    Just to clarify something for those here. Kevin is just using the Lavender F4 case as an example of how excessive inbreeding can lead to problems in hognose in general. He is not claiming there is a genetic issue with Lavenders specifically. If the lavender gene itself was a problem, you would see problems just as often in outbred animals as inbred animals. I have seen multiple people misunderstand this and spread misinformation on facebook groups as a direct result of this video, so I'm here to correct it before it spins completely out of control. Hopefully this will help stem the tide.

    I just put a Red Albino Het Axanthic male hognose on hold for after I move into my new place this week. I just like the orange ones 🤣 I work with orchids and will eventually make my own orchid hybrids, so a lot of the breeding/hereditary stuff carries over to snakes, but some of the lingo is confusing to me. Love your channel.

    Question?? Have you ever bred a western hognose with a eastern or southern hognose?? If so what did you come out with?

    • @shovelnosehogs
      @shovelnosehogs  Год назад

      I don't think a western and eastern can produce viable eggs. An eastern may be able to breed with a southern. I do know that you can cross a western with a Mexican hognose

    • @torigarcia1976

      @@shovelnosehogs I'm gonna bet you can and it be a viable egg. Wouldn't hurt to try. If possible I bet they would be beautiful
