okay, two things: 1. This cinematography in the video is next level. I felt as if I was watching a movie. 2. Your voice is extremely soothing and I need it in a candle scent. Okay that is all, goodbye
This has really inspired me to see the little opportunities that come with every day life. The beauty that comes from the photos is the simplicity of how things are and freezing a moment that otherwise would go by without being noticed.
This inspired me to write. I don't think anyone would want to read it, but here it is, anyway, inspired by the hard but inviting light depicted in many of the pictures. It's impossible to describe light to a blind man. It's just as difficult to describe it to a man with sight. I've not tried either, but I'm confident about it anyway. The light I'm thinking of was coming through the window, and with all the motes floating by in crowded throngs, the impression was that the light was moving, streaming in like glowing yellow liquid, splashing down on the wooden table in a perfect golden square. Of course the light was moving, but it might as well not be, with how fast, except then it was like it were moving slower, lazily pouring across a neglected black charging cable and three red paperclips that couldn't remember how they'd gotten there. It's impossible to describe light, but it might be possible to describe how it can make you feel, to a person with the eloquence to do so. This light was bright, of course, evidence of a sunny day, the world was still turning. It was good news, really. But that's not how it made me feel. It made me feel relaxed. The dust specs and the filtering of the light, the stillness and the forgotten red paperclips all told of stillness, in some perplexing, soundless, quiescent way. I might have breathed cool air in through my nostrils, then, felt the pleasure of my bare feet on the soft carpet, and let my eyes wander across the gold light, the saturated green from the tree leaves outside the dirty window-pane. I couldn't have stayed there forever. The moment was just a moment, and if I were there forever it would be something else, so although it's kind of sad that it couldn't last, that I couldn't stay there for even the same duration that the sun did, and the charging cable and the red paper clips with poor memories, I certainly could stay there for a bit longer, at least. A bit longer. And I did, with the sun and the square of light and the disordered crowd of dust flecks and the golden wood of the tabletop, and none of us said anything because we all understood that we were having a moment, and it would be gone soon. But not just yet.
Your video goes to show that photographing what we like, rather than what we think other people might like, is the way to go. A lovely, gentle and inspiring video, thank you
i've been thinking about this a lot the last couple weeks. i'm in the process of re-descovering photography by giving me the chance to shoot whatever i found interesting without expecting other people's validation or like and it's been pretty heartwarming :)
Ah, Teo. This video found me at the perfect time.. I recently lost my 12.5 year old cat in October and I haven't been shooting since. I think a part of it was because I loved taking photos of him and when he passed, that part of me also passed with him. This video reminded me that there are other moments in my life that are beautiful and to be more mindful of them when they come. I want to try this challenge to also improve my photography as well :)
I've found this mindset really helpful for music as well. There are times when it is quite challenging to feel artistically motivated, especially when practicing a particularly challenging piece over many weeks. Taking some time to simplify and be more present helps refocus and reinvigorate joy in the art. Thanks for the reminder, Teo!
Like where this video went. I am someone who likes to bite off more than I can chew and tend to get frustrated by the lack of success. This is a good lesson in humility and just taking what the world and what your energy is giving you. Don't try to do too much but keep testing yourself when you can. Great stuff Teo!
Each time I watch one of your videos that spark of inner art in me grows a little bit more vivid. Thanks for all the content you've put out over the years
I have been having difficulty sleeping, but halfway through I nearly dozed off. The content is extremely interesting and I'm going back every few seconds but your voice is like a lullaby 😂
I really appreciate this video. I tried this challenge after watching this and I can say that it drastically helped me get back out there and shoot. After taking a bit of a break from photography due to life circumstances this was just the kickstart that I needed. Thank you!
Thank you for this, Teo. I haven’t picked up my camera since my trip to Iceland (earlier this year), always thinking I need to be somewhere new and beautiful to capture photos. This is a great reminder that all things around us have beauty and special moments to capture.
The photo at 10:56-11:02 is funnily beauiful! The darker bins on the left match the tree trunk and orange leaves, and the bins on the right match the shrubbery and the yellow canopy!!
I feel photography was not just my first passion but my first love and I kinda abandoned it for a while due to my current job and second passion, I'm now trying to go back to photography because I love it more than anything and the last part of the video made me tear up a little bit. Thank you, your content has something real special and I hope the future holds something equally special for you.
Same here. I am trying to get back at photography after spending years sacrificing it for another passion. But now it's the time to get back at it even if it is hard.
Awesome pictures and video! My suggestion for the marketplace photo that you weren't too happy with would be to apply a tilt-shift filter to it. It would give it that small toy-like effect.
Currently pausing on each frame of your room and saying out loud "Omg what a beautiful plant!" "OMG, what a beautiful room!" "OMG the map looks so nice and the composition, damn!" lol you have a very good taste, envious of your plants!
Great story Teo! The quality is so good, and your voice is calming. I could watch a video like this for an hour. I already joined a 30 day challenge once, but relating drawing and animation in a event called inktober. A 30 day challenge is very hard and demands time and effort. After that I was really tired. But it was a great experience. Thank you so much for this and have a great weekend!
I love the idea of this challenge! I sort of unintentionally did this when I went on my 6 week trip to Vietnam. Being able to look back at the photos I took makes me enjoy the simple things I was able to live through. I took my digital camera which was the Canon Cliq2+, and since it was a crappy little camera it made me feel less conscious about "wasting film" or anything like that because it was all digital. Because of this I was able to take more pictures and shoot some of my favorite pictures I was ever able to shoot in 2023. I hope to become even more familiar with taking photos this 2024 year and to take more pictures of the mundane and new experiences going forward.
I am from Bregenz and was really suprised when I saw you heading there! You ceapured it in a very unique way and in general the video was incredibly enjoyable to watch
this is exactly what i needed to get me motivated again to get back to shooting photography. definitely going to try and apply this to my daily routine and since i’ve had my eye on a new camera, i’ll use that as my motivation to complete the challenge.
i got goosebumps. beautiful shots and thank you for showing the "failure" part. i'm in a similar space as you in the begining of the video, and i enjoyed connecting with that through this really.. beautifully structured/put together video.
I'm just picking up a film camera for the first time since ... Well, a long time. I've been watching a lot of videos and this is the best advice I've gotten. Thank you!
I once tried the popular 365 photography projects and after a couple of weeks I found it pretty complicated to be consistent and ended up with random photos of my desk as well. I might try the 30 day, it seems more achievable. Great video!
I am really happy that I came across your video. I began a similar challenge, inspired by you. I want to get better at composition and editing, so depending on what I have with me that day, I'll either use a camera or a phone. The goal is to shoot regular stuff, nothing exceptional, and then edit based on the mood of the image (I want to experiment more, but I feel like I've built a style over time and I'm kind of stuck there). Thank you! 🌻
I only saw your Japan series before this one and I had no idea you're living in Austria. Neither did I ever expect Bregenz (I live closeby) to look so cinematic! Darn, I love your channel!
while on the way back home from work i was thinking how my photography was getting a bit stale, and thus started to think to try other genres. While scrolling pinterest on the metro, it became to me quiet clear that i should try my hand at some still-life photography. The timing of this video is eerie haha
I, also started a challenge for myself similar to this. But instead of taking photos, I have to regulary scan the bucketload of photos in my backup starting from 10yrs ago, filter and process, reminisce its story and share at least 1 everyday until I sift them all. I have a habit of shooting then forgeting, stories and the photo itself.
They are lovely. The ones you deem mediocre can also create art for someone who is a painter who would want to use your content. The way I view the photos of still life would be as how the fine art painters viewed it. Good work. Keep at it.
great video! reminds me of my journal goal i started 2 years ago now. i struggled with journaling and building habits (still do), so i made it my goal to write SOMETHING every single day. sometimes i just write the date and "i am tired." other times i write 1-3 pages about a single day's events, creative ideas, what's on my mind, etc. i tape junk in it as well. i've missed around 10 total days in the last 2 years, not aiming for perfection. because this concept worked for me with my journal, i think it'll work for photography as well
This is such a great video. I loved the way it was filmed and the information I gained from it. I want to get into photography and I don't really know where to start. This makes photography look fun and interesting! Thank you for making the video!
I was in an abusive relationship for a while and I haven’t drawn or done photography much since it happened 2 years ago, I’m hoping to get back into it ☺️
This has inspired me to do the same. Instead of only going out for intense 4 hour long photo walks once a week. just have another casual smaller camera on hand when something interesting catches the eye
A great video Your videos have given me a lot of inspiration and motivation on my photography path, thank you very much I really like the content and the way you conceptualized the video, the colors and camera angles are really beautiful Too great!

thank you for sharing your experience! it is really great and motivating the way you look at things to make them easier ! i will apply this to improve my photography! 1 photo everyday anywhere I go. taking my camera with me ! thanks !

Thank you. This is the way :) I like the approach as it allows me to appreciate the wonderful world around me, how light does amazing things all by it self etc. Keep up the good work
Most of your photos appear to be taken at eye level. My favorite is the market from above. The perspective is not something you normally see and makes it interesting.
About the home photography you talked about - Seeing bits of someone else's home is something quite ...adventurous. For me, it feels like being a butterfly and secretly entering in all these people's homes and look for beauty. Totally agree with you on that one!

been looking for a new side quest and i think this one will do exactly what i need!
A great video

Really happy to see you're blowing up :D I remember when you had a few thousand followers a couple of years ago!
This was a very beautifully shot and inspiring video to watch. Thanks Teo
Excellent. I've subscribed and looking forward to watching your earlier videos.
Great video! I found myself in the same situation of failing a 30 day photography challenge and I carry my camera with me everywhere 😅. Giving it another go.
I was surprised to suddenly hear a Korean song. I should try following along too. thank you~

bro i loved ur videography more than photography please make a tutorial on how u shoot ur videos ur techniques and more secrets
Most of your photos appear to be taken at eye level. My favorite is the market from above. The perspective is not something you normally see and makes it interesting.
Came across this video and really loved it! Thank you for giving me more motivation to shoot, you just got yourself a new subscriber :)
About the home photography you talked about - Seeing bits of someone else's home is something quite ...adventurous. For me, it feels like being a butterfly and secretly entering in all these people's homes and look for beauty. Totally agree with you on that one!
