"Screw you after 30 years" !

He went back home and everyone was gone, the kids don't want anything else to do with him. The wife had a 🔴SECRET🔴 bank account and left him🥴. The irony of the story is that life did end for him. He jumped off the 🌉 Golden gate bridge. People have always thought they live in the most volatile time. The biggest historical moments are happening right now. The world is ending in their lifetime. Most people think they are special and special things will happen to them. They won't. We live in the most stable time of history so far and the world is not ending. All we have to do is be nice to each other and work to improve the lives of the less fortunate.

Had much the same experience back in the 90's. An end of times group were awaiting the end at midnight on New Years eve in the top floor of a Sydney building. The media had heard of it so plenty of rowdy Sydneysiders were drinking and yahooing on the pavement below. At midnight, after the rowdies had done the countdowns and then began ironic booing, the cultists left the building looking very disappointed. There is a brilliant "Beyond the Fringe" skit on such cults. It ends with them arranging next weeks' meeting and saying, "Oh, well, well get it right some day."

when you clarify to people that their resources for gaining knowledge are illegitimate resources for getting trustworthy knowledge, it hurts them.
In driving classes, the first day of class is always the same, people argue what their daddy told them they're supposed to do while driving, while the instructors tell them that these things daddy said to do are often illegal and dangerous.
Nobody wants to hear that Daddy was wrong or even lied about law or something that he told you that you MUST do according to him.

I'm gonna go on a tangent here and comment that this is one of the problems that religious people often times face. If you take away their religion, they genuinely feel they have nothing left. Which is why I think religion is still so widely practiced.

    • @whothehellarewe

What genuinely unsettles me is the people who attribute their morals to their religion.
Like, the only reason they don’t kill, maim, and rape is because God told them not to, and hell is a scary place - so, they’re only not doing it because of a threat.
Meanwhile they seem to turn up their nose at people who don’t do the above because of _basic, ingrained human empathy._
      It’s sociopathic.

IT should be noted that there was a Carrington event level solar flare that occurred in 2012 and missed us by 9 days. Humans are never on time for anything.

Most people are tired and depressed with life. We've been bullied, manipulated, used, and abused. Most of them feel like the only end to the suffering is if the world ends. You can see the same thing from people who pray that WW3 and SHTF to kick off.

its because there was so much information and noise in the metaphysics community about 2012. the thing is, the event did happen its just not what we thought. it was a shift in consciousness, to 51% positivity in our collective, for the first time in thousands of years. and that change started a 13 year window of transformation of negative beliefs, which need to be cleared by us, to allow for higher frequencies inside us. The window is nearly complete and after this should soon be a human ascension event. like we would be able to get information just from our minds, therefore no more need for the internet. phones, gps, wifi, 5g - all the things damaging us, eventually no need for money since manifestation and syncronicity will be far superior.

January 1, 2012... That was the date we watched the 2012 movie at the cinemas. I was a kid back then, so I thought the year 2012 was actually going to be the *"End Of The World"* literally. I still remember when everything freaked me out and got me scared and anxious that year like whenever the clouds covers the sky and thunders starts roaring, I always assume and ask my relatives, _"Is it going to be the End Of The World?"_ My family members got fed up with me because I used to always ask the same thing whenever something is happening in the sky. I guess that's what I get for watching too many End Of The World videos in youtube as a kid.

People need adversity to define our own narrative. Maybe it’s just because we’re used to that feeling of impending societal doom, but anyone in actual utopia would be miserable because they would have no one to villianize. Even if the villain is the universe itself, “hey at least I don’t have to change anything.”

That’s because most conspiracy theorists want their apocalyptic, dystopian fantasies to be true. They get to feel special because they “know something that most people don’t”. Many will probably also have fantasies about life after most of mankind has been wiped out and have some idea that they’re going to be treated like kings in that world because they fought the good fight when no one else would.
A little amateur psychology brings me to the idea that they didn’t get much paternal bonding when they were kids and probably had cold/distant parents. Hence they have a desperate need for affirmation and to feel special. Online ‘communities’ also give them a sense of belonging, or, family.

Many people thought the world would end, some killed themselves before the date, some sold everything they got for nothing, some got into crazy debt as they didn't thought of paying it, I was like 11 at the time and all I did was to pray for the world not to end, and my parents didn't believe it so we didn't suffer any consequences.

Momento Mori... one of the basics for Stoicism, is a reminder of your mortality and a call to live each day as if it could be your last (since it could). By meditating on your demise, you can live life more fully.
