Hi, the copper coat after the black coat is there as a backup really. It shows up better in real life than it does on the video. Where there are gaps in the first coat of the verdigris green colour and the colours thereafter, the copper does show through. But you can miss the first coat of copper out if you wish. Thanks you for your comments. The first coat is there as a base coat, in the same way that you'd prime a piece of wood before painting it. Black gesso of a bonding primer would work even better. So the black coat is really there so that you get a nice even coverage of all paints that go on top and so that the paints that go on top have something to key too. I hope that helps explain in more detail for you 😀

I translated your question. "What's wrong with what is he doing?" Is there something within the video that you need explaining more. Or are you stating that you like what is being done? There may have been something lost in translation. So please accept my apologies if that's the case.
Thank you for commenting. I would like to point out that to achieve the layering of colours isn't a short process. Indeed, you could stop halfway through this process. However you wouldn't get the same effect. Give it a try and see what you come up with 😀
Thank you for your support. You can buy special paints to produce this type of effect. I simply wanted to show people that the same finished effect could still be achieved, but using cheaper and easier to obtain paints. Thank you again for your comments, they're much appreciated 😀
Seems a very long process to end up with a 'green' jar! You overdid it, and lost the desired effect. Back in the '90s, I was a hand decorator for a large lighting company, and I must have turned hundreds of black candlestick holders into very old-looking brass candlestick holders, using the verdigris effect. I would stipple on the gold, over most of it, but certainly not all over it, then, here and there, stipple on the green & blue. And the result was like looking at a 300+-year-old candlestick holder, and not a green one.
Thanks for your comments. There are many ways to produce the verdigris effect. This one isn't a long process at all. It's all about layering the paints and letting them dry before moving on to the next layer. I think if you take a closer look at the thumbnail for the video, you'll see that the jar is far from being totally green. There is a lot of aging using white paint and gold dry brushing. Verdigris comes in many colourations, so there is no wrong or right. It's not an exact process and I'd be more than happy to share a link of your video of your process on my channel.

Every painting project uses extra paint, especially when you are experimenting Perhaps you need to try another craft
Why put on copper if you keep covering it up?
@carolsherman9817 Hi, the copper coat after the original black coat of paint is there as a backup really. It shows up better in real life than it does on the video. Where there are gaps in the first coat of the verdigris green colour and the colours thereafter, the copper does show through. But you can miss the first coat of copper out if you wish, but it all adds to the finished effect. It all depends if you want to risk any of the original black paint showing through on your end result(because all the colours are watered-down, the paints are quite transparent) I hope this helps answer your question. Thanks for your question. 😀
I meant to say the Layering effects not Larry
Thank you again for taking the time to comment on my video. 😀
A little bit like a female Bob Ross 😍
Thank you for the comment, but last time I checked I was definitely all male😀
@@MixedMediaArtsAndCrafts gosh, sorry! 😅😅😅
@@Purpurschnecke no worries. Made me laugh too 😂😂😂
I don't see the need for the second coat of gold, as none of it is evident. I understand the black base coat but not the gold. Good vid
Hi Wanda, the first coat of gold is there as a backup really. It shows better in reality than it does in the video. Where there are gaps in the first coat of the verdigris green colour and the colours thereafter, the gold does show through. But you can miss the first coat of gold out. It all depends if you want to risk any of the original black showing through on the end result.
Зачем второй слой золото если его закрасили?
I translated your question. "What's wrong with what is he doing?" Is there something within the video that you need explaining more. Or are you stating that you like what is being done? There may have been something lost in translation. So please accept my apologies if that's the case.
To me lost what you was after.you could half that time
Thank you for commenting. I would like to point out that to achieve the layering of colours isn't a short process. Indeed, you could stop halfway through this process. However you wouldn't get the same effect. Give it a try and see what you come up with 😀
Also, I do not agree with that one comment that you could get this affect another way. It Hass to be done like this I know because I have tried.
It may seems a long time to you, for me it’s the enjoyment of the creation no matter the time it takes 🤷🏻♀️💕
I enjoyed this video
