eren killing his mother is totally shit. I am kind of disappointed about the ending.I hope they cut that when eren kills his mother using the founding titan power. I know he can manipulate the past through memory but this is different, he manipulated his father through path . he didn't use power to control his father titan or any other titans . he manipulated his father through his memory in path - which is different thing from controlling past existed titans.just think this means eren can manipulate the past and can control titan which existed in the past which eren can use to end another better way and he didn't have to go through all of this and his friends who have killed they don't have to die. This is why eren killing his mother should not happen in the ending.

AoT peaked for me with the ocean scene back in the s3 finale. Afterwards it went into a direction that simply made me lose faith in it with each and every chapter and episode. The fact that Isayama himself admits multiple times that he had struggles with writing the ending, the latest interview having him admit that he deviated from his original course almost entirely....says a lot but ofc the fandom purposefully misunderstood his words cause they insist on putting him on a pedestal as a flawless genius of a writer (when he isn't).
I guess he struggled because it was all fine when it was humans vs titans. But when Jean, Connie, Sasha, Armin killing fellow cadets, Eldians, and Marleyans make it so out of their character. It's like Season 4 is a separate anime with time travel, pedophilia, and worm shit. Should've stayed away from political/genocidal/plot twist sake route and stick to discovery and pursuit of how to reverse engineer being a Titan so they cannot pose a threat to the outside world. It's attack on titans after all not attack on humans.
You know how many people I’ve debated with and they told me that Eren wasn’t the person Ymir was waiting for , when the first Chapter says To you , 2,000 years From Now and chapter 122 is titled From You , 2,000 years ago 🙄💀
You could also show them the scene where Eren "freed" her and compare it to Mikasa freeing her. One has more logic and emotional weight while the other came from nowhere.
@@tremel7336 The scene where Eren freed Ymir actually was Eren re-igniting her enslavement to the 1st King. Eren's goal and the wishes/commands of the King are exactly the same. titans dominating the world till the end. Logically think about it. How does Eren using Ymir to carry out the wishes of the man who enslaved her be freeing her? Ymir has no beef with the world. Her only enemy are the King and the Eldians. anytime that Ymir is fighting for Eldia or being pro Eldia is a sign of bondage. Ymir wanting to help Eldians destroy the rest of the world isn't logical. Has no emotional weight and it's similar to The Jews helping the Nazi's wipe out the world. Ymir having any ill will against anyone but the Eldians is illogical and has no emotional weight. It makes no sense.
@@chinyereugwu9431 That would make sense if at any point Eren argued for her to join him or even suggest she destroy the rest of the world. @@user-qx1id1dt8x Again, that makes no sense. Even if you want to discount the comparison of Eren and Ymir's scene to Mikasa and Ymir's scene. Why is Mikasa specifically the one she waits on? Other point, why can Eren even turn into a colossal titan in the ending? I know most people assume that it’s an ability of the founding titan that we just never saw before but… why is Eren even able to do that? Considering that Zeke being killed stopped the rumbling, shouldn’t Eren have been locked out of all the other founding titan abilities as well at that point? And if Eren didn’t need Zeke to use that power, does that mean he could’ve used any other titan ability throughout all of timeskip and just never did? Also, if he could just grab any titan ability using the founder, what was even the point of him getting the warhammer? I don’t get it man…
@@Odin69not a plot hole. He’s able to transform again. Because it’s the residual effects of the founding titan. @@JamesGun-wm2vhYou say that, but the rumbling (a.k.a. the coordinate) stopped *immediately* after Zeke died, which shows us that, at least in this case, there shouldn’t have been any lingering effect at play. That is unless you think Eren gave up and stopped the titans of his own accord. That can’t be the case though, because he keeps fighting after the titans stop, showing us that he still wanted to win. @@texting7856at this point I don’t know if this ending will eventually be remembered as bad. Manga ending had many defenders at the start but more and more started disliking it.
In my opinion, the worst addition in the anime is the doubling down on determinsm. Many people who enjoyed the ending did so because Eren was a "slave to his freedom." But that very idea is contradicted in this episode. If Eren was truly a slave to his ideology, he would've done anything in his power to achieve his goal. He would have done a 100% rumbling. Eren even explains it, "It's already been predetermined... things always occurred exactly how I saw them in my memories... So so many times, I tested it, all to avail. " The future is set in stone. No matter if Eren attempts to do otherwise, fate limits his actions. The events of the story no longer lie with its character's motivation but determinsm. They happen simply happen because Isayama wrote them that way. Eren can now only be explained as an idiot, who followed the path set before him, with no autonomy or free will. Eren isn't a character anymore, but instead a plot device.
I mean he did. If his friends didn't stop him he would have gone with it. The problem with this statement is his friends. He gave his friends the freedom to stop him. Knowing that he made the best possible ending for them. Also, with the amount of foreshadowing, themes that everyone is a slave to something since the uprising arc, Eren being portrayed as a little kid, and him looking into the future and past debating which route he would take over and over again this ending is the best he saw in his eyes. He had the choice to see everything through, but not the freedom to change that final result. Eren is still a character and yes he is also a plot device. You may not like it, but Isayama decided to show Eren as this pathetic and average "garden variety idiot" after rewriting the script for the ending. Eren has never had anything special other than the power given to him. He wasn't the smartest, strongest, fastest, etc. He was just a normal dude who was given the power to make his selfish desires to come true. If Isayama was trying to portray anything else he would have changed that entire conversation between him and Armin and done a 180.
@nopenopenopepikachu5206 Eren could've easily made it entirely impossible for the Alliance to ever reach him, allowing their freedom and the safety of Paradis. Destroying the flying boat makes it entirely impossible for them to reach Eren by the time he completes 100%. Floch could've sent a small team to destroy the boat. Even in the story as it happened, Daz or Samuel could've blown up the dynamite by simply shooting it. The rewiring is unnecessary. The only possible explanation in the story is that they're all "idiots". If there are solutions that the characters would want according to their motivations, you must have a better explanation than "They're too dumb to think of that". That's bad writing. Even as an alternative, Floch could've sent a team along with the engineers, removing a key component from the flying boat, disabling it, but also allowing it to be useful after the rumbling is complete. Also, saying Eren has nothing special about him is entirely counter to Carla's ideology, which was instilled into Eren. He is special because be was born into this world.
Broooooooo. Come on! He is also a slave of protecting his friends. That is the most easy part to understand of his character. His pov freedom his not black nor white but most people like you have that simple mindset. Everything happened is the best solution overall for him. Why should he have killed his closest people who are his catalyst for living? That would be a character assassination. Holyyyy why do you all have that lack of understanding media?
@@marcanthony0519 I mean, what kind of mother wouldn't tell their own child that they're special? And as for the boat thing, it's not like Eren is this mastermind that would think of every little detail that would happen. "But what about the invasion of Liberio and everything that was orchestrated in the estire final season?" you may ask. Eren already saw everything going down in his memories, he was just acting accordingly to what he saw in those memories, and even then he was trying to see if there was an alternative to the situation only to realize there is no other way. When Connie tells everyone that Sasha dies, Eren starts laughing and crying realizing that there really in no other option
You just have that Nazi pov where only your own race should survive. He never cared about his race in general. That was just a facade to convince Floch so the alliance killed him to end the curse.

Yeah season 1to 3 meant nothing. Ultimately I can't imagine an ending where eldia has a chance in the future because isayama make it so the world hates this island and not marley. It could have been easy to correct attack on titan instead of the world hating eldia they instead hate marley and with the power of the titans of eldia secure the future of the world from titans. Eren can still get rid of titan powers after that and before he dies removes titans from the world like he did in the anime it would have been so much better. After everything isayama did he was planning to make the ending hopeless so at least have marley win in the end. I would have wanted that then what we got. Eren's whole character is not a hopeless person dragged by Fate

Because he was born into this world. Because he is free. What a waste of a story and time. Never reading anything from Isayama again 😄
Absolute brain dead take. Eren was a 19 year old child with 2000 years of memories at once and tremendous power. If you watched since s1 , you'd see he was willing to kill "Every single titan " , but now it was "Kill every single enemy" across the sea. At the end of season 3 you can see him say this "If we kill everyone across the sea , would we finally be free?" . His intentions were always clear from the start , just that morally , he felt worse over time after visiting Marley and seeing that people were the same as Paradis. He was never a gigachad stoic dude. He just felt like there was no other way , which was his critical and selfish flaw. He was a flawed character within AOT and that's why the genocide happened. I have some issues with the ending, but I think there are some good notes in it too, and it's grown on me. My interpretation was that people have dreams, interests, and love that control them. Ymir was a slave to her love, Eren was a slave to freedom, etc. And the two of them failed to rise above those core aspects of their person. Mikasa's significance was that she managed to love Eren (kept scarf) even while breaking away from him, and killing him, because she knew she had to do the right thing, rather than be a slave to her love. BUT she still kept the scarf because I think Isayama was saying that people can't and maybe shouldn't discard their core interests, dreams, or love; they just have to be able to act against it even while believing in it, as otherwise you can be drivin to doing unspeakable things. Eren embodied being unable to prioritize other things over his core dream. The fact that he wanted to wipe away everything, and even killed his mom is because he couldn't reach the complex state that Mikasa did, where she was able to act despite her feelings. Eren called himself an idiot because I felt that he knew he was a failure in that regard. He knew he couldn't do it, and he hated himself for it. And that's why he only put up a half-hearted fight against the alliance at the end. He continued forward, until he was stopped by someone he simply couldn't put freedom over.
That would make sense...if Isayama gave context onto how or why Ymir came to love King Fritz when our perspective showed that she was just a slave to his will (until the very last moments) and Eren (until the very last moments) seems to be more of a slave to Ymir's will than his own freedom.

But either way, I am glad that there is people who are standing towards critical analisis and not letting the ending defenders erase the lessons and interpretations of this anime for their own agendas. Your video also helped me understand more why it felt so disappointing for me which I'm also thankful. I'd understand if he did it to keep Paradis from being wiped out, but JUST for your friends throws the entire thing out the window, because it's no longer believable. I'll break it down for the slow people, because a lot of people don't understand how it works: 1. If Eren doesn't do the rumbling, Paradis gets destroyed, but the rest of the world gets to live. 2. If Eren does the rumbling, but only does 80%, Paradis gets destroyed. 3. If Eren does the rumbling and completes it, Paradis does NOT get destroyed. (A lot of copers think civil war will destroy Paradis, but US had a civil war and is still standing, lmao) Now let's continue: 1. If Eren doesn't do the rumbling, his friends are toast, but the rest of the world gets to live. 2. If Eren does the rumbling, but only does 80%, his friends live a full life. 3. If Eren does the rumbling and completes it, his friends live a full life. Now, which one of the 3 options makes the most sense for Eren to do? That's correct! It's number 3 😁 Because number 3 not only ensures Paradis future, but ALSO ensures his friends future. (80% will always result in Paradis destruction, and it doesn't even guarantee his friends safety, it was just a hunch that it would) (Also, number 1 is actually the second best choice, and practically aligns with Zeke's, as you might be killed, but at least the rest of the world gets to live) If his goal was ONLY to protect his friends, then it doesn't hurt to ALSO protect Paradis. You can even get rid of the titan curse afterwards, and then the Eldians would repopulate the entire world and there would be no more "Let's destroy Paradis because we don't trust Eldians" because they'd literally all be descendants. Most ending defenders will still not comprehend after reading this. But here's hoping that some of them are able to think critically and not just emotion based and see that this is one of the major reasons the ending is so flawed. Also, for the folks who keep crying about how it's "showing the cycle of violence" you can show the cycle of violence by showing a civil war in Paradis after between Yeagerists and Alliance. Not to mention that although cycle of violence is a real thing, this is still a written story at the end of the day. Having a conclusion that is just "this is how the world is" is very lackluster and can be represented without butchering the ending.
Isayama had Paradis get destroyed to show that no matter what you do peace is not eternal. There will always be hatred. There will always be fear. There will always be greed. That's just human nature. Not to mention how that happened years after the main cast died. Eren wanted his loved ones to long and happy lives. And they did.
If u are making a show to represent peace for eternity is not plausible and don't want to promote genocide (u will get banned everywhere)but on the same time u want to show how desperate ur protagonist is to experience freedom, u remember freedom scene(ch131)? Now, what's the right option?
@@swordmaster8362 paradis got destroyed because eren did a 80% rumbling and let the 20% survive, they didn't get destroyed because it was about human nature and eventually got themselves into another war, and eren's goal was supposed to be about saving paradis
You're wrong though. In the manga its revealed that Eren was willing to kill the entire rest of the world ,not just 80% simply because of the childish rage he had since S1. It was initially "Kill all titans" , to "Kill all enemies" . But by the end he wasn't sure if it was the right decision ,so his mind was fucked as he suggested to Armin. He was in fact willing to destroy the entire world for paradis ,more importantly BECAUSE HE HAD THE POWER TO like he did in the fight vs Annie in S1 ,simply because he could and the rest stopping him was a freedom he gave them. That's a major point you're missing .It doesent justify mass murdering but ,having 2000 years of time flow at once and have so much power at 19 years old is too much for anyone to handle.
Eren killed 80% instead of 100% of the population which on a global scare means he killed a billion less people than if he had completed the rumbling. And also the big issue with what you’re saying is paradis doesn’t get destroyed until thousands of years later. No country in human history has lasted that long. He guaranteed paradis’ safety for that long while
I think suppressed my thoughts on the ending until i saw the epsiode and no everything is coming back to me. firstly we can tell the whats the quality of writing on this ending part based on whats been talked about when it comes to end, and only thing everyone is talking about is romance between Eren and Mikasa or whether or not mikasa is still a virgin when she dies(I'm not even kidding). secondly, the shot where theres a bunch of ammo casing near erens grave where simultaneously satisfying af because eren really deserves to get front seats of paradis getting attacked and a kick to balls because cant even say floch was right (he was) because they shifted the destruction timeline far forward in future :/ thirdly, the series has taught me to never get invested into a series which has not ended yet. also im never picking up anything written by Hajime(NTR fan)isayama again.
One of the things that I noticed is that many/most of the people that are calling the AOT anime ending a masterpiece have never read the manga. Sure, the anime ending made some minor improvements from the manga, but that doesn’t change the objective fact that there are still plot holes and inconsistencies. Also, I’ve been noticing that the so many Eren x Mikasa shippers have been going bat shit crazy these last few days against anyone who not only criticized the ending but are attacking people who support Eren x Historia shippers. PS. Eren and Historia had way more chemistry. Both symbolically and thematically had more things in common.
Eren and Historia had 0,000000% chemistry. I never understood those chads who wanna ship Eren with the queen. That means you want to be a stone cold mofogger who bangs the queen. That says more about you than about the story. It never was about Eren becoming a giga chad killer and that's it.
What is the message of the anime? Genocide actually works great if you're doing it to protect your friends and family? In the anime is showed Paradis being annihilated like 700 - 1000 years or more into the future which means genocide does work and more people should be like Eren. Genocide is amazing (sarcasm) They should have just stuck with the 100 year later buildings instead of timeskip to 700 - 1000
can I know the background music you used? its really calming and Id like to listen to it when I'm anxious. and also, great video! i still can't get over the ending it hurts.
Nice video I also feel that way seen the the end of the battle of heaven and earth It was sad some way but when the battle end, but then ocurr that part with Armin and first I was like what the heck and then just laughing all that segment, by the nonsense of all that retconning that change the narrative from the very first epidode of AoT. Starting with the crying and whining of that Eren because of the probability of Mikasa with another man, and the most hilarious part of all this MAPPA dared to animated in the post-credits the ten years that Eren want to Mikasa stsy alone and apparently married to someone else; Also now he does start all the rumbling because he was an idiot,... with power. Yo! Eren just confirmed he is just a psycho nothing else. And the part the he sacrifice his mother because Berthold has to live is also a freaking contradiction of everything we saw from the start, with this he confirmed and the reason for this is becauseis gonna "Ymir just know",... and thats the BIGGEST REVELATION because that mean he wasn't in control it was Ymir who was controlling the events and he judt was following her all the whole time and the whole Rumbling it wasn't for freeing the eldians of the hate of the world it was just because she need that Mikasa kill Eren. Also the part with Mikasa and Ymir I don't see any similarity with her first Ymir was a mistreating slave meanwhile Mikasa the opposite. All that Iwas so forced and unconvincing that just waste the whole narrative from the very start. Just to add It wasn't even Historia, Mikasa and even Armin all the time was Ymir for Eren.
There was no need to start the rumbling and genocide. The author could have changed the story and saved Eren’s character. To show Ymir Mikasa’s love for Eren, he killed 80% of the population of different parts of the world. Those people might not even know about Eldians. After plotting that story, it was the only option left to kill Eren. The author should have changed the story before the rumbling.
I think there are problems with the ending, but you are assuming Eren is in his right mind and is thinking logically, i think that this is not the case, as he said past present and future are all messed up in his head and he shut down his emotions to avoid collapsing into a bumbling mess before the Rumbling. I think that “the moment” is just him releasing all that suppressed madness. I just think that by this point his words should not be taken as seriously as the Eren from S1 to S3 as he is clearly not in his right mind, not like anyone killing off 80% of humanity could remain in their right mind while doing it. As i said, there are problems, i just think this scene is not one of them.
Eren should have succeeded in killing off everything outside of Paradis and then the timeskip ending shows that there is a civil war 100 years or 200 years later. There will always be war, no matter what you do. It doesn't even matter if you kill everyone outside of Paradis. More land and more greed, civil war. It shows Eren's decision was wrong in the end. There is no peace no matter what you do. This depressing message would have been more better than the message that genocide makes peace last for 700 - 1000 years
As an anime only my only complaint is the whole power of love bs with ymir and Mikasa and Eren loving Mikasa the way he did I think if tht was gone I'd love everything about the ending, I liked tht erens conquests was nothing but a failure in the long term and eren being the only one not free
As someone who was obsessed with GOT for a decade, trust me the difference between this and GOT is that I'll never personally recommend someone to watch GOT or rewatch it myself. AOT's ending is mid but not bad in a way that I would say I regret watching it. I still watch it and recommend AOT to people while GRRM is a dead man to me
Yeah, the ending sucks but it hasn't killed the rewatchability. However, it did made me not take the show seriously. The problem is thst people just overhyped it too much and put it on a pedestal. Anyway, this is just a Japanese cartoon.
Remember this meme? Main character: Eren Jaeger Executive Producer: Eren Jaeger Director: Eren Jaeger Side Characters: Eren Jaeger And now… Professional Idiot: Eren Jaeger
I watched the first three seasons a year before the fourth season came out. I fell in love with the series, despite the flaws it already had. But. Even as an anime only watcher, I was sad how the ending was handled. The post credits scene doesn’t really bother me. It’s just how contrived everything felt leading up to it. The ending had some great moments and visuals but a lot of the plot felt jumbled… Idk if Isayama was rushed or in a time crunch, who knows… But, I have come to accept how it ended, or at least, I got over it lol. I appreciate the series for shaping my interests and art throughout the years (I love drawing big scary creatures and titans) And at least I had fun watching it with my sister, she laughed so fucking hard when Mikasa kissed Eren’s decapitated head. And I gasped because I honest to god through Eren and Armin we’re gonna make out. Even though the ending was jumbled and confusing at times, I appreciate watching this and having fun with my sister.
8:47 I thought the answer to that is obvious, they dont need to spoon feed their audience. Why would eren know the answer to that. They give enough context for the audience to concluded that Mikasa showed her that you can love someone and still do the right thing and let go. Everyone keeps talking about the "only ymir knows" scene. Its crazy how so many people didnt understand the ending or erens character
I mean the ending just turns Eren into the biggest Idiot in that universe. Like seriously the way it all turned out Zekes plan would have gotten the same end but without idk 80 fucking % of the planet dying. . .
Everyone understood the scene it just doesn’t make ANY sense lol. Mikasa and erens relationship is beyond far from Ymir and king fritz relationship. And for Ymir to even form a bond with fritz is beyond crazy lmao. It’s just not the best writing.
@@evansimon5231 Why people defend the non existent ñove relationship between mikasa and eren??? There's zero build up to thar relation and it was mostly one sided by mikasa side. Eren never view her as a love interest. Of all the thing to defend, they defend one that it does not have any aolid build up or evidence of a relationship
10:04 excuse me? How do you want it to look? Yeah most Aot Manga only’s are picky af… the animation is incredible. And give eren a break, dudes been grinding for freedom all of his life for nothing, had to sleep every night knowing it was for nothing and that he was going to die and get his friends killed, and turn against Mikasa and Armin even though they were the ones he cared about the most… this dude got everything taken away from him, nobody listened to him, and he suffered the entire time, he watched his mother get eaten when he was 10, and hundreds of innocent people die. Yet people get pissed when he acts desperate, despite getting EVERYTHING taken away from him. He wanted to be with Mikasa and armin and be happy like he once was… that’s all he wanted. And you’re telling me he can’t have that after all that he’s been through?!
Isn't Isayama a part of the anime's creation? All this "damage control" was added, if not greenlit by him. He wanted to make what he was trying to portray clearer, because he admits, if because of his own self-confidence or people's bullying of him, that he failed there. These changes are what he wanted, so less people got the wrong idea. I really liked the ending, even when I read the manga 2 years ago. I know I won't change your opinion about most things if not anything at all, but there's one part this video that really bothers me. Without Bertholdt living, Armin would have died. I don't think was about him needing an orgin story, he wanted to save Armin and sacrificed his mom to do it. If not, then he still saved Armin. That makes the beginning of this story all the more tragic, because it starts with Eren saving a friend, just like how the story ends with him saving him. Then again, I dont know anything about writing a story so my opinion doesn't matter, and I'm probably wrong abouy the interpretation. But that's okay, y'know, because I like it because of my own personal feelings and thoughts, just like how others will like or dislike it because of their own personal ideas. I hope you find peace with the story, because losing your heart towards all of it because of the ending is hard. I'm truly sorry you that you feel this way and I'm sure it sucks. This story probably meant a lot to you.
@@UnknxwnXL0 But he didn't, and without the healing, Armin would have died when he was shot to bits 4 years later. Plus Paradis needed the colossal titan.
@@UnknxwnXL0That's true, and I thought about that too I was typing it this morning, so I probably should have just backspaced it, but it's not the point, my friend. Eren wanted Armin. We could get into the character analysis side too if you'd appreciate that instead? Like how without Armin gaining the colossal titan, he wouldn't have had the responsibility of Erwin's death on his shoulders. He would have stayed the same person who believed he was just another expendable soldier. If he hadn't sacrificed himself to defeat Bertholdt, it's possible he would have done it at another point, because that's who Armin was before he needed to prove himself worthy of having the colossal. Him surviving instead of Erwin is an important part of who he is now, especially as a character.
@@deskbop well at this point,we’re going to be talking about headcanons and hypothetical scenarios. But the point is that it makes no sense for Eren to kill his mother.Dina could’ve easily been written off as an abnormal titan especially since she had the resolve to follow Grisha before she turned into a titan.
I enjoyed it even after watching this video, not any more or less. I’m not gonna defend it or anything but I thought it worked in the story. Just my opinion I’m ready for the hate
17:29 I made that image lmao. Nice. Ending defenders INSISTED Erren reached his goal and his friends were safe. They changed their story after the extra pages were confirmed real
Thank you man, what a breath of fresh air. its rare finding real people like you, cant believe these pretentious ah people think the ending is good. it had some interesting, profound concepts here and there, but overall, put together - i cant even fathom how much of a mess it was. these japanese manga creators man, they come up with the craziest, unseen stories with godly concepts, but either they drop the manga completely or they give it a shitty ending, its just too much for them to handle man, cant blame them.
Just think about it: Isayama managed to create a silent character, with ZERO dialogue and ZERO monologue but still explore her backstory, struggles, suffering, mystery around her motivation, set such amazing parallels between her, the mc, historia, freckled Ymir, zeke and frieda only through her emotions and actions, symbolism and visuals, he connected it with aot's themes and its lore. He managed to write THIS... so she, ymir fritz, got to be destroyed by 3 gd lines ("only Ymir knows...", "ymir loved the king fritz" and "she was waiting for mikasa") Just... why? WTH? FOR WHAT? Where do I begin? Well, her love for the king... Firstly, no way it's Stockholm syndrome cuz this shit works differently. You guys read about it yourselves. So, no. Secondly, WHEN did she start to develop feelings for him? Before freeing the pigs? After their marriage? After getting pregnant? When? Thirdly, WHY does she have affection for her husband? He ruined her life in every way, he abused her physically and mentally, he did the same thing to their children but she... Uh, ok, let's see (as if we could). If she loves him, why does she disobey him by freeing the pigs and not regenerating? Why doesn't she smile or isn't happy when he's around? Why does she want him dead instead of her and regrets not letting fritz die? If she regretted this whole time, doesn't it mean she already put herself and her daughters above her husband so the titan curse could end sooner? Now, ymir and mikasa... Their connection has NO buildup. It's never hinted at something common between these two throughout the entire show. The Ackerman's headaches had no allusion to the goddess. So why mikasa? What about this woman made fritz choose her? The fact she was an Ackerman? Or the person who was able to kill the love of her life? Um, couldn't ymir find someone else, like, sooner, 282 years ago for example, among millions of people, within 2000 years? Or it's because mika killed the founder when it separated from hallucigenia? Who knows, who cares... Why even show so many well-written parallels between ymir fritz, eren, historia and freckled ymir if they have no payoff? Why does Ymir find herself in mikasa but not historia whom she has much more in common with? Historia is a better version of her, so why not wait for reiss? For what reason does she pick a girl with no dignity, self-respect and ability to move on or grow up? How are her relationship with fritz and eremika bond even similar? Eren didn't treat mikasa the way fritz treated his wife. Eren saved and freed mikasa, that tyrant enslaved and and turned his woman's life into a nightmare. The mc and the king are complete OPPOSITES just like mika and ymir. What would she do if mikasa suddenly changed her mind and didn't kill eren? Wait for 2000 years for someone again? How can mikasa help her move on from the king if ackerman didn't move on from eren herself? Next, if Ymir was the one to make titans in the paths, who made her titan? Was the hallucigenia a separate organism or was it connected to fritz after giving her titan powers? If it wasn't connected to her, then why did it disappear instead of trying to find a new holder? Why was it trying to find one at first but vanished after Eren's death? So the founder's death affects it? Then the hallucigenia should have died when Ymir died. But they're not connected, are they? Or the opposite? Ugh... Why did the founder split into 9 titans? Why not 6 or 27 or 3 if she had 3 daughters? If maria, rosa and shina were able to get their mom's power at the same time, does that mean both erwin and armin could eat berthold and become shifters together? How did fritz know about the way of passing titan powers to new holders? Was Ymir dead when he fed her to their daughters? If she wasn't, then her power should have been given to a newborn eldian. If she was, then she allowed the king chip her into pieces and saw her daughters eat her? If she can rewrite her people's dna, that means she can lenthen their lifetime or make them invulnerable or immortal? Can she provide them with armor appearing out of their bodies or weapon out of the air? Or just stop them from turning into titans? About the paths... I refuse to talk about how they work. I would take one more paragraph Additionally, whose side is Ymir throughout the story on? On fritz's, who planned to build Eldian empire? Or on Zeke's and Karl's who wished to end this empire's existence and wanted her descendants to die? Or on Eren's who tried to save some of them? Is she with mikasa who stopped eren from doing it? Or is she with the alliance who did everything in their power to to save the rest of humanity on the continent? Or is she on the royal family's side? WHOM does she obey? Or is it just going with the flow of events? If that's the case, then how can she wait for mikasa? But if it's still for witnessing mikasa murdering eren, then why does she listen to zeke when eren enters the paths? By this logic, she should join the mc immediately to see him get killed as soon as possible. What were those scenes with her watching everyone during the rumbling all about? Why does she join eren at first and starts the rumbling with the boy but then helps the alliance to defeat him? Why would she do that to someone who made her moved to tears for the first time after 2000 years of suffering? Who healed her by his words of kindness, who told her she's just a person, not a slave or a god, that she get to decide and choose? Why are we told in the final mikasa saved her if eren already did that? Did she need help two times? If the mc wasn't the one to free her, how could she disobey zeke? Is eren her liberator or pawn? If a liberator, why didn't she tell him what she wanted or write shit on sand, anything? If a pawn, why make a show "at your service, mr zeke" and weep after Eren's speech? Also, what exactly made titans disappear? Eren's death, his refusal to live, mikasa's choice, the fact hallucigenia separated from the mc, the fact fritz saw the kiss? What? Ymir's desire to stop? So you mean to tell me she wanted them to exist? She could refuse making them anytime? Why did she smile at the end of ch 138? Because eren got killed or because the goddess saw the kiss? To think that for more than 100000+- years (if we take into account time in the paths moves slower) she created MILLIONS of titans when shifters transformed and when eldians turned into them (dozens times a day), healed her descendants (once again, dozens times a day), changed or erased their memories, rewrote their dna, made shit from crystals, walked millions of kilometers to build titans, carried many-many pails with water and sand, climbed high to make enormous arms, heads, necks etc... for TWO THOUSAND YEARS she made her children and their children suffer, made the world endure, helped the mc start GENOCIDE, watched millions of people die and kill each other, witnessed her people eat one another and so on just because she COULDN'T MOVE ON FROM HER ABUSER! What else should I say... Either she is the stupidest human being or the most despicable and evil person ever. Either her plotline is retconned, or the author just didn't think it out properly (which is so unlikely). Maybe, just maybe, she was the true villain of the story all along, not a victim as we thought. We were just ignorant to see it or didn't want to notice. TMM, Ymir's character gained the worst conclusion in aot, even worse than eren because we didn't even get to know about her motivation, it remained a mystery because "only she knows...". Her arc was so unresolved and so underdeveloped. What was Isayama even thinking?
Reminds me of when Kishimoto ruined Naruto Shippuden story with how he did not know how to kill Madara Uchiha off and pulling the Black Zetsu and Kaguya nonsense because Kishimoto put himself into a corner. However Attack on Titan is still a good anime but it just has questionable writings like a lot of other animes. Hopefully future anime writers learn from this.

eren killing his mother is totally shit.

But of course a delusional manga reader would just chalk it up as plot hole lol.

If your explanation was true, the rumbling would have continued for a while longer, up until the point when Eren transformed into the colossal at the very least. Ppl legit don’t realize the contradictions and bad writing lmao

I KNOW RIGHT LIKE do any of yall FANS remember what happened from season 1 to season 3 what of all of there lives were they meaningless, they were not, all of it just to end with this goofy ahh ending like huh, Im a idiot, like 🤡
Yeah season 1to 3 meant nothing.
AoT was never same show after season 3 even before the ending happened so idk what you are whining about, if you ever pay attention to it's story and it's history and see the bigger picture so yes it's definitely feels like part of the show

It absolutely baffles me that people prefer this new Eren. A psychotic, immature man child, a plot device, a cuck clown, an absolute puppet and slave of Ymir, a hypocrite and a liar. And they call it peak fiction, Isayama cooked a masterpiece.
Instead of "gigachad", matured Eren who understood and spared Reiner. Who got through so much death, stress and suffering that he developed an iron will and resolve to keep moving forward until all his enemies are destroyed. Because everyone is special.
At least Floch tought the rumbling was the only way to save his people even though it was morally and objectivly just a bad choice. Eren just wanted to save his friends like a asshole.
The hell is Culuc doing here
@lasergd6806 LOL my b
That would make sense...if Isayama gave context onto how or why Ymir came to love King Fritz when our perspective showed that she was just a slave to his will (until the very last moments) and Eren (until the very last moments) seems to be more of a slave to Ymir's will than his own freedom.

Now what I do is probably finish up aot before the falls because that manga seems to lead itself towards a more better route overall, Hopefully that one has a satisfying ending to itself.
Paradis getting destroyed made things pointless, because if Paradis was going to get destroyed anyway, then just don't do the rumbling. Killing 80% for JUST your friends is pretty autistic to say the least. I'd understand if he did it to keep Paradis from being wiped out, but JUST for your friends throws the entire thing out the window, because it's no longer believable.
I'll break it down for the slow people, because a lot of people don't understand how it works:
(A lot of copers think civil war will destroy Paradis, but US had a civil war and is still standing, lmao)
Now let's continue:
It's number 3 😁
Because number 3 not only ensures Paradis future, but ALSO ensures his friends future. (80% will always result in Paradis destruction, and it doesn't even guarantee his friends safety, it was just a hunch that it would) (Also, number 1 is actually the second best choice, and practically aligns with Zeke's, as you might be killed, but at least the rest of the world gets to live)
If his goal was ONLY to protect his friends, then it doesn't hurt to ALSO protect Paradis.
He guaranteed paradis’ safety for that long while
Wake up babe Odin uploaded
I think suppressed my thoughts on the ending until i saw the epsiode and no everything is coming back to me.
firstly we can tell the whats the quality of writing on this ending part based on whats been talked about when it comes to end, and only thing everyone is talking about is romance between Eren and Mikasa or whether or not mikasa is still a virgin when she dies(I'm not even kidding).
secondly, the shot where theres a bunch of ammo casing near erens grave where simultaneously satisfying af because eren really deserves to get front seats of paradis getting attacked and a kick to balls because cant even say floch was right (he was) because they shifted the destruction timeline far forward in future :/
thirdly, the series has taught me to never get invested into a series which has not ended yet. also im never picking up anything written by Hajime(NTR fan)isayama again.
Ntr fan lmao you ain’t wrong tho that eren bird cuck thing was wrong
ErenxMikasa worshippers never stopped being crazy
yea erenhisu would be soo good
Read the manga and thought it was a masterpiece
Only thing I'm pissed off about is historia's wasted character.
Eren and Historia had 0,000000% chemistry. I never understood those chads who wanna ship Eren with the queen. That means you want to be a stone cold mofogger who bangs the queen. That says more about you than about the story. It never was about Eren becoming a giga chad killer and that's it.
Armin and the titans posing is too funny ☠️
Ending defenders love to say " u didn't understand Eren " ☠️
Cope that your profile pic was a simp and a cuck the whole time and he didn't even agree with you but still did it because destiny or somthing.
....and on the other side of the table...people who didn't like the ending says the same thing....
miss you man we are finally back
Anime-only watcher here, I disliked the ending.
eren isnt exactly sane so i think its actually fitting that not even we understand the mental gymnastics hes goin through
Anime Onlies, rewatch AOT and watch the final episode again. Tell yourself, was Isayama cooking from beginning to end?
What is the message of the anime? Genocide actually works great if you're doing it to protect your friends and family? In the anime is showed Paradis being annihilated like 700 - 1000 years or more into the future which means genocide does work and more people should be like Eren. Genocide is amazing (sarcasm)
They should have just stuck with the 100 year later buildings instead of timeskip to 700 - 1000
Nothing but facts. Also hilarious video. Subscribed.
Floch was right.
can I know the background music you used? its really calming and Id like to listen to it when I'm anxious. and also, great video! i still can't get over the ending it hurts.
I think the Anime ending improved upon the Manga ending, that's just my personal opinion.
Starting with the crying and whining of that Eren because of the probability of Mikasa with another man, and the most hilarious part of all this MAPPA dared to animated in the post-credits the ten years that Eren want to Mikasa stsy alone and apparently married to someone else;
Also now he does start all the rumbling because he was an idiot,... with power.
AoT Trash Ending!!!
Thank you for this
I think there are problems with the ending, but you are assuming Eren is in his right mind and is thinking logically, i think that this is not the case, as he said past present and future are all messed up in his head and he shut down his emotions to avoid collapsing into a bumbling mess before the Rumbling.
This depressing message would have been more better than the message that genocide makes peace last for 700 - 1000 years
Honestly Eren x Armin made so much more sense lmaooo
As an anime only my only complaint is the whole power of love bs with ymir and Mikasa and Eren loving Mikasa the way he did
I think if tht was gone I'd love everything about the ending, I liked tht erens conquests was nothing but a failure in the long term and eren being the only one not free
This ending shows who plays attention to Aot
And this ending shows the stupidity of some human beings.
I hate the ending in both manga and anime
I binge-watched this anime on Crunchyroll and I was not satisfied at the ending. Primarily, I was confused on how and why it ended that way.
The reverse psychology is actually a 200iq move I didn't even catch that
As someone who was obsessed with GOT for a decade, trust me the difference between this and GOT is that I'll never personally recommend someone to watch GOT or rewatch it myself.

Worst that Dexter ending
even as a manga reader for a split second i thought eren and armin was gunna kiss... it got weird for a sec lmao
Brilliant video!
the convo between eren and armin was garbage and cringe.
I watched the first three seasons a year before the fourth season came out. I fell in love with the series, despite the flaws it already had. But. Even as an anime only watcher, I was sad how the ending was handled. The post credits scene doesn’t really bother me. It’s just how contrived everything felt leading up to it. The ending had some great moments and visuals but a lot of the plot felt jumbled… Idk if Isayama was rushed or in a time crunch, who knows…
But, I have come to accept how it ended, or at least, I got over it lol.
Like seriously the way it all turned out Zekes plan would have gotten the same end but without idk 80 fucking % of the planet dying. . .
Why does it have to be Mikasa specifically? Is it just because Ymir couldn't find someone breaking free from their lover in TWO THOUSAND YEARS?
Clearly they needed to cause if not they would’ve ended up like you brain dead manga readers
I finished AoT about a month ago. The show was good until the final season imo. It was fun, but the whole direction that the story goes in sucked imo.
Imagine an ending so bad that you need to be its defender.
I like the uncanny, distorted violin that plays when you talk about 139. It's akin to the David Firth short, Spoilsbury Toast Boy.
You are the Ben Shapiro of anime analysis, you talk faster than ever could😂😂
💀 lmao
Bit of an overreaction lmao. Im not the biggest fan of the ending but it was pretty good in the anime come on
6:34 cause he said he will keep moving forward, no matter what. Why would he run
Are you serious right now?!BERTHOLDT IS THE REASON WHY ARMIN ALMOST DIED!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@UnknxwnXL0 But he didn't, and without the healing, Armin would have died when he was shot to bits 4 years later. Plus Paradis needed the colossal titan.
@@deskbop And paradis would’ve had the colossal Titan with Dina what are you talking about?
The goat is back 🦂
Isayama gave mappa the script, its still horrible but at least armin acknowledged the rumbling is bad and didnt thank him, aot still cooked anyways.
They cooked with sewer water

@@electric8173 won’t lie, the animators cooked, isayama did no such thing.
I enjoyed it even after watching this video, not any more or less. I’m not gonna defend it or anything but I thought it worked in the story. Just my opinion I’m ready for the hate
although the ending has some flaws it is overall a satisfying conclusion these people are just overreacting lol
Ever since Hange decided to sacrifice herself for seemingly no reason, I knew the rest would be bad.
How else was Jean, huh I mean Armin, supposed to become the new scout's leader.
Crazy that people still defend and love aot ending when it is objectively garbage from a writing standpoint
THE GOAT 🐐
He managed to write THIS... so she, ymir fritz, got to be destroyed by 3 gd lines ("only Ymir knows...", "ymir loved the king fritz" and "she was waiting for mikasa")
Just... why? WTH?
I would take one more paragraph
Additionally, whose side is Ymir throughout the story on?

I’m convinced Kishimoto was reading the Naruto Forum websites years ago from its fans for the best option. However Attack on Titan is still a good anime but it just has questionable writings like a lot of other animes. Hopefully future anime writers learn from this.
