@@feelcollins4358 Ironically he just dropped a video today stating that the single row marquee tool is useless so this point goes to Brady ☺ But yeah Unmesh might be the best teacher out there when it comes to explaining stuff
They say different parts of the brain handle creative tasks and different ones handle problem solving, maths and other technical stuff This man uses 100% of his brain and it's amazing to watch what he comes up with
I'm speechless, i'm been using photoshop for 20 years and I don't know how but you always find the way to impress me and make feel like i'm a newbie in this 😅 Thanks you so much!
I haven't even watched the video yet, but I see "Texturelabs" I thumbs up. You sir are a master of the craft. The way you break down the steps into steps that aren't too difficult for the beginner to follow along while also not being too "step-by-step" that could upset the more intermediate and advanced users is truly something no other RUclipsr has quite nailed down as well as you. Keep up the great content and thank you for sharing your knowledge with the community!
Ah thanks so much. Striking that balance is tricky - I have one instinct to power through in 3 minutes with only key points and another to take 2 hours on the thing!
I've been using photoshop professionally for over ten years and have built a lot of actions in my time and feel quite strong with my skillset, particularly in hotkeys and quick use of the software. This is hands down the greatest photoshop video I have ever seen. From the INCREDIBLE edit with all your visualisations, to the little bits of knowledge (that actions look for the first layer with that name from the bottom of the layer list???), this is a phenomenal tool. Thank you so much, you have a new subscriber for life!
I've been using photoshop for over 7 years now I have never seen anyone or anything in level of your knowledge about this application You are goat man 🙌
I've spent years trying to achieve this effect successfully in Photoshop (and have gotten very close!) but this is unreal. True mastery of the program! Anyone interested in the origin of this effect check out the mindblowing 70's video synthesis of Bill Etra's Rutt-Etra Video Synthesizer as used by Steina & Woody Vasulka.
I've used Displacement Maps for many years, but just one aspect that made this so useful is that I now have a much better idea how they work, so we can better predict how our depth maps are going to affect the image. That's golden.
I hope you're incredibly wealthy (or at least very financially stable) because you honestly deserve it for sharing these tutorials. No one else even comes close.
I don't comment very often on videos. But you, sir, deserve a comment, because what you do in PS is impressive. I salute you and I amazed by your creativity and how you are using a scientific approach to create art :) Learned so much from you, thanks!
You always blow my ming with this tutorials. I use photoshop for 22 years. For the last 14 I use it professionally almost every day, keep up with all the updates, and I would never come up with something like this. Generating a 1 pixel height psd for the depth map in an automation is something I would have never dreamt of.
Dude. You blow me away with these every time!!! This is absolutely incredible that you've been able to figure this out by "hacking" what Photoshop can already do. A wizard - a real life wizard. Thank you so much, I'll definitely be using this!!
These tutorials not only showcase cool effects and expert level Photoshop use, they are the best explained tutorials i've seen anywhere on YT. The amount of work that must've gone into explaining depth maps and distortion is insane. Also, the pacing is excellent. Meaning that if you're already very familiar with those concepts it's still interesting and fun to watch. Excellent work!
Holy crap, when you did the skull tilt animation, I was definitely thinking creating some sweet GIFs or animations would be awesome, especially if you make a larger action to do it all with the PS timeline
Haha, I always appreciate how your mind works - it's a cool effect even with the sometimes clunky actions (as you mentioned). Ps your production values are really high on this one in particular - probably took as long if not more than figuring out the effect! 👍😉
Thank you for including a way for those of us who still have/use old versions of PS - that we actually bought - to do this. I’m not keen to deal with Adobe’s “subscription” plans…. especially after their most recent update to their TOS.
Absolutely amazing video! Could you go into a bit of detail about what you're doing to the wireframes at the end of the video? I've been trying to get mine to look that smooth and I just haven't quite cracked it yet
This is like next level, i had butterflies when i was watching this, will try to experiment with it. I bow to your skill, your tutorials makes me understand PS on much deeper level🙏
AI is afraid of this guy! Seriously I love each one of your tutorials, I've seen all of your videos and every time you publish a new one I'm completely sure that I'm going to learn a new tool that I've never used before. You are in a different league than any other creator when it comes to Photoshop.
Great stuff. Always genuinely useful and original material on this channel, so many channels just clone each other's work with minor variations. Brady comes up with techniques I haven't seen anywhere else. And the sidebar that keeps track of each step really does make it easier to grasp the process. Keep up the good work man!
complete mindset of the designer = Texturelabs, multidisciplinary with a personal touch that is normally missing in the possible portfolios and works of designers
Anyone else here auto LIKES anything Brady uploads even before watching the whole video? The way this man understands the inner workings of Photoshop never ceases to amaze me!
i’m so happy that you’re still active and posting. your channel is hands down the best channel on the topic of advanced photo/video effects that i’ve ever come across in my years of watching content. thank you once again, for this masterpiece of a video too
So when will the Glow Colors gradient pack be available on the website? I really want to throw some money at you for making this mind-blowing work that you do!
Great tutorial as always. For some reason, Photoshop's depth filter is broken for me and has been for 2 years. I assume it must be some kind of conflict in my graphics card. I'm using a Mac without any custom graphics card so I don't know why this would be the case. Rather than a depth map, it just gives me a dirty looking black and white image with a lot of weird artifacting. It worked when the neural fitler was first introduced and then stopped working after an udpate and has been broken ever since. But I can do this effect with actual rendered depth maps. (I feel we have a similar feeling about AI-good as a way to enhance our own creativity, not great in the way it replaces human creativity by plagiarising millions of man hours of dedicated craftsmanship.)
Hey Rikard and crew. Ah bummer. Still says BETA next to it after all this time... guess that's a catch-all excuse when it doesn't work! But absolutely, awesome when you can render a real depth map with accurate proportions. Agreed on the AI front - although I've found it encouraging that most people (and the legal system) place very little value on the purely AI generated techno-mush!
Incredible tut as always, Brady - I guess your brain works different than us mere mortals. Not only is the effect itself awesome, but I really appreciate all the work that went into the animated explainer parts of the video - totally elevates this to an S-tier quality tutorial!
Man, this guy is putting out banger after banger! I don't know how you figure all this stuff out but it's always impressive and I watch every video because no matter what I know I'm going to learn something new. Some of the best tutorials on RUclips, no question.
Ok this is the best photoshop / after effects channel. The amount of mastering and creativity is absolutely insane. And thank you for how you deal with AI, this is important.
Tutorial broke for me around 6:30 anyone else have this issue and can help me fix it? every time I apply displacement nothing happens and the line remains straight. I've went back and repeated the steps 3-4 times still just having a straight line.
I’ll be honest, this was the first time I thought you’d gotten a bit lost in the sauce… until I saw how using the source image color information sold the effect so beautifully! When you’re developing these techniques, how on earth do you know diamonds are just around the corner? Or are you just endlessly performing trial and error experiments for our benefit?
I am pretty sure that there is not one person in the world that knows that program better that this absolute legend!

This is impresive. This guy is the Jimi Hendrix of Photoshop.
outstanding statement. very true
The GOAT Photoshop user is the one who can do anything he wants using Photoshop. Inversely, Brady can make Photoshop do whatever he wants.

The depth in your tutorials 🤯🤯 also the depth maps
This one was awesome, Brady. Thanks for it-and for all of the TextureLabs tutorials and resources. I use them nearly every day.

Bro… I was literally just searching for this when I got the notification. Thank you!
Ha no way. I put all the random keywords I could with the video but still wasn't sure how to describe the effect :)
One of a kind of genius. really amazing.
Very very excited for a new Texturelabs tutorial.

I finally have a video to link for the thousand reddit posts a day asking how to do this effect
my displace filter isnt doing the zig zag line thats showing on yours, it still has the straight line, i am not sure what i am doing wrong
