    Perfect for a tattoo studio.
    • The size is just right. large enough for art, Small enough for a workstation.
    • Portrait mode is better for tattoo designs.
    • Not being touch screen is great for keeping a sanitized environment.
    I see alot of tattoo artists using iPads. They use it both in workspace and home environment.
    I think it's unhygienic, I think i'll get an intuos and a great monitor.

    Fantastic review Lawrence! You know, this is exactly what I was looking for, because my wife needs to change her computer and she wants to go for a PC this time. That means she will need a good monitor too (at the moment she's stuck with a mid 2011 iMac).
    In fact I am also looking for a small form factor PC, yet powerful, for her.
    To be honest this HP could be good for myself too. :-D

    Thanks for the review LAwrence. I missed this one.. so i replied at the quick version haha. I am thinking about to ditch my cintiq for a while now. Just like you say in this review you are looking down all the time. And when i use it in a angle i need to bring up my arms. Besides that it takes up a lot of space since i use the cintiq as a 2nd monitor. The issue is that i have a 34" curved screen and it feels a bit off when i use the Intius4 M drawing tablet on it. I feel a bit spoiled right now, typing this with all this awesome hardware. *Facepalm. Do you feel the same way? Are you working a bit more on a tablet right now?

    Great review buddy! Looks like a competitive priced 4K for color accurate work out of the box. I'll keep this in time when my Dell 4K bites the dust! Side question have you ever thought about doing digital art classes on Udemy or the like for beginners?

    • @SuperDesignguy
      @SuperDesignguy 4 года назад

      @@LAWRENCEcanDRAW I have used Udemy but find the courses quite limited. I've been a designer for 20 years and really want to return to strengthen my drawing skills after being away from that side of things for so long. I feel I have two options on Udemy. Taking traditional drawing classes using traditional media, or, drawing classes that do teach drawing with more of a character design approach with little to no specific application requirements ( to gain larger market appeal I suppose ). Seems very difficult to find beginning digital drawing classes / courses that teach both at the same time. Like say painter / drawing or photoshop and drawing. It's almost like teaching photography today and forcing students to learn traditional film development in the dark room> I don't have much interest in learning traditional media. We live in a digital age and I don't want to hassle with charcoal and water colors and make a mess of my house in the process. LOL

      Thanks @@SuperDesignguy , good to know. I've barely looked on there but I know some RUclipsrs who make more than half their income from the site. I thought I might give it a go. I used to do Digital Tutors when that was a thing. I also considered taking on students directly - online of course.

    • @SuperDesignguy
      @SuperDesignguy 4 года назад

      @@LAWRENCEcanDRAW if you ever get a time to poke around on there look at how many people have taken some course. Some course have had 10's of thousands of students. Udemy handles the back end and the teacher profit shares but I imagine it could really make some serious revenue. I've also seen specific teachers advertising their specific Udemy courses on Facebook and RUclips. One thing for sure if you decide to offer any course I'm taking it.

    Thanks, Lawrence for your review! I have a separate question for you on your work. When you print your work, is there a vendor or particular large format printer that you use for your prints?

    • @LAWRENCEcanDRAW
      @LAWRENCEcanDRAW  4 года назад

      I sometimes use a local printer that I know so I can personally check the quality before I send out the prints myself. I've tried various online services but even if they start of well they can go down hill and you can never full trust them. It really depends on if you are doing it as a pro' artist who wants high end prints for a small number of clients who are willing to pay the right amount of money OR just art fans who want cost effective prints.

    @Lawrence Mann : Is it easy to connect this to an iMac 2017? Any clue how to do that?

  • @philosophicdanger6375
    @philosophicdanger6375 3 года назад +1

    Bit late with my question, but I've just stumbled on this video...
    As a photo and video editor, I'm concerned with how low this monitor scores in Adobe sRGB coverage- around 74% when above 90% is ideal. Are you satisfied with the colour accuracy, as an artist? It seems to have a true 10-bit colour functionality, so that's something. Other reviews do concede that the colour accuracy is where this monitor misses, and I'd love to get this monitor already because it ticks every other box. I'd appreciate any thoughts you have!

    • @LAWRENCEcanDRAW
      @LAWRENCEcanDRAW  3 года назад +2

      I do photo & video editing too. This monitor has been great as part of my setup and I'm very happy with the colour calibration. I have three monitors which are all pretty high spec and between them I am always confident that my images are correct. I would never trust a single monitor of course but also with 20+ industry years I trust my gut feeling too.

    • @philosophicdanger6375
      @philosophicdanger6375 3 года назад +1

      @@LAWRENCEcanDRAW I am really glad to hear that you like it! I wish I could ease my anxieties that I've acquired from reading all of the reviews. Naturally, it's the best monitor for Z desktop or workstation. You really feel that colour calibration and contrasts are no issue with this monitor? My alternative was the cheaper Acer B287K, which boasts a high DCI-P3 profile.
      Thank you for taking the time out to respond to me!

    • @LAWRENCEcanDRAW
      @LAWRENCEcanDRAW  3 года назад +2

      The best advice I can offer is to trust your instincts. In the end that is all we have. I do not review anything I am not happy with and never give my opinion on tech I've never tested so I can't say anything about the Acer monitor unfortunately - trust your gut!

    • @philosophicdanger6375
      @philosophicdanger6375 3 года назад

      @@LAWRENCEcanDRAW Thank you for your very sound advice! I'll definitely be keeping it in mind.
      Are you planning on doing any future monitor reviews? You mentioned DreamColor, and I'm surprised you wouldn't go for something in that range. There is the Z27xs, any of the B7 Acer monitors and the Dell U2720Q.
      Also, how would you rate the response time? I think the Z27 is at 8/14 ms from grey-to-grey?

    • @LAWRENCEcanDRAW
      @LAWRENCEcanDRAW  3 года назад +1

      I'd like to do more monitor reviews. They don't come up too often and it's not something I chase. Maybe soon. Mostly it's because they are so well covered already and they are all very similar. @John Michaels The HP Z27 is a bit harder to get now since it's discontinued, you should check out the HP U28 which replaces the Z27. It's one inch bigger and it's supposed to be as good as the previous model. The ThinkVision p27-20 might be nice, but it's 1440p and if you want to do video editing or photo editing, you are better off with a 4K panel.

    Great review! Z27 monitors have Z27n G2 model with slightly lower resolution. Does it have the same colour calibration and working colours as 4K model and the same exterior?

    • @LAWRENCEcanDRAW
      @LAWRENCEcanDRAW  4 года назад +2

      I haven''t tested the G2 so I wouldn't want to say what is the same and what is different. Best thing to do is simply to compare the specs sheets. However, it is a totally different display panel being used in the G2 so I couldn't guess at it. The G2 is a QHD monitor and I'm sure it's great but fundamentally the display is different to make it a lower price. I think it's a budget/requirements issue. What type of work are you primarily doing?

      I will mostly use it with a MacBook for coding (my work) and amateurish photo editing, sometimes I play with single player first person shooters in fullhd (not 4k) like Far Cry or Metro, so I don’t need pro gaming performance as long as the image quality and scaling is good.

      Should be perfect for you then. I have only hooked this up to my MacBook once or twice. Most of the time it is part of my main PC setup. I'm sure it will be perfect. It has a few different screen modes that are very easy to access the monitors front buttons and allow you to make it more comfortable for reading/coding and then switch to a pre-set gaming mode. You can also customise the various modes.

    • @LAWRENCEcanDRAW
      @LAWRENCEcanDRAW  4 года назад

      Exactly what I said - true 4k is too sharp on a 27" monitor. Especially when you are sat at a desk looking at it from that short distance. It's a lot closer than a TV remember.

    • @pogodrummer
      @pogodrummer 4 года назад +1

      @@LAWRENCEcanDRAW The only difference between DCI and UHD are the ~200 pixels more DCI has in width, which makes the aspect ratio 17:9 instead of 16:9.
      The "sharpness" is equal between the two, one is just a fraction wider. Unlike, say, 1440p and 4k. Large difference there.
      If you, like you say, have a DCI4K TV at home and it makes stuff look bad, it's probably because you're stretching the image in width, losing the pixel-perfect UHD image most media nowadays has.
