    I am severely claustrohobic, but liked the video. This seems a great place to get an MRI scan and about 16 min for the shoulder, that came as a surprise.

      @@fetsluck3596, oh no. Sorry to hear. I know that I cannot do one without. My pain specialist offered me an MRI with sedation, meaning I would sleep through it. Xanax has always worked for me, but having all my body in there, that is still scary unless I could have it done where the video was taken. This lady seems terrific.

    My MRI test shows : Mild glenohumeral joint space narrowing, The glenohumeral and acromioclavicular joints are intact. Mild glenohumeral joint space narrowing. What does this mean ? I got injured at work .

    Are the sounds inside the tube actually that loud?! 😫 I'm having my first ever MRI on both my shoulders tomorrow and next week my neck. I have severe sensory issues and hate loud noises. All that stuff piled on top?! oh man, I'm very thankful they gave me a Valium for this. I also have ADHD and cannot fathom holding still for so long. I'm hoping I'm so tired from being up with anxiety tonight that I will be able to make it through without freaking out 😵‍💫🤞

    16 minutes? Why are other MRI techs telling me 30 to 45 minutes for shoulder scan?

    • @Madisonhealthidaho
      @Madisonhealthidaho  Год назад +1

      The scan time is dependent upon the scanner and the protocol used. Scan times will go up also based on patients weight. The protocol (number of sequences that the Radiologist wants) at Madisonhealth is approximately a 16 minute scan for a routine shoulder scan, on our Philips Ingenia scanner. That would be on the average 250lb person, if the patients weight is higher than that scanning times will increase slightly. Other places might vary depending on their brand of scanner. I hope this helps.

    Am now scared I'm gonna feel pinned down by the shoulder gadget!. Sensory issues and severe claustrophobia, can't take meds.
    Had head one ten years ago, operator put on gangster music, sounded like gunshots! wasn't told i could choose. I pressed button. Operator came in said you have two minutes out of 30 left, do not move. I was frozen . Put on smooth radio lol managed to complete.

    I just had an MRI, I have wide shoulders and they had to scan my right shoulder. It was not pleasant. It was cramped, loud and my shoulder was definitely killing me during the process. Thankfully, I gritted it out. I hope i never do that again.

    Is having a MRI Scan scary

    • @Healthydays-pn4dq
      @Healthydays-pn4dq 6 месяцев назад

      There are different kinds of MRI's available. There are some MRI's that are called open MRI's, and they are more spacious and less likely to cause claustrophobia. There are also MRI's that are called upright MRI's, and some facilities allow a person to watch television during the MRI scan. Also, many physicians offer their patients a sedative if they are going to get an MRI.

    Dang! How I wish I had this lady and facility for the MRI I went through last week. It was a terrible experience! They did not explain things to me, they did NOT offer music, they were NOT compassionate at all. They DID tell me my tattoo ink (I am covered in tattoos from the 80's) could burn me and to let them know with that button. At one point I pushed the button, because it had gone dead silent and I didn't know what was happening, and the girl yelled "DON'T PUSH THAT BUTTON!". Right there I was done. Don't tell someone to use a panic button then yell at them for doing so. Awful experience.

      That does indeed sound horrible. Some people these days are not as well trained, I think. If you can, go somewhere else the next time. For my last one I did a lot of research and went to an independent facility. The owner did the MRI himself and was very compassionate, but I always, always need a Xanax, unless it's my feet :-). I'm truly sorry for your horrible experience. BTW, you can also have them put you under for this, if that would help you and your insurance covers it.

      @@susilantz3507 Thank you so much, my doctor told me she would make sure I have a relaxer before the next one. She also contacted the facility and will not send me there again. There is an open side MRI near by I will go to next time. 🙂

      @@chueysmama2622 Best of luck. Even my sister, who is not claustrophobic had a problem with that. The doctor was able to talk her through it, but she decided only Open MRI from now on. Still, I think something that can calm you is better, if you have to go through it, or complete sedation, also possible.

      My one and only MRI was for my back. It was a closed MRI. The one in this video is an open MRI. Mine was completely black, no head phones, no light. No panic button. Was told to wiggle my feet if I freaked out. Completely entombed with lots noise for 45 min. I thought I was going to throw up but breathed through it. It's years later & I need one for my shoulder and I'm so nervous. I have an anxiety disorder as it is. Dreading this.
