I saw this car in what I believe was it's last race, the 2000 ALMS at Silverstone. We were spoiled for choice with engine sounds in that race. Panoz thunderous front engined V8, the mellow burbling of the Cadillacs, the screaming exF1 Judd V10 in the Lola and the breathy flat 6 GT2 Porsches to name a few.
The engines have different engine codes. The BMW LMR has a P75 code name unit as can be seen in the BMW Museum. The Mclaren F1 has the s70/3 code and the sound of both is different.
I'd like to think that one day the ACO will return to a set of rules which give us cars like this. Pure, unadulterated racing cars with big charisma and big sounds. In a decade's time when we're all (apparently) driving round in dreary, soulless EVs, manufacturers will want to draw on their racing heritage for identity and maybe they'll want to go racing with proper machinery to advertise their brand. Well, I can dream can't I? It's either that or 24 hours of whining electric motors and a ten second stop for a battery change. Fuck that.
When it comes to automobile Le Mans has always been the Avant-Garde for technology and engineering, if you love the past so much you have Le Mans Classic which is now a massive race, but when you want to look forward the main Le Mans is immutable and really doesn't give a damn about all the "we need to go back to this or that"
It doesn't have anywhere near the downforce or lap times posted by today's prototypes lemans cars...topspeeds are similar but cornering speeds are different
I come 1st 80 to 90 % of the time in forza and bro it's amazing car and green hell I very to many people with it the only car that beats me is a Ferrari f1 and that other f1 but that's it
one of the most carismathic cars ever
I see what you did there lol
One of the greatest v12s/engines ever built.🔥🔥
`This is my second favour LM car after the 1998 Porsche GT1. Beautiful design and amazing sound
and the Mercedes CLK-GTR LM
I would prefere the Design of the GT1 but the sound from the BMW12V is on another Level

That variety seems to be gone now sadly.
That LMP was one of the most beautiful and fastest of its short time
Apperance gt4
I have a diecast model of this car on my shelf. Such a beautiful racecar.

Amazing Sound! Awesome Video!
I need this back in gran turismo 7 !!
Is this the same basic engine (obviously set up differently for racing) as the one fitted to the Mclaren F1?
The exact same as the race spec McLaren F1
BMW S70 5990 cc V12 💪 💪 💪
Kaisuke971 cheers :) I thought it might be.

Yes
Bmw is one of the best engine maker. There is a reason why it's an bmw engine in the McLaren F1.
Beautiful
Last V12 to win Le man wow
BMW S70 5990 cc V12 💪 💪 💪
Williams helped with this car (and engine I think) in 1998 when Renault left the sport and they signed with BMW.
Good video Nico! I'm staggered of this thundeureous sound and I think it would have been much louder seeing it live!
Dayum Nice sounds
Nice car I got a 1:64 scale model of that
Meravigliosa spettacolare stupefacente a dir poco. Come tutte le B.M.W.
My childhood car
The kidneys say it all 😏👌🏽 Ultimate driving machine
My favourite car in grand Turismo 4 😅
当時の最強プロトタイプトヨタ GT-one(TS020)に勝った素晴らしいマシンV12 LMR。ライバル達のトラブル、V12のメリットである燃費の良さ、前年のLMと比べてものすごく進化したマシンだった。
Is the 6.0 liter V12 engine in this car naturally-aspirated or not? Because Shu Todoroki has a 6.0 liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine.

Gran turismo 4 ever
SOUNDS LIKE A OLD F1 CAR
Powered by:
BMW Motorsport ®️ 🇩🇪
lol Z3 taillights xD
M POWER
To all Toyota fanboys you lost 🤣
i am wondering how this would do le man 24 now...
If going by laps completed, the BMW did 365 laps, and this year, the winner did 367, which would put this car in 3rd overall, amongst LMP2 cars.
It doesn't have anywhere near the downforce or lap times posted by today's prototypes lemans cars...topspeeds are similar but cornering speeds are different
The most stinging v12 sound ever, feel like it's slicing your flesh time by time you hear it
Yeah I would have to go with the Ferrari V12s. Definitely the most distinct unique V12 sound you'll ever hear
Sound Porn

just saying. I hated this car on gran turismo
I come 1st 80 to 90 % of the time in forza and bro it's amazing car and green hell I very to many people with it the only car that beats me is a Ferrari f1 and that other f1 but that's it
