Is the Regal S 690 PRO IR 6-Burner Propane Gas Grill still worth the investment? I am looking into some grills from $1500 to $2500 and would like to make sure I make the correct choice. Was gonna pull the trigger on the Prestige 500, but seen too many videos on it not evenly heating up, especially the front of the grill.
Hello, nice comparison. Thank you. In Europe however, the Napoleon importer does sell it for 3.4k € and for some inexplicable reason it does not include the rotisserie motor. If you buy that it will cost you 3.6k €. The Regal can be had for 2.9k€. In this case, would you still recommend the Napoleon to someone who doesn't care about smart features? What about the Regal S590 Pro IR for 2.4k€ vs Napoleon (same thing without smart features)? Thanks
Napoleons have uneven heat. Dig around into reviews and you’ll eventually see that it’s a common theme. Personally, I think the BK is not only a better value, but a better grill. Sure, the cooking chamber might not be one solid piece, but I sincerely don’t think it matters. They’ve figured out how to give you more heat, more evenly.
I just got a Prestige Pro 500 this summer and one of the only reasons I hesitated is that the grill has been out so long, the competition has had plenty of time to build something better. After seeing Broil King and Webers latest updates to their flagship grills I'm pretty haooy i went with the Napoleon.
I hear ya, I got mine in May so far, so good. I just wish the stainless steel on everything was the 303 like on the grill itself, the cabinets' side shelves, etc, cheap ass shit for a 2500 grill.
@@darind4920 did a test, after a preheat of 700F to make sure all the metal bars are fully hot. I get ambient temps of 250F-350F, with the lid open. Its hard to cook thin cuts of meats like skirt and chicken thighs.
I have a Prestige 500, I struggle to get any char on my food especially for thinner cut of meats like skirt steaks and boneless thighs without overcoocking it. Seems like my hands are tied with the side infrared burners, but its not practical with bigger cookouts. After a pre-heat (lid closed) at 700F for 10 minutes, IR thermometer shows that the heat plates get up to 650F up to 690F, as well as the grill grates. Radiant heat using a probe hovering half an inch from the grate jumps between 250F to 320F (Center), and 250F to 390F (Sides) These numbers were taken with the lid open after the initial preheat. You think I have an issue with my model?
Thank you for your videos!! I went to buy a grill from you guys but the shipping was $200. I understand that you need to charge for shipping, but with Amazon offering free shipping $200 is too much of a difference to buy from your store.
I think there's a little misconception about the Broil King Regal/Imperial. All hi-end grills, Firemagic and whatever else in this price region, are using constructions completely made of stainless steel, the whole cook box is stainless steel. The Regal and Imperial are somehow a compromise between using stainless steel and cost efficiency, the side caps are still the cheap cast aluminum, bottom is double lined stainless steel. The Regal gets certainly faster hot then a Baron. And the heat reflection of the stainless steel is much superior to cast aluminum. Everybody who says something different has no idea of physics.
Thanks for your input! You’re right-the Regal and Imperial grills do mix stainless steel and cast aluminum to balance performance and cost. Stainless steel heats up faster and reflects heat better, while the cast aluminum keeps the grills durable and affordable. It’s all about getting the best of both worlds!
Just based on looks the Napoleon is night and day better to look at. I had a 500 Pro it was wonderful but to be honest gas grilling is kind is boring to me. Great for week night cooks when don’t have the time to mess with the charcoal
You gotta wonder if the people designing these grills ever use there products. Sticking ice next to a heat source is a bone head move. Smart features are nice but need to have a back up.
IMHO in a few years: While the smart grill guys are looking for spare parts for their “noble” controllers and trying to get an outdated app to work on their current smartphones, the “old school” guys will just carry on grilling on their conventional grills.
Napoleon still wins....I don't see this as a close comparison just because of some visual display which'll probably break being outside...also, price point aside, comparing internal grilling space of a 4 burner Napoleon vs 5 burner Broil King doesn't make sense as obviously a 5 burner would have more cooking space...the better comparison would be with the Prestige Pro 665 to be honest if we're going to look at comparable features...the IQ just looks like a more beefed up Weber genesis smart grill with a searer on the side
Broil King, for sure. More even heat across the grates. You won’t hear it from Trevor, but Napoleons suffer from uneven heat. BK is much more even, and gets hotter.
I would love to buy one, put me together an order for 1, this grill is amazing!

Can the Smart Grill send & receive text messages? Do you need a special app for sirloin ?

I personally like both! But we appreciate your feedback and hopefully it helps others. Cheers!

Thinking the exact same thing, however, I’m convinced Napoleon will be coming out for an update on this.

Are you having issues getting char on your food when grilling?
@@caleblococaleb I've done about 20 cooks at this point and haven't had any issues getting char on the food.

What’s your thoughts on Monument Mesa grills? Wanted to find a review on your channel but couldn’t
Yeah we dont do Monument. Ive heard of them, but I dont have much of an opinion.

Yeah exactly! Gas is great for that quick grill and the smoker for the weekends 😁 Thanks for watching!
How long before the smart features break, and then you don’t have the backup manual features.
It has manual mode too 👍

Haha right!
The new Weber Summit wasn't even considered for comparison because it would be a complete waste of time with how disappointing it is lol

I totally agree. Especially with how fast all this tech is coming out its also going to go obsolete just as fast.
