    I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am for you guys! I think the guy at the border may have wanted to have at yout trailer. Get you stuck at the nearest hotel to the border and while you sleep, he breaks in. Love the comment from the US border agent about waiting on you guys! I bet that felt so nice after the 3.5 hour border ordeal.

    Thank you for taking us along on your journey HOME! I think the best part was the US Border Agent telling you he and his wife have been waiting for you! I LOVED IT!! Nice to know someone was looking out for you. Sounds like Canadian Border Agents doesn't are like the old saying, "the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing". I would have been beyond furious when they said there were forms to fill out for the guns, especially after calling and repeatedly checking to make sure you had everything in order for the crossing. You all have a lot more patience than me! I know, getting angry would have made things worse and you would have been held up longer, or denied entry. Now you know why I will never go to or through Canada (other than being dirt poor and failing health. LOL!).
    I am so happy you all made it to your cabin safely. I hope you all will take a few days to rest, relax, and catch up on some much needed RESTFUL SLEEP. Then you all can get busy making the rest of your dreams come true and more memories for Parker to pass down to his kids. OOPS!! I'm getting ahead of myself! You all are so very blessed!! I love seeing you all so happy and content!! Love you All!!

    My sister has lived in Anchorage, Alaska for over 40 years. I have never been there though. She worked for the state but is retired now. I don't know what route she took to get there, I imagine they flew as her first husband worked for the government. I thnk I would have gone crazy in that bunk room but you had no choice! Thanks again so much for filming this for us!
    So glad you're feeling better! I've felt so bad for you! Your dogs are so well mannered and obedient!

The dogs did well! How fun to write those post cards! So far, even though it is raining the sea doesn't seem to rough. Seeing Parker try to balance was fun! Tears are sooooo okay Tina. So many wonderful memories and emotions! How cool for Parker to get to see where he was born! Nice to have a little time to get off the ship - for the dogs too! It was so good to hear you say that your neck pain is a tad better1 PRAYERS CONTINUE! Joe - you sure trained your precious dogs well! They have done so well on the trip and now on the ferry! It made me cold just watching those temperatures. I spent most of my life in MN. I dreaded the cold temperatures, short days, terrible icy roads, all the snow, dirty slushy streets after being salted, cars getting rust from the salt. I moved to Jacksonville, FL and everyone there was envious of the snow. I was like no thanks, I’ve had enough. After ten years there I moved to the Charlotte, SC area. The rare snow we get usually disappears during the day and no shoveling needed. That’s OK. I got so depressed during the MN winter with being shut up inside and the cloudy day. I suffered from seasonal affective disorder. You might consider getting one of those sun like lights that help deal with depression. I would just crave sunlight and rejoiced in the spring when it arrived. Good luck in your new home and the change of lifestyle. May you stay warm! I enjoyed your journey and love how well trained those dogs are. They need coats.

    Ohh yess 1hr 15 mins! Very well documented Tina, I felt like I was on the trip every step of the way.. great video!! The ship looked very comfortable and accommodating for everyone and the pups, loved seeing those mountains.. the views were so beautiful, you captured everything well 😍 It seems like the border security we’re trying to rattle you to see if you would get agitated to give them a reason to turn you back but God was in control, Joe handled himself very very well, he was quite professional, thankful that you made it through (bladder full and all 😅) what a sigh of relief. Now you exhale and enjoy home.

    I just found you yesterday and have gone back and watched your first You Tube and been checking some from your history. First I have to say that I find you very refreshing and I do feel like you are honest and tell it like it is. If someone posts negative comments about how you raise your son, its someone that cant find good in anything. Your son is 8 and from what I have seen so far, a great boy. Keep up the great work on him. I just watched the one where you had Jackson and the issues you had with him. I am not a mother, but I do have a step son. We had all kinds of issues with him as a child but now he is 36 years old and last week he stopped by on his way home from work and I told my husband how much of a joy it is being around him now. He came a very long way and now has 2 boys of his own. They love coming to see Grandma and Grandpa for Sunday dinners. The whole point is, he did grow up to be a good man. lol it just took a long time. So maybe Jackson will also be able to grow out of all his issues and be a great man. I will keep him in my prayers. God Bless you and your family and I will be watching lots more.

    This brings back a few memories.! 😊 I helped move my stepdaughter down to Oregon where he Mom lived. She had a bike accident that gave her some temporary eye problems, and she wasn't able to drive, so she needed someone to drive her U-Haul. She was living in Petersburg and I in Sitka. I had my youngest son with me and a son living in Federal Way, Washington, and this was a good excuse for us all to see him again. I love the ferry trip for any reason. It is so beautiful, so relaxing, and you often get to see bear, deer or otter along the way. In the past, I had taken the plane direct to Seattle, so this was my first (and only) trip through Bellingham.
    Don't feel bad; I got a bit ill on that one open stretch there, too. 🤢
    When I moved from Anchorage to Sitka, I had made the trip you are making, but from the opposite direction. I pulled a 20 foot trailer to Haines and we then took the ferry from there to Sitka. That trip is also very beautiful. So I am very much enjoying reliving some of this through your adventure. 🥰
    P.S. I cannot believe how insane your border crossing was!!!!! I never had to go through anything like that! That country has gone paranoid!!

    I found you journey very touching. My husband and I lived in Homer Alaska for couple of years. We were in the Coast Guard. I always had this feeling in my heart that I would love to go back and homestead. I never went back but now I can enjoy it vicariously through you. I wish you the best of luck and pray for the lord to bless and protect you.

    The boarder agent probably lied to see if you would change your story. It is way more plausible that the boarder agent would lie than it is for a guy who is dealing with his own issues to randomly report some bs about the person behind him.

      I agree that border agent made it up. I followed the truckers protest every day and been watching some of the inquiry the past couple weeks. Canada is an authoritarian state now. It reminds me of East Germany.

    Great video guys! Congrats on a safe passage to your new Alaska home and really hope everything works out well for your install of wi-fi so you can continue sharing your adventure with us. The border into Canada is always a challenge when you have firearms and the border Canucks are instinctively a sadistic bunch when you bring them through their country. Went through the Blaine crossing (I-5) to visit Vancouver (no RV or firearms) and agent could not have been nicer and a few questions had us on our way. Three days later went through Sumas (Route 9) with the RV, bound for Alaska with a pistol grip 12 gauge and got an entirely different experience. Even with proper paperwork (yes Tina, they will give you misinformation on the phone), had to go inside and be in interrogated by 2 agents sitting behind the glass for a good 15 minutes about why I felt the need to bring a firearm, why I was coming through Canada and why I thought 6 days to make the trip was necessary. At that point I dropped the politeness and very sternly said, I had wanted to see some of Canada and drop some coin along the way, but now I'm not so sure. At that point they took on a more civil attitude and let us proceed. It all felt very unwelcoming and really seemed like I was trying to enter Iran or N. Korea. Upon leaving Alaska 2-1/2 months later I was a bit more prepared for the border crossing into Canada where a few questions about if I had salmon on board were answered, I then told the agent how I was hoping to spend about two weeks in transit so I might visit some of the spectacular places your beautiful country has to offer. And with that, I was on my way in less than 8 minutes. Its never a good idea to argue with these folks but you must also be firm when they are just messing with you to show their authority.
    Praise God for a safe trip, enjoy your arrival and keep warm up there!

    • @HomeFreeAlaska
      @HomeFreeAlaska  2 года назад

      Wow. What an experience. And that was my fear was that it really seems to depend on where you cross & which agent you get that day! Shouldn’t be that way. There should be consistency. But oh well. Happy we made it thru. That was honestly the only part of the trip I was concerned about!😊
