Yeah I discovered the depth map about a month ago and it's been a game-changer. I do portraits, and it's great to be able to manipulate the subject and background separately. Not that I couldn't before, it's just the depth map makes it SO much easier!
Totally the best "teacher" in Photoshop...Adobe should take lessons from him. Is the only one that also explains the short commands in all is doing. Congrats.
You are an absolute pleasure to watch, Unmesh. You make learning PS so easy to understand. I watch all your videos, even if it has nothing to do with anything I need to learn with what I do for work. I believe I said this once before, but you are like the Reading Rainbow on Photoshop which is a huge compliment because people my age (mid-40's) loved that show when we were kids. LeVar Burton made us want to read, and that is exactly what you do; you make us want to create.
nice tut! Super cool granular mask selection. FWIW, selecting all layers and then turning it into a smart object before applying camera raw would be less destructive. That merge to top sequence essentially made everything below it uneditable after the fact. You would have to delete and merge to top every time. Merge to top is a great temporary move for selections or effects, but only to then delete it. Otherwise everything below it wont be playable anymore. It creates commitment to the edit with no going back, or rather at a loss of workflow. Smart object workflow definitely feels like inception, a photo within a photo, but it can at least retain every step in the workflow. Thanks for all your videos by the way. It has taught me plenty over the years, huge respect.
I work with rendering software and I always render depth map for post production but I usually just apply lens blur and also screen it on top to fade away further area as a fast Post Production work. Nice to see how much I can do to make it even better. Very good suggestions with the grain of course. I should make remove it for light areas. Thank you really
Great video. Very useful techniques to learn and illustrated well in this video as was your intention even though I am not a total fan of the final result on the sample image … but that is not important at all. I learnt a lot today. Thank you!
I tried the Lens Blur tool twice... wasn't a fan of it. However, I didn't know about the depth map facility (I guess that's why the title of your video includes the word "hidden"). I'm going back to check Lens Blur out, with a different set of lens (see what I did there?) Great tutorial, Unmensh. Thank you.
For the grain, one nice technique is also to try using the grain effects in the Camera Raw filter on the neutral gray overlay layer as it can sometimes look nicer than the noise filter, but it just depends on what you're going for :)
Another good video, thanks! About the color lookup preview thing, I'm sure Unmesh, and most of us already know that, but I will write it down anyway, maybe it helps those who aren't using PS that often. So... let's say you want to browse between different color lookups because you don't know which is the name of that specific one you had in mind using, or you just want to know which looks the best for that specific photo, and since there's no preview when you hover your cursor over different lookup styles, and it's "annoying" to just keep clicking to each and all of them, I just select the first one from the top of the list, click it, then I'll use my down/up arrow keys on my keyboard to cycle between them, that way it's possible to get a real time preview. Not a world changing trick, but I like using it like that. Sorry for the long comment, cheers all!
Thanks for sharing the tip! If you're using a mouse, you can also use the scroll wheel. However, this trick only works with Windows, not Mac; I wish it worked across systems.
Unmesh thank you once again for your training awesome-ness. Question about the flare and sky, would you typically then make a copy and use that copy for a reflection layer?
Camera and lenses brands: we used all our R&D to developed the latest tech for cameras which allow making clean and sharp photos. Photographers: I spent lots of money on latest gear, learned lots of tricks and put my soul into making sharp and crisp photos. Photoshopers: add grain and blur to that picture!!! 😆😆😆
You can do the same with arrow keys too.Just hover the mouse pointer over the Box and use (as mentioned in the main comment) and use the Up or Left arrow keys and next & Down & Right for previous colour lookups
People who shoot portrait photos with different lense for depth are a thing of the past. Why waste time with a photographer taking hours and thousands when Unmesh literally gives you the answer of how to change your depth right here.
Unmesh: Depth Masks are interesting, but like other AI-generated things, they are low resolution. Are there any possible tricks to generate "Hi-Res Depth Masks," ala Hi-Res Gen Fill? 🙂
Yes, it sucks that we don’t get high-res. But, since this is being processed on device (not cloud), if Adobe wants, maybe they can have a high res mode in the future. I’ll make a request. Wish there was a trick to make it high res. I mean, we can “technically” make it, but the edges wouldn’t match. However, if you really want to take the time, you can create these depth maps manually.
I cannot comprehend the amount of knowledge you have when it comes to photoshop.
“Try to go out”.
HAH! Good advice for all of us, Unmesh.
Thanks for your good humor as well as your gift for teaching.
I should take that advice myself first 😂 Thanks for watching!
Can you please make a full video on photoshop menu bar there is no video on youtube which teach us how to use options in menu bar

This video is totally awesome! Thank you, Unmesh!
Thank you, Mark! So glad you like it.
It suddenly occurred to me that Unmesh is like the Bob Ross of Photoshop tutors. I mean that in the nicest possible way!
I think you are right 👍🏻👍🏻
“Here’s just a happy little mask…”
Yes!
Been a follower for years, I've never watched a bad video from you, not once! You're great Unmesh! Greetings from Rome, Italy

Congrats.
A brilliant video again Unmesh, thank you for supporting our learning journey.
Simply amazing...! You're such a great teacher! Thanks for sharing with us all of these precious tricks!

AWESOME video Unmesh, it really made the photo pop!
Insightful and well presented as always! Thank you Unmesh!!
The "Style transfer" thumbnail is my photo! :D
I have been using this in Lightroom these days ❤ its so good. I am glad we can find it in camera raw PS as well.

You are awesome, man! A real teacher! 😀
Unmesh. Outstanding.
I love when you edtiing landscape, Unmesh! 💌
Lots of learning from this one, good work Indian man.
One can "preview" through the LUTs (in Windows) by setting the LUT and then using or cursor keys to switch to a different LUT.
Today my goal of learning something new everyday has been achieved! Thanks again 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
New level unlocked! Bddddding! 🌟Thanks, Unmesh! 👍

Man, I kept seeing this vid pop up and I kept skipping it. I finally thought, "Unmesh hasn't disappointed yet." So glad I popped in a watched it.

Awesome vid! Would love to see you do a tutorial for preparing adjustments between images for digital viewing and images ready for printing. Thanks!

AWESOME AS USUAL THNKS A LOT
thanks bro, so great
Awesome and Thankyou
when you think you have mastered Photoshop, Unmesh comes to show that there is still much to learn 😄
Amazing :)
What about reflections, though? Do we need to target them as we add the flare?
For luts, just choose one and come out of that window and use your arrow keys afterwards. That will show you the previews of all the luts.
i like how you leave in the mistakes you make. It proves you're not a robot lol

Uhm, don't you think after adding that flare we also need to do something for the reflection on the surface of the water....?

Hey Unmesh, is that saturation mask video deleted? I can't seem to find it anymore :(
Lets face it, mans got the best lighting set up in the entire RUclips game. Everyone else is competing for second place.
I like using camera raw noise on the gray layer instead of normal noise+blur.
unmesh do you have a course on illustrator
I just watched whole video and at end I am feeling before was looking better😂😂
Reminds me of my youthful years : modify colors, add flares, endless tweaking ! good old days without AI ...

We can also add fog with the help of depth map
Now i gotta see of the depth map is in older ps😂 cause thats nice
With the ability to easily generate depth maps, parallax effect is far more easy to make

niceeee, but reflective on the water still sharp area... (who's reflect the background true it)
my neural filter option is off why?
You need to log-in to activate and download neural filters. If you have a "peg leg" there are other methods.
@@pakorizzuti81 thanks

THANK U FOR THAT .... I WANAA ASK U TO TEACH US "HOW TO MAKE BRONZE - ORANGY SKIN TUNE IN PHOTOSHOP

But what if you don't have access to Neural filters
It is way overdue that adobe let's us use the depth maps lightroom already makes for blurring for other purposes as well; as general masks...🤔
Wouldn't you want the flare in the reflection?
