I think the craziest part of Hot Ones, is that Sean asks the most in depth, deep, and intelligent questions of any interview show there is. They dig deep, to learn everything they can about their guests, and don't just ask them the generic same set of questions over and over.
This is why I keep watching beyond the novelty, he's great in every interview. I used to skip guests that weren't familiar to me, but after seeing his interviews I always prefer these to the standard media-blitz rotation.
It causes a certain irony when he appears on other shows, and it's clear those interviewers know him nowhere near as well as he's known his own past guests and their bodies of work. I get that they have too many guests for that to be feasible, but the difference is stark. Hot Ones is the only celebrity interview show I've ever found interesting, because you actually get to see the real people underlying the facades. (Maybe not in Conan's case - I think he's always fully himself...)
Sean Evan is somehow still underrated as an interviewer. Conan in his moment of clarity, gave him one of the most genuine compliments I've ever heard during that episode.

This interview just helped me realize that Sean Evans has started to change the game for mainstream media interviewing as a whole. Hoda asked him about his first job as a tour guide years ago. That’s the exact type of question that Sean asks people:) All these interviewers are seeing the value of deep, thoughtful, well researched questions from hot ones and are taking notes. It’s a beautiful thing for the industry to honor the guest and it increases the viewership experience. Years ago Tori Kelly was interviewed on Sway in the morning. One of the hosts started commenting about her music and then said “I’ve only listened to two songs”. Kelly made a nice, gentle zinger back to him about listening more to her music before making a judgment call. Sean Evan’s probably spends 40 hours researching and crafting questions for a single guest. I do think 10 years from now the average mainstream interviewer will have at least moderately improved questions based on Sean’s influence!!
I think Sean has referenced him before, but canadian interviewer Nardwaur always got crazy reactions by knowing so much about each guest and asking questions they never usually got when doing interviews. Sean is one of the best interviewers in the business, and Conan is now the GOAT guest of Hot Ones (along with being the GOAT late night talkshow host).
Sean is such a great host. Jenna & Hoda both cut him off so often during this segment, he had to rephrase a lot of his follow up answers to answer previous questions they bulldozed him on. Just shows what a difference really being interested in your guests makes vs having to put on for whatever segments you get.
I love that “Today” tries to tell us what “Hot Ones” is, as if “Hot Ones” isn’t 98% more recognizable and relevant to all audiences than “Today” at this point.
One of the main reasons it has lasted 10 years, besides all of us waiting for Da Bomb reactions, is the great researching job Sean does and his enjoyable personality. How many times have we heard, "How did you know about that?" And Dr Arroyo saved Conan!🤣
Been a fan since the Hot Ones🔥 show started on RUclips. To finally see Sean Evans & the team of the show getting the recognition & respect they deserve is ABSOLUTE PERFECTION! 👏🏼His interview questions are so insightful the guests are always impressed as are we the audience. His charming demeanor with his ability to lead the conversation or sit back to ensure the guests get to answer in totality are appreciated. Main stream media has intervened in the interview process so much seems we’ve lost the connection to their guests. Almost always just an appearance to promote promote promote which we understand yet still feels lacking in any & all sincerity. It’s too the point it’s overly orchestrated & curated. We as the audience enjoy the authenticity of the Hot Ones🔥 interviews that they provide by being in a fun relaxed environment. Sean is STELLAR as at his job! He has navigated so many personalities & although you can see guests are sometimes resistant with their stories, he makes it seem effortless. It's really special to see the chemistry that's able to happen because of the hard work they put into researching, along with the trust that comes from consistently working to create authentic experiences for the interviewee.
In my head, I can't help thinking the entire time I'm watching this interview if hoda and Jenna aren't in their heads jealously thinking "well why haven't you asked me to do your show"
It’s the organic reaction of the guests. Gets me every time
Love it.
Let's be honest... We all come here for Conan.
And Dr. Arroyo.
Not all of us, I came to hear what Sean has to say about the Conan experience on Hot Ones.
Sean Evans is the GOAT. He's so chill and intelligent. Can not think of a more perfect host for the show.
A big part of the success is that Sean doesn't try to out-funny the guests. He asks very intelligent and insightful questions that we love to hear the answers to. Meanwhile, the guest is slowly imploding before our eyes. Great concept. Great host. Great prep. Great products!
"he's not the best but he's affordable" 😂
We are so happy for you. So kind words at the end!
I've been on an architectural boat tour in Chicago and I've gotta say, those tour guides are some pretty awesome people with a very charismatic job. I could only imagine the wonders that job did for Sean in order to succeed at this unexpected dream job. Congrats, I hope they get an Emmy for that show someday, best interviewer in the game, this guy!
Sean is the best interviewer, hands down!
The love and positivity here is overwhelming. God bless you all!
Sean is one of the best interviewers in the business, and Conan is now the GOAT guest of Hot Ones (along with being the GOAT late night talkshow host).
Good to see Sean and the Hot Ones guys getting some spotlight for an epic production!
It's Sean research and the fact he is 100% genuine that makes the show. The sauce and the effects of this is important, but Sean IS the show.
Because Sean is such a good interviewer, plus it’s a fun concept.
Sean is such a great host. Jenna & Hoda both cut him off so often during this segment, he had to rephrase a lot of his follow up answers to answer previous questions they bulldozed him on. Just shows what a difference really being interested in your guests makes vs having to put on for whatever segments you get.
Who was that guy on hot ones with dr. Arroyo?
"You're not a real doctor are you?"
"I should be" 😎
Sean keeping the Arroyo bit going is amazing.
Love seeing Sean and Conan together.
A dream came true
I love that “Today” tries to tell us what “Hot Ones” is, as if “Hot Ones” isn’t 98% more recognizable and relevant to all audiences than “Today” at this point.
The “Today” audience would not be familiar with “Hot Ones.” Not the same medium and demographic. Hence why it would be worth Sean Evan’s time to do.
You must not be aware that old people exist
I bet most of their audience don’t know Hot ones lol
One of the main reasons it has lasted 10 years, besides all of us waiting for Da Bomb reactions, is the great researching job Sean does and his enjoyable personality. How many times have we heard, "How did you know about that?" And Dr Arroyo saved Conan!🤣
Getting interviewed by Sean must be a transformative experience!
I've watched the show for years and Conan was by far the best guests on hot ones he elevated it to levels I thought weren't possible
I was watching conan needs a friend talking about that episode. Conans commitment to the bit is legendary.
Seeing his guests appreciate him as much as we do is the cherry on top! Congratulations to Sean Evans & everyone who makes the Hot Ones🔥 the success IT IS!!! 👏🏼 Please keep doing what you’re doing & growing your platform without losing its Value. We’ll be here to support you all & the journey 💜
I love Sean, he is also one of the best interviewers there is, many of his guest have commented on that also.
I know a guy who knows a guy who has a 2nd cousin that went to Dr. Arroyo when he major foot pain. Dr. Arroyo said it was fine. He was absolutely right. 5 stars and I absolutely would recommend.
10 years of his show and he still comes off as a the most down to earth easy going talk show host. Genuine approachable vibes, it’s not that common.
