Bought one of these a few months ago and it's freaking amazing. Seriously, if you're any kind of visual media professional, this is one of the best sub $1200 monitors on the market.
Haha I'm watching this review on a PD3200U. I got it back in January. It has great image quality although blacks could be deeper. I like the USB and Card reader placed right at your hand. What I don't like: There is no option to switch USB and Video Input with one button press! So the KVM is misleading as it is just a USB splitter as every monitor which has multiple inputs can switch between them anyway, they should have integrated it better with just two menu options: "KVM 1 Video source" and "KVM 2 Video source" and then switch in one action. This is really a bummer because when you want to switch to a PC that is sleeping, you'll try to switch to that source first, but when you don't have any signal on a source, you can't switch the USB upstream and so you have to switch back to the other PC to even switch USB, hit something on the keyboard to wake up and then switch source again. Of course it always takes several seconds to do. So if you need to use 2 PCs, buy a real KVM or use two keyboards and mice, my advice.
gentuxable Thanks dude, genuinely useful comment. Was looking at this monitor specifically for use with KVM and trying to find how well and quickly you could flick between devices/platforms.
Steven Kelly You're welcome. Using vnc/rdp or a second set of display and a logitech k400 or similar mouse/kb combo is less frustrating than this monitors KVM to be honest. I really hope BenQ reads this and make the feature better in future models. Another issue with the PD3200U it is simply impossible to access the BIOS on cold boot of PC2 while the first PC is running because as soon as USB goes down it will switch over to PC1 and the time it takes the monitor to re-recognize PC2 is alive you're past the point you can enter setup.
I purchased this monitor a few months back along with a Blackmagic Decklink 4K card so that I can use it as a separate monitor to grade video full screen in Davinchi Resolve. At the time of purchase, there wasn't a whole lot of reviews for the monitor so felt like I was taking a chance. Long story short, I have been more than pleased. For the price and what you are getting, you would be hard pressed to find a better deal. Thank you for taking the time to do this review. As always, great job on the video!
I have used this for over a year. Programming, CAD, as well as "office stuff". Switches between my PC and Mac easily. Huge display, able to organize my workspace and have everything "in it's place" in the background. Love the puck button to switch between CAD and "normal" settings with the touch of a button. Use PIP occasionally. Just awesome.
If your budget is sub-$1000 and you really want 4K, I think this is one of the best out there. In terms of what I desire in a monitor as a photographer, I think the SW2700 is a much better choice. It sits at about $600 for a 27-inch 1440p display, but covers both sRGB and AdobeRGB completely, which for my color grading is a wet dream. Otherwise, jump above $1K for the BenQ SW320: 32-inch 4K, 60hz, 100% AdobeRGB. For photo and design oriented creative professionals, that is the dream monitor. For video creative professionals, it's not perfect, but still checks a lot boxes.
Yep I'm getting it at b&h next week. I sat down with the gentleman there to talk about the sw2700. My current Dell covers both color spaces at 100% but I'm in need of a second one. If you print and you work with a great lab, srgb is the last thing on your mind when it comes to edit. Especially if you sell high quality prints. Once my print sales become more consistent, I'll go for a Ezio without hesitation.
I am working on dumping Adobe and moving to DaVinci Resolve. Adobe has gone extremely down hill since they went to the subscription model. They don't have to do any work on their products or fix bugs because you are stuck paying monthly regardless of which version you use. Resolve is very very impressive at a first look and it costs about $300. For that you get color correction, editing, effects and audio editing all in one package and has been used extensively in Hollywood.
Avid and premiere are both still used in Hollywood. Resolve is actually underused in Hollywood but it definitely is the superior program. I don’t think extensively is a good descriptor lol. It needs to be used more.
Hey man how do you feel about the monitor now and have you upgraded since?. I'm looking at getting a proper monitor for photo editing as my current one is like 7 years old and not suitable for photo editing even after calibrating. I'm just a hobbyist photographer but yeah would be nice to have my edits be at least accurate haha.
These bezels are just fine. Just because other brands don’t have as large of bezels doesn’t mean this monitor is inferior. Tbh I like having the bezels as something to grab onto when moving the monitor up or down at my work station. I’d rather have them this thickness than smaller. This monitor has been great to me so far
Best monitor I ever had. My criteria was, true 32", IPS panel, 16:9 / 3840x2160, and good brightness. Loved it so much that I bought another. For CAD work.
I just wanted to say that I enjoyed this thorough and well produced review. So much that I actually just ordered one online! Going from a 1440p VA display to a 4k IPS is going to be a massive improvement for me as a graphic designer. Can't wait to try it out!
@@tehparol It's amazing when it comes to color accuracy and picture quality/resolution, which is what I bought it for. And the HDR range is insane when playing PS4 games like Red Dead Redemption 2 on it. But there are a couple of draw backs. It has some light bleeding in the corners, which is not a big deal for me but it makes the colors less accurate towards the edges of the display. It also has a quite noticable anti glare coating which decreases the viewing angle and greys out the blacks quite a bit. And lastly; the auto HDR detection function has a hard time working when watching netflix for some reason. Like it can't seem to decide if the content is HDR or not, so it turns on and off, and there's no way of turning the auto detect function off. All in all a really accurate and crisp monitor great for photo editing, design and casual gaming, with some minor flaws which I can't really complain too much about considering the price of the monitor.
@@n0ztic Globally it's a great screen when it works. Mine suddenly had a vertical coloured line one pixel wide, so I sent it for repairs. Almost a month later I was happy to get it back and install it on my desk only to find out that the screen doesn't even display anything at all. The repairs were also quite wonky, for example the part where the buttons are isn't properly back into place. They also put the fixed screen the wrong way around in the packaging, there was plastic sheet stuck in the joints where they put it back together, whoever cut open the tape on the packaging also cut through half of the fucking styrofoam and so on. Horrible fixing job, they really need a better partner for this. Kind of annoying knowing I could probably fix it myself if it wasn't for the warranty. Great product, shit service.
Bought this monitor a few months ago, and love it! I love the 100% sRGB color accurate display, lets me know all my edits are the correct color. Amazing monitor!
I game on 4K 60Hz and it is great. There are problems at times but a 1080Ti handles almost anything that I throw at this resolution. I do plan on buying a 144Hz G-sync panel soon. If you haven't seen high refresh rate yet, I think that monitor would be fine.
I've been doing some reasarch regarding best monitors for video editing and this seems to be the best bang for the buck. So my question is - is it still worth in 2022? Thank you.
King Christo 3 years ago when i first got back into pc gaming with a dell inspiron with on board graphics (lol) i used my tv as a monitor and sat in my recliner right in front of the tv with a shelf from my entertainment center in my lap so i could use my keyboard and mouse
I bought the BL3200PT a few years ago and still using it. Nice to see BenQ has upgraded the display and a really good upgrade down the road. As far as the bezel it really does not bother me at all, except for collecting dust at the bottom.. :-D
I used to have the standard 24" with 1080p, then I got a 32" TV that I started using as my main monitor, also in 1080p. Then I bought an AOC 25" with QHD (to get proper colors for photography and video, I do calibrate it), and there was some time needed to get used to the size everything became, and now it's perfect I think. So if I want a UHD monitor, I don't think I want to go smaller than 43", which I think should make thing become the same size as on my now 25" QHD monitor, only the real estate is a lot bigger. It would be interesting to test a 32" UHD monitor, but I suspect it will be too small for the resolution, and I really don't want to mess with scaling. I could just pull it really close XD.
Thanks for doing a review on a professional monitor. I wish I could find more of these. What other monitors are top for creative professionals? I need to upgrade.
any issues with apple iPad or connecting it to macbook and pc same time? You can switch between computers? How many? Is dual view enough for showing two adobe apps? Great video!
Newer versions of Photoshop scale to high DPI fine. I use it on a 4k screen myself. You aren't supposed to change DPI scaling in Photoshop itself. You're supposed to set the DPI in Windows, which tells DPI-aware apps (including Photoshop) the size you want. The setting in Photoshop is in addition to that. Unless the app is not DPI-aware (in which case the OS scales the whole window like a bitmap), things will still be rendered at the native resolution, just using larger fonts, icons, etc. The 1080p video preview example will still be a 1080p video preview even with Windows set to scale things up, unless the video editor you're using isn't DPI aware yet.
I'm using a SW2700PT at work and a PD2500Q at home and I love both (actually I purchased the latter because of the experience with the former) so what can I say...? :) Even gaming on the PD2500Q is awesome!
He did mention that the monitor benefits for content designer, NOT for gamer. So what is wrong with these people who keep bothering about ratio and refresh rate?
Hi Hardware Canucks After reading and watching a lot of reviews I am totally confused between buying PD3200U ($600), PD2700U ($430), Dell U3219Q ($850), Dell U2720Q ($600) or Dell P2721Q ($440). All models have same 3 year warranty here in India. I spend about 10 hours a day in front of the screen and need my monitor for productivity apps like Power BI, Excel, G-suite and text, browsing, reading. I prefer 4k over 2k for better smoothness of font (after scaling). Color accuracy is of no concern to me and I use f.lux to reduce blue light even at daytime and sometimes even convert the screen to greyscale. At 47 years I have presbyopia and so will be keeping the monitor at about 3 feet+ distance. I normally prefer to work under low-lights. I will use the monitor both portrait and landscape (mainly landscape). I use both Mac and Windows and am also looking at a way to use them parallelly on a single monitor ( I don't know if KVM feature of Benq is of any help). Though I would like a USB-c but I don't mind a few extra wires if the cost difference is huge to get a USC-C port (available in dell models). My main requirement is eye-comfort and text clarity. I am inclined to use 32" for the size benefit at 3-feet distance but maybe the text smoothness might be lesser than 27 inch due to lesser PPI. (I got spoilt for text clarity using Macbook Retina display for 8 years.) I am inclined to go for PD3200U but have read lots of bad reviews about its flickering issues and maybe faulty AUO panel, bleeding issues etc. If I was to choose 27 inch, then PD2700U features look more attractive than P2721Q for same price point. But I dont know if any of the PD2700U marketed features like eye-comfort etc are better than P2721Q of dell which happens to be the latest model too. Dell is known for better warranty servicing here in India and I have used dell before but Benq would be a totally new product line. I have no place to go an check these monitors as they get ordered online and are not available on stores. Therefore checking before buying is out of question. Please provide your valuable suggestions so that I can choose one with ease. ( any other model than these ? Please suggest) Thanks!
Great video. Few questions if I may. I’m using this monitor with the Mac Mini M1 with HDMI port and I have no functionality with the extra USB / headphone ports or SD Card reader. Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong?
Very well explained. Really like your all videos. I bought 2 monitors Benq pd2700U, using nvidia 1080 and threadripper 1920x. I use 3ds max when the file gets heavy monitors flickers. Probably its because of my graphics card is not enough to use these two 4k monitors. What do you think may be the reason? If graphics is the issue, is it worth to buy 3080 0r 3090 graphics card to resolve this problem? Thanks
Have the old, 1440p VA version of this and the colors are amazing. No quite OLED level amazing, but pretty darn close. I'm not even a professional content creator, but I'm still super happy about this thing and looking at other displays kinda hurts now. As a fairly casual gamer, I don' have any issues with it. The good color reproduction makes any piece of content look much better, so if you consume a lot of media on your PC, it could actually be an interesting choice.
Got one month ago, amazing thing...on work i use Dell UP3216Q which is almost double in the price in my country and I can tell there is very very little difference.
I got the 27ich version of this and content creation was top priority... this display doesn't disappoint in that department. I also game on it when not working and I would describe it as sufficient... not great not terrible. Obviously the visual fidelity of the games are phenomenal on this monitor but the lack of FreeSync at this price point is a bit of a head scratcher. Thankfully, it isn't too big of an issue as my 1080ti averages 60fps in most games at 4k if I turn the settings down to high (high-medium in worst case scenarios). I haven't tried to see if this display can be overclocked or not. I'm used to having Asus displays which simply skip frames.
Thanks for the great video review! - Is there an LG or alternate thin bezel / bezeless display that you would recommend with 10 bit support at 27" or if not 10 bit support, at least great colours for some editing & animation and not using it for gaming. Basically I'm looking for the QHD 27" alternate to this monitor with thin bezels :) - Also do you find 32" to be too much width after using it for a while? Do you feel like you're at a tennis match all the time? Serious question :) How far do you sit from the table? - is the VA alternate BenQ QHD version you noted available in QHD and more importantly, what exactly are the differences you visually see (not talking about specs but in real world use) that's different from an IPS panel Any help or points at all is super appreciated! Thanks again!
I recently convinced my boss to buy me this monitor as i stare at CAD drawings all day long. I highly recommend this monitor as it increased my productivity and help with the eye strain, nice work BenQ
hey can so help me? I will get myself a 1440p 144hz monitor. I mostly want to play games and watch series or movies and youtube. Which size is good? 27 inch or higher? What do you recommend? It shouldnt cost a fortune!
Hi guys, I'm a pro photographer using mainly lightroom. I have the older BenQ version, the BL3201PH, driven by a 6700k and a 1080ti. It's great monitor but I absolutely do not recommend it for gaming. I play Dota 2 on it, and you have these monitor ugly bars of static glitches that is a common issue for my model. I hope the new version fixed it!
Seems like a good option for myself. I insist on good colour accuracy for work related tasks at home. Gaming wise, I'd still use something with a higher refresh rate with G-Sync.
I'm curious what the difference between this and my BenQ PV3200PT is... Not seeing any differences... Except the aluminum neck is black instead of mine being silver?
Sean Williams keyboard and mouse sharing betwen 2 computers, i would love the feature :) i have to the pt version of this monitor :) you can overcloack btw to 85 hz in 2560x1440 for gaming :)
This is an amazing monitor but there is no fix for the flicker issue - returning it to Amazon. Even if you RMA via Benq they send out the same faulty panels, firmware updates do not fix the panel issue.
I love your explanation, so details as i want to know. Because i love Benq Product, mainly Monitor Benq Technology. Time by time they enhance its features of the Benq Monitor. Always i remember the colors of Monitor Benq how true how natural. Not for this one, for the standard Monitor like 18.5" G922HDAL with senseye 3 is so amazing real colors !!
seems like an excellent monitor, and 800 USD which is somewhere around 1030 CAD for me is pretty decent for the quality that you're getting. I will however wait for a USB-C model since it's nice to recharge my laptop when plugged in.
Funny how most of the complaints are from gamers complaining it wasn't built for them. I love that it has a dedicated CAD/CAM setting. If I didn't have my heart set on a curved 1440p monitor for my next one, I'd seriously consider this one.
> Same size as our TV > Much better resolution than our TV > Much better colour than our TV > Much better IO than our TV Given broadcast TV isn't so relevant anymore and is often streamable anyway, this could easily be used as a TV.
Wrong, it does support Freesync, limited 48-60Hz range, its just not mentioned, just like for its predecessor - BL3201PT. I have it, Its using the same panel just with older gen HDMI.
I was gaming on a 42" Sony Bravia Z series in 2008/09 and it was much more emersive than these puny 4k monitors. I liked how text and textures would just pop and you can see all the details on the big screen in games movies and texts. Resolution is directly tied to how big the screen is and 4K should not even be considered unless the monitor is a minimum of at leased 40" and again bigger is better.
Hi, thanks for the review of this monitor. Can you please confirm if you had any glitches with it? Several user reviews I've read have said there's flashes of all white for a fraction of a second and other such issues from time to time.
Hi and thanks for this. I want to get better color resolution to mess around with photo editing, and for watching movies. I have an old computer with: Intel(R) Core (TM) i5 3470 CPU @ 3.20 GHz with 8 GB RAM. Do you know if this will power such a monitor? I'm afraid I'm not much of a computer man. Thanks!
Bought one of these a few months ago and it's freaking amazing. Seriously, if you're any kind of visual media professional, this is one of the best sub $1200 monitors on the market.
And it does work better in OSX/MacOS than Windows. The scaling is a lot more uniform. Kinda surprised Windows still has scaling issues

is it good for xbox/ps4 since they're 60hz? and most importantly, does it have that annoying ghosting effect?
Is it the BL2711U?
The PD2700U is HDR compatible but is an 8 bit monitor + 2 FRC, while this PD3200U is a true 10 bit panel but not HDR compatible.
have a couple of the same, like them so far!

Jarrod'sTech this will do as a reference monitor while you can have your timeline and bins on a cheapo 1080p monitor

It would be interesting to test a 32" UHD monitor, but I suspect it will be too small for the resolution, and I really don't want to mess with scaling. I could just pull it really close XD.
Thanks for the review.just came back after ordering one will get it tomorrow morning :D
Hi Hardware Canucks
After reading and watching a lot of reviews I am totally confused between buying PD3200U ($600), PD2700U ($430), Dell U3219Q ($850), Dell U2720Q ($600) or Dell P2721Q ($440).
Please suggest)
Thanks!
Ram, which monitor you finally got?
Best review I've watched on this monitor. Sold!
Thanks for the review. What budget PC would be compatible to handle the 4k in this monitor?
Great video. Few questions if I may. I’m using this monitor with the Mac Mini M1 with HDMI port and I have no functionality with the extra USB / headphone ports or SD Card reader. Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong?
Why do monitors have such random names?
Cost lots of money to brand a name
They actually aren't random they usually make up the major specs for the monitor but yeah branding is expensive so just name it after its specs.
TIL
PD = Professional Designer
32 = 32 inch display
00U = ???
grlmgor 00 is series number and u is ultra hd maybe
I definitely want one.
Grazie mille , bellissima review. Volevo fare una domanda c'è HDR ? Thx , great review, a question there is the HDR? sorry for my english
The good color reproduction makes any piece of content look much better, so if you consume a lot of media on your PC, it could actually be an interesting choice.
thanks for the excellent review eber. Is this a true 10 bit panel or 8+frc? was looking at this and ew3280u ....
VERY helpful! Thanks a million!
Excellent backlight bleed test.
Do you recommend PD2700U? Is there problems with adobe and 4K in this monitor? Thanks!
Thanks for the review, I think I will buy it now :)
Last time I was this early I had a will to live
AdoptedAsian Keep on living man :)
Thanks for the great video review!
- Is there an LG or alternate thin bezel / bezeless display that you would recommend with 10 bit support at 27" or if not 10 bit support, at least great colours for some editing & animation and not using it for gaming. Basically I'm looking for the QHD 27" alternate to this monitor with thin bezels :)
- Also do you find 32" to be too much width after using it for a while? Do you feel like you're at a tennis match all the time? Serious question :) How far do you sit from the table?
- is the VA alternate BenQ QHD version you noted available in QHD and more importantly, what exactly are the differences you visually see (not talking about specs but in real world use) that's different from an IPS panel
Any help or points at all is super appreciated! Thanks again!
I recently convinced my boss to buy me this monitor as i stare at CAD drawings all day long. I highly recommend this monitor as it increased my productivity and help with the eye strain, nice work BenQ
Hi, is this the same as the BenQ PD2700Q model? Simply 32" Instead of 27"? Thanks
Please recommend me which one will be better, BENQ EW3270U or BENQ PD3200U? I am going to have one but i am confuse
great explanation, and great script, congratulations
hey can so help me?
I use a Dell UP3216Q and would also highly recommend it.
Seems like a good option for myself. I insist on good colour accuracy for work related tasks at home. Gaming wise, I'd still use something with a higher refresh rate with G-Sync.
vskye1 but for a console gamer, say PS4, wouldn’t this still preform well?
great review bro, is PIP supported in this model?
awesome, seems like something that can fly under the radar long enough to be sold at budget price in half a year. ill keep my eye on this.
hey it's Eber from HurricuneX! Happy to see that white thing gone from your fringe on the last vid.. was distracting me the whole video
Would this be good for gaming ?
This is an amazing monitor but there is no fix for the flicker issue - returning it to Amazon. Even if you RMA via Benq they send out the same faulty panels, firmware updates do not fix the panel issue.
You have a relaxing voice
I love your explanation, so details as i want to know. Because i love Benq Product, mainly Monitor Benq Technology. Time by time they enhance its features of the Benq Monitor. Always i remember the colors of Monitor Benq how true how natural. Not for this one, for the standard Monitor like 18.5" G922HDAL with senseye 3 is so amazing real colors !!
I absolutely love my Dell 27' Ultrasharp 4k monitor. Absolutely beautiful.
Apples and oranges.
Hi my fried, do you recommend this 32 inch monitor over the 27 inch due to text size?
Looks amazing but hope they update it with a few USB-C/Thunderbolt ports. Can always keep a few of the older ports for compatibility.
seems like an excellent monitor, and 800 USD which is somewhere around 1030 CAD for me is pretty decent for the quality that you're getting. I will however wait for a USB-C model since it's nice to recharge my laptop when plugged in.
how would you compare this to the ASUS PB287Q 28" ? is the extra 4" worth it?
I want 4k for long time. I hope black Friday this year. I can get one
Funny how most of the complaints are from gamers complaining it wasn't built for them. I love that it has a dedicated CAD/CAM setting. If I didn't have my heart set on a curved 1440p monitor for my next one, I'd seriously consider this one.
hows the accuracy in aRGB color space? will this screen suffice for adobe PS work and DaVinci resolve, my prints are done mainly in aRGB?
What do you think about the upcoming BenQ PD2700U ? It's basically the same thing, but squished into 27 inches and with lot smaller bezels.
> Same size as our TV
> Much better resolution than our TV
> Much better colour than our TV
> Much better IO than our TV
Given broadcast TV isn't so relevant anymore and is often streamable anyway, this could easily be used as a TV.
Can you use this on m1 max?
Wrong, it does support Freesync, limited 48-60Hz range, its just not mentioned, just like for its predecessor - BL3201PT. I have it, Its using the same panel just with older gen HDMI.
Great review, really temped to go the extra mile pricewise. Other reviews talk alot about a black screen flicker problem - any comments?
You keep calling the mini USB a micro. Great review, and I love the channel, though! :) Not really a big deal, just pointing it out for posterity 👌
Jared Clark Smallwood it's not a standard mini either. It's proprietary. Very similar to what's on Nikon cameras as far as shape goes.
HI! The hotkey works until the computer is restarted. When rebooted, the port settings and image in Display Pilot are unchecked! anyone got the same ?
I do like Ebers way to present hardware:)
I heard there are flickering issues with this monitor model. Have you come across any such issues till date?
thanks.
Yes, BenQ admits. Send back for fix.
@@jeffzest8393 thanks for replying...
@@johnsonguite CSR told me that issue has now been resolved on its new monitors.
updated desk tour needed asap
Thanks for the review. Without vsync etc. how would it show up 50fps videos that are native PAL speed in the UK? Any tearing etc.?
£599 at scan. It's tempting as hell. It looks great
USB KVM is a good touch if together with hdmi sound.
Thanks for review. Do you recomend this monitor or LG 31MU97Z for video editing (with same price)? Thanks.
Hi, thanks for the review of this monitor. Can you please confirm if you had any glitches with it? Several user reviews I've read have said there's flashes of all white for a fraction of a second and other such issues from time to time.
Great review! On Premiere, are you able to play or monitor a full screen image at 4K in HDR?
The 27' model it's slightly better. You should definitely check PD2720U model.
better in what way ? Pls elaborate.
I can't decide between Dell U2718Q and BenQ PD2700U.. any advice? Thanks
Thanks!
Nice video. Do you use the RC 709 or SRGB profile on the monitor, or do you use the standard or user profile and then calibrate them?
Wonder if this one is still one of the best to the price, in 2020...
Need to get a good big main/reference monitor.
Own it! Love it!!!
