it makes a huge difference. Acrylics can not handle much heat before melting, nylons are a bit more resistant and would advise to use a hairdryer for this process. I believe this video is demonstrated with typical nylon blend carpets more resistant to heat.

Good advice but I think it depends on the type of carpet. Man made fibres will obviously be more heat-sensitive. I used the method on a wool blend berber type carpet, iron on full heat, no steam, and it worked like a charm!

This is amazing!!!!! I poured so much burning wax onto my carpet and this took it ALL out. It took quite a few paper bags but this got it done!!! I was in such a bad mood and now finally I feel better :)

Sweet! This really worked on my carpet. I used a pretty thick brown paper grocery bag and it worked like a charm. I was worried about Amy Laukhuf's comment. I think the trick is to move fast and make sure the carpet constantly gets some relief from the iron.

  • @ryanaromero

i just tried this , and it works great!...some key advice... make sure your iron doesn't touch your actual carpet at any time, for it singe it...

Too Funny! I also heard the beeping and could have sworn it was one of mine, but after searching the whole house there wasn't anything beeping. So it was totally this video that was the culprit. Good stuff!

Thank you Mr. Simeone! I had a large quantity of wax spilt on my carpet and this method worked perfectly. I used common since to not overheat the carpet on that last step and DID NOT melt or burn my carpet. To all the people who did, be more cautious.

Thank you thank you thank you! Managed to get a HUGE candle wax stain out at 3am before my parents even found out (thank god for the internet!).
FYI Found I didn't need the Bionex or equivalent, I did do this method literally 5 mins after the stain was made though so that may have made a difference.

This worked like a champ for me with two really bad wax spots. 3 bucks for some brown paper lawn bags and I was good. The only thing that I would change is to adjust the heat setting gradually until the wax starts to melt. Thanks!

Thanks for the help Nick. I ended up using a paper towel instead of a brown paper bag. It worked well all the same. Pretty easy, but for future reference you should assume your audience isn't experienced and tell them to use medium heat or lower.

most people i visit with candle wax on the carpet have used this method and now have an iron burn where the wax was. instead of using an iron and brown paper use a hair dryer and white towel. less risk of burning the carpet .

it is assumed you will use a towel you intend on discarding, however you could try to remove wax from towel by pouring boiling water over the wax area do this outside somewhere you don't care wax gets on, rinse and repeat. let me know if you succeeded.
