The takeaway a lot of urban riders would get from this video is that Harley/Harley dealerships don't want to sell Street 500's, and don't like or respect the customer who would normally buy a light Japanese bike but who might like the Street. There are a lot of people who like a quiet engine, who want to get as many mpg's as possible, who aren't "afraid" of a big bike but prefer a light one, and who like the retro Japanese standard look. But who would go to a dealership that openly mocks their preferences? What a lot of inner city commuters need is a bike like the Honda CB500f or the Street 500, which is a more attractive bike and made in the USA (I presume). But Honda dealers are proud of their commuter bikes, not ashamed of them.
Derrick Thompson 😩 I cant even find a Street 500 or 750 at the only Harley dealer near me... it’s literally the only Harley I’ve ever been interested in too. Guess I’ll just stick with my beloved Honda
I am an old rider (73) that has owned and ridden Harleys and many other bikes for 60 years. I got a steal of a deal on a 2015 XG 500 with 912 miles on it in September of 2019. It is small and surprisingly fast for what I expected! When you get older your body changes, and I had noticed it was getting hard for me to hold up the large bikes when stopped on uneven terrain, and Arkansas is full of uneven terrain! It handles very well and I have had no trouble going on 300 mile rides with my HD Hog group or staying up with them going up mountains and hills, or passing cars. I added larger grips, 2 inch risers, K&N air filter, S&S Muffler, front crash bar with cruise pegs (so I can stretch out), some additional running lights on the crash bar, and a Corbin seat. I adapted some saddle bags to carry my Rain gear and tools. I also added a magnetic tank bag and a windshield I had left off of my 2017 Heritage Softail. That tank bag starts to fly off of the tank above 75 mph, so I had to add some small bungies to hold it on when I really cook down the road! This little HD is a real fun bike to ride and take through the mountains. It is way underrated by the public!
You got a point Harley raiders sim to refer to non conventional Harley as women or new riders bikes. All over the world they refer to this bikes as big bikes and go touring on them. Good for you my friend
First time rider and this is actually my first bike. I must say I am having an absolute blast on it. I get crap from other people (bikers and cagers alike) but I’m enjoying it and that’s all that matters.
You know I want to learn and buy a beginner bike and I gotta be honest your video really made my decision to get a street 500 easier thank you. And your video is great to watch.
I’m a 4”8 female so I’m really small,I’m trying to decide between a street 500 and a Honda rebel 500. I believe they are the same street height. What do you think of the bike overall? Does it “leak” oil since its liquid cooled Is the street 750 the same street height?
The don't leak at all, they're very reliable motors and perform well. If you can splurge a little more I would recommend getting the Street 750 model, you will get quiet a bit more for just a little more!
Longhorn Harley-Davidson First of all I subscribed! second was concerned about the leaking, the only problem is I’m 4”8 and am not sure i could flat foot a Harley 500 or 750
@@hailstormk9417 Thank you so much for subscribing!! It is very much appreciated! The seat height on a Street is 720mm vs the 691mm on a Honda Rebel, so there isn't much of a difference there. I would highly recommend test riding one to ensure that it fits you well. Also, I don't know what other criteria you may have other than height, but the 2017 and older Softail Slim was one of the lowest sitting bikes that Harley produced for a while, it might be worth checking it out. Either way, both the Rebel and the Street are fantastic motorcycles, however my money is on the Street
Replace the pads out on any Street and your brake issue will be resolved. I own a 750, suitable to my needs of around the town for fun and occassionally short motorway journeys.
Bro don’t laugh at my bike 😢 I’m getting one on Saturday and I still don’t even have my learners permit 😂😂😂 I’ll subscribe cause you’re full of life laughter and joy. Be well always.
I’d say a 500 is still to big for a person to learn on , get a rebel 250, a Yamaha 250 or a Suzuki 250 , even like a 300cc , u cane get them for less than $2000 then sell it after you’ve rode it for a few weeks or months
I have a street 500. And I’m a beginner. 2 weeks in. But I’m really enjoying my bike. I changed the exhaust so it sounds like a Harley and not a scooter.
Could have been a good review but your laughter is stupid really. My xg500 hits 105. It gets to 80 easily and quickly for what the bike is. I mean it makes 30hp and weighs 500lbs.

Derrick Thompson agreed. This guy acts like a massive douche.

The street series of Harley was made in india.
@@zach44272 The Street bikes sold in the US were made in Kansas City; the Street sold in Europe, Asia and Australia were made in India.

100% Agree. Just bought a used XG500. Love it
Your laughing makes it hard to get a good review on the bike!

Real riders know it's your bike and the one's talking crap ain't riding on it with you. Ride what you like.
I love my 500!
Lol. Glad to see you having fun mate. I just bought one on Friday. 1st bike in 30 years! Can’t wait to pick it up….

The street 500 doesn't have the vibration that the Honda rebel does.
I'd go with Honda 500 even the 1100 Honda would be great but you will only get the horse power from the Harley

good enough for the highway. i don't speed anyways.
Cracked me up when you said “roll the tape” haven’t heard that saying in years
Man, I want one just based on the fun you’re having 😂
i got one of these, put a tab peformance exhaust, K&N cold air intake i am close to 300lbs and ive hit 100mph on it
Bro don’t laugh at my bike 😢 I’m getting one on Saturday and I still don’t even have my learners permit 😂😂😂 I’ll subscribe cause you’re full of life laughter and joy. Be well always.
WHY are you testing a 2015 model,in 2018.? From everything I have read and seen about this MC,the brake problem was corrected for the 2016 model year.
Tbh brakes look good but obviously the better ya can get the safer ya are

Yeah he's definitely stoned he must of pumped a couple of breky cones lmfao
Just a guy giggling while riding around
Just listened to this guy at the beginning of the review calling it a scooter. That’s so typical for riders who doesn’t know the market for this bike.
Your test rides are great man keep it up 👍
Thanks!!! I appreciate the feedback!
Probably shouldn't do drugs before a test ride..
Yeah. But, Can it do 88mph & go back in time? LOL!
