Really good test and review. You go out of your way to cover everything that could impact users... I'm also glad you mentioned, that it can use less power with the right settings - essentially matching an Energy Star "A" rating. I had to give up on a number of 32" and even 27" monitors, because they were consuming more power than my current 4K 50" Sony TV, (45W) that I use as a monitor. But for my off-grid location, with solar power only, I am putting together a low power Ryzen 4650G system, to avoid grinding my laptop day after day.

As I'm really satisfied with a "smaller", Full HD, VA panel "brother" of this monitor, most probably this will be my next one. I have tried a Samsung U32H850, but unfortunately that made me upset. Its colors on the main area of the screen were crisp, and I was really fond of the perfect, good quality PIVOT stand, but the corners and both vertical edges of the screen suffered a lot due backlight bleeding, inhomogeneity, and even viewing from the very center of the screen, the edges had severe saturation issues. How is the situation in practice with this one please?

Just you know, the measured things are one thing (and the uniformity looks really good indeed), and using the monitor in practice, with real content, can be another thing. That is why I asked, if you experienced anything "disturbing", saturation lowering issue, backlight bleed at the edges, etc. in the visible screen area, while sitting in front of the monitor. If not, that is absolutely great then. :) (And if I may add my hint here, for the future reviews it would be great to show the monitors playing some real, and demo content, with the camera placed in the very middle, opposite the screen.)

Brought the FHD version for console gaming , Benq EW277HDR & its pretty much the same except size & resolutions etc 😀 btw great video liked & subbed 😃👍🏻
Would be a great HDMI monitor for my Vampire V4+ Standalone from Apollo Team. It’s a very great step forward on my old BENQ BL702A VGA 17 inch 60Hz 5:4 monitor with my old Commodore AMIGA 1200. Which use the Indivision AGA MK3 and a fast TF1260 and a rare 68060 Rev 6 CPU on it. Like the BENQ monitors and 60Hz if it’s with VGA or HDMI have razor sharp picture. Great review for a great HDMI monitor from almost 4 years ago. It’s still now a expensive monitor.

Thank you! I didn’t notice that in my testing, but HDR mode is so dependant on what’s feeding it: Windows 10, an HDR game (and they vary), an Xbox etc.
Viewing angles, backlight bleed, does it make high pitched noises at lower brightness? Other than those misses I agree with all the praise for the video ^^

Excellent review & point about the USB-C type port not supporting power to laptops.!, Didn't know that, Just presumed they all did by default. Which makes it a bit of a false sell functionality wise. How do you know if a USB-C port on a monitor supports power to laptops?. (Do they state it in the spec or is there a symbol to highlight it etc?). As said X review.
Got it for console gaming, very impressed with it so far, the picture quality is amazing, hdr is fine, brightness is very good don’t know why RTINGS says it can’t get bright enough, it went to the point where my eyes were hurting. I don’t like the BI eye care feature it really messes with the color and quality. 8/10 for me.
The obsession with brightness comes from smartphones which are used outside. And for true HDR too - need a lot more to meet even basic standards. It's not as important for monitors generally if you're not so concerned with HDR - most manufacturers recommend doing any critical professional colour work at usually much less than 200 nits which nearly every monitor can reach.

Guess it really depends how bad it is. You could always check with BenQ their policy - monitor manufacturers usually have quite strict requirements for what counts as a warranty issue.

I'm 3d artist and working with 3d softwares and somtimes using adobe softwares. is this monitor good for me? or i have to buy IPS panel monitor?
Thanks I'm glad you liked the review! An IPS monitor might be better but it's most likely more expensive like for like. I found the VA panel more than adequate for video and photo editing and general use. But it will just depend what you want to spend.
Is this monitor able to output 10 bit hdr from a hdmi 2.0 input such as from as PS4 pro? I've heard that 10 bit HDR output is only supported from the display port on this monitor. Also great review by the way, very in depth.

You can lower the brightness yes - I can't remember how long it'll go though - I don't have this monitor any more to check.

I didn't notice the high pitch noise - but not sure how low brightness you're running it ...

Thank you so much FalconEagle! Yes so long as you have a 10 or 20 series nVidia card. HDR should work over HDMI and DisplayPort.

For gaming I really don't see it as necessary. The colour accuracy out of the box is pretty good anyway.

You might try turning off font scaling - although text will looks small (albeit possibly sharper).

Excellent review & point about the USB-C type port not supporting power to laptops.!, Didn't know that, Just presumed they all did by default. Which makes it a bit of a false sell functionality wise. How do you know if a USB-C port on a monitor supports power to laptops?. (Do they state it in the spec or is there a symbol to highlight it etc?). As said X review.

Got it for console gaming, very impressed with it so far, the picture quality is amazing, hdr is fine, brightness is very good don’t know why RTINGS says it can’t get bright enough, it went to the point where my eyes were hurting. I don’t like the BI eye care feature it really messes with the color and quality. 8/10 for me.
The obsession with brightness comes from smartphones which are used outside. And for true HDR too - need a lot more to meet even basic standards. It's not as important for monitors generally if you're not so concerned with HDR - most manufacturers recommend doing any critical professional colour work at usually much less than 200 nits which nearly every monitor can reach.

Guess it really depends how bad it is. You could always check with BenQ their policy - monitor manufacturers usually have quite strict requirements for what counts as a warranty issue.

Thank you for your great review. i have a benq gw2480 monitor and i love it in every way. also i have an old 24" monitor as second monitor and i plan to buy a new monitor and sell my second monitor. I'm 3d artist and working with 3d softwares and somtimes using adobe softwares. is this monitor good for me? or i have to buy IPS panel monitor?
Thanks I'm glad you liked the review! An IPS monitor might be better but it's most likely more expensive like for like. I found the VA panel more than adequate for video and photo editing and general use. But it will just depend what you want to spend.
Is this monitor able to output 10 bit hdr from a hdmi 2.0 input such as from as PS4 pro? I've heard that 10 bit HDR output is only supported from the display port on this monitor. Also great review by the way, very in depth.
Yes it does support 10 bit - I can't remember off hand whether you need to connect via DP or if it works on HDMI too ...

This was a great in depth review thanks for this…..but had a question, for a person working in vfx industry and needing high color accuracy is this a better option than benq pd2700q?……..i know this one is 4k and other is 2k but if i am okay with 2k, which monitor will give me better and more accurate colors
Sorry I haven't looked at the 2700q so I can comment! If you need very high colour accuracy I'm sure there are better options - at a cost!

If you're interested in the HDR it's a good option without being too expensive. If you don't need the HDR there are many other options.
