Fun fact, increased damage generally increases dps more than increased crit because of how defense works. Increased crit will always increase your damage output by the percentage of crit boast, but damage buffs can actually increase your dps more than the listed percent. Let's say you were playing in normal mode with all menacing accessories, using a weapon that has 100 base damage against an enemy with 40 defense, with no other boasts. 100 times 1.2 is 120, minus half the defense is 100. This means that the weapon is effectively dealing 100 average damage before crit with menacing as opposed to 80 damage without menacing. Instead of boasting your damage output by 20%, menacing has boasted your damage output by 25%.
I think your maths is wrong. menacing I agree with is 100 average. lucky 20% crit means that 80% of the time it does 100 - 20 = 80 damage, and 20% of the time it does 100*2 - 20 = 180 damage. 0.8*80 + 0.2*180 = 100. they are the same regardless of defense, on average.
I get a 100% crit chance in stealth mode with ranger. So although I lose damage for not using menacing my 100% crit chance overcompensates for the reduced damage. Regardless of the math I'm sticking with lucky for all my accessories.

This is incorrect since you have a base percent chance to crit. This causes the calculations to be slightly different. Since most weapons have a chance of 4%, I will use this for my calculations. With lucky, you add 4%(.04) to the multiplier of base damage. However, with Menacing, you must multiply by 4% or 1.04 times 1.04 (Base damage because of the 4 percent base crit chance) which gives you 1.0816, compared to 1.08 with lucky. This may seem like a small difference, however, with a higher base crit, such as with many late-game weapons and with more damage multiplier, it can really make a difference.

I like how the Destoryer Emblem is being used on a summoner where crits don’t matter and you could have the Papyrus Scarab for yet another minion and even more damage.
There are a few things I’d like to mention here as I feel like a lot of you will have questions about these things. **CORRECTIONS** Summoner: Use Papyrus Scarab instead of Destroyer Emblem. You can also summon the minions with max damage gear on, and then switch to gear that adds minion slots afterwards (because the summon should retain the original damage it was summoned with), Summoner should be able to get a massive boost in damage by doing this. First of all, technically feral bite could have been applied to every class, but I didn’t want to include it because of how much of a hassle it would be to maintain the buff for the other classes. Nebula attack boosters could have also been used for the other classes, however, it involves switching armor sets every few seconds so I decided not to include it. Lastly, the shrimpy truffle could have been used for the melee loadout, but you lose out on 2% extra crit, 5% extra melee damage, and 5% extra melee speed in exchange for the 15% damage. I tested this with and without the mount and found that Meowmere doesn’t see much of a change in damage either way, but the Terrarian and Solar Eruption found damage boosts (+200-300). Let me know if there are ways to better any of the loadouts, I'll do my best to update this comment to include any of the changes that I may have missed.
You can make your classes even stronger if you put prefixes on your armor (menacing+12%dmg) not alot but you can put any prefix on any armor or vanity and the only prefixes you can use are the ones accessories have. I have a class with 130 base defence and like 70% damage reduction or something crazy like that. And that's without any potions or npc buffs
TY for putting this out Gungnir, im so tired of correcting melee players who think solar armour is better for damage than beetle armour, to them i say, 'if your aim is good you can do more damage with beetle armour'
Gungnir I like to use the last prism but I’m bad at mage so In my mage loadout I use mana flower instead of celestial shelll(it’s not max damage but I still think it’s good for mage loadouts) Edit: it’s because you can’t always use a crab box during a boss fight where you move a lot
Also mage was unfair bc not only was the crab setup unpractical, he was using a raven staff, which is not fair at all even though it wasn’t on the dummies
Nice vid. Note though, that ranged single target crown probably belongs to the coin gun with platinum coins. For those claiming it's unfeasible to have enough of plat, - this is not true. All you need is a good farm. In single player, you can reach 50+ plat per hour, while in multiplayer I was able to break 100/hr. That means that leaving your farm running for a single day will easily net over 1k. I usually leave my farm running overnight and get an extra 1k by morning. That is way easier than farming luminite or chlorophyte for SDMG. I'm yet to run out of plat, having at least 20k+ any given day. Oh, and you can easily switch from offensive to regen/tank gear, so that you don't die even in Expert and never lose your coins.
My dick is incredibly tiny and I'm an idiot, but is the greedy coin or the coin ring and set up a jungle above water at an ocean with platforms and a slime, prevent the slime from leaving said platform, and leave it
Here's the thing about summoner.. everyone knows it doesn't quite make the level that magic or melee makes now in 1.4 but what I feel like people gotta realize is if you pair a summon like terraprisma or stardust dragon (stardust armor of course and summoner accessories) with using a zenith on the dummies too, the dpm will be absolutely insane

If you watched the video you would've seen that A: This is a very late-game test and using an early game weapon would not be fitting, and B: He already does tons of damage even without projectiles
What a lot of people leave out when testing summoner is the benefit of either focusing on movement or using another weapon to dish out additional damage. After snapshotting your summon, you can adapt your loadout to get a reasonable portion of the dmg. You can apply ichor to further boost dmg for example. The stationary minions, while kinda crappy, can also be helpful.
With the Stardust Dragon you also have to consider that its damage goes up with how many segments it has, so sometimes going for more summons can be better than going for more damage.
When the destroyer spawns, the whole worm spawns in a coil, and then unravels from that point. The startdust dragon went straight for that coil and hit so many more segments at once. This CAN be done with Melee, attacking the coil with solar eruption would yield similar results as summoner
Wouldn't summoner do more damage? Stardust dragon has higher base damage, let's say both classes hit all the segments at once, stardust dragon just needs to 'sit' at the coil and move back and forth to do damage, while Solar Eruption, whenever swing, will go outside the coil and have less opportunity to deal damage. IDK, correct me if I'm wrong.
@@dustytoyknife2343 Solar eruption would pierce all of those segments multiple times very quickly as it extends and retracts, Fetid Baghnakhs can do a similar effect but it isn't feasible to do it as reliably as most of the Destroyer would have uncoiled by the time you got into position. Last Prism, pre-firing, could kill Destroyer instantly, as in, it spawns, and is dead a few frames later.
Star wrath is good for doing this, because you can hit the coil as long as it’s on screen so you don’t have to move into position and I’m pretty sure the stars can pierce
Now that 1.4’s released, this video has aged like a carton of milk left out under the sun in a desert. Yeah no, warrior’s balanced, I don’t know what you’re talking about.
I just wanna mention that with the yo-yo testing unless I missed it it didn’t look like you had the yoyo bag on and it actually plays a lot into yo-yo dmg especially with terrarian as the 2nd yo-yo from the bag also has its own homing projectiles and quite literally doubles the dps of any yo-yo and is far greater than say a celestial stone especially after the update to make the stone and shell not stack anymore :) but it’s nice to see someone give yo-yo so love it’s honestly underrated and the easiest to boost dps as that 1 accessory doubles it and the rest can be put into more mobility/Tank items
@Smilezone bruh melee had the worst damage from the 4 classes it needed a stronger weapon and since it came in the last update ofc it's going to be ultra op
I believe that holy arrows will heavily outdps luminite arrows. Also, melee will do much better multitarget damage with a meowmere/starwrath than with the solar eruption, as they do significantly more damage and still pierce. The eruption is great for shooting through walls, and against invasions (if you haven't set up a meowmere specific arena), but against things like the destroyer the swords outclass it.
@@omertark1651 actually neither of you are right, as they both have some element of piercing which I like is what OP was getting at, piercing gives invulnerability and blah blah reduces dps I'm not going to go into the science of it. you want an arrow that does no piercing

23:57 if you aim the terrarian in front of the enemy, more of the bubbles will hit it, which exceeds the damage done if you actually try to directly hit the enemy itself with the terrarian, because most of the bubbles don't end up hitting the target. Rely on maximizing the homing bubbles for Max damage.
A quick note about Lucky vs Menacing: On average, they increase your damage by the exact same amount versus a target dummy., since dealing 4% extra damage 100% of the time and dealing 100% extra damage 4% of the time maths out to be the same. The reason Lucky is generally considered worse than Menacing is that the lucky crit damage applies AFTER armor, while Menacing applies before armor, so you end up getting a few extra damage per attack from using Menacing over Lucky.
@@DonutMaster56 The daybreak would theoretically have higher damage due to it's DOT on singular targets but in practice it's not effective, they only travel couple blocks before being affected by gravity. I personally like to use a ranger setup with ranged armour but then also get some summons to help me out. Every little bit of damage helps so even if you’re not using summoner items, a summon can still really help you out.
Something I think is a little important to mention. Always go lucky as a ranger with the S.D.M.G please... it’s the more consistent set cause you can easily get to a flat 100% critrate
Just get Class Emblems and some other Accessories, put everything on Menacing, get a Wrath and Rage Potion and some other class based potions, then buff yourself with a buff station. And I managed to get more DPS with the Last Prism without all the Mount and Water Buffs, just pure damage boosters.

For this, (before Zenith), if you get the Power Glove, Mechanical Glove, and Flame Gauntlet, then the celestial shell, Warrior Emblem, and Destroyer Emblem, all readied, then you used the Legendary Felix Bahgnackas(idk how to spell) and used all the buffs you normally use with tipsy, you can probably get a higher DPS than the Meowmere, because of the short range though, there's no way to apply this set up for the Multi Target set-up
I wonder, if you summoned one dragon with the first buffs, and then took accessories off and summoned the rest, would the rest of the dragon have the same damage buffs?

I've seen people upset about lack of melee damage, but I'd say it's a fair tradeoff for more defense. There are a few things I’d like to mention here as I feel like a lot of you will have questions about these things.
**CORRECTIONS**
Summoner:
Use Papyrus Scarab instead of Destroyer Emblem.

Just duplicate the coins
In a legitimate way, you can use leprechaun plus uneven surface to cause it to jump and drop cash constantly

The stationary minions are called sentrys
With the Stardust Dragon you also have to consider that its damage goes up with how many segments it has, so sometimes going for more summons can be better than going for more damage.
The fact that Stardust Dragon looks like a Stand is behind you, and you put menacing on all your weapons, makes me really happy.
thank you for enlightening me on the menacing part
@Abdus-Sami Sheikh both, stardust guardian is star platinum and stardust dragon is heirophant green.
@@noobishace2411 solar eruption dont have the highest dps tho...

Last Prism, pre-firing, could kill Destroyer instantly, as in, it spawns, and is dead a few frames later.
