My family doesn't want me to move out, they are like u can drive to school, they don't seem to understand that the University I'm going to is ACROSS THE COUNTRY
Relatable! I’ll do the same for my kids, this is actually what everyone should be doing, for the sake of not just the stability of the family and the financial status of the kids, but also of the whole society
This is so interesting to me because I live in Finland and here we have specific apartments for students with way lower rents than normal ones (and they are "real" apartments and not like dorms etc) and we get monthly financial support from our government to cover the costs of living and studying. Most students do still take student loan but the loan rate is quite low and the overall loan amount is not as massive as in the US
I had to fight for months SO. HARD. to move out at all. Months of hysteria, emotional blackmail and telling me how dumb and clumsy I am so I have no hopes of surviving out there on my own. .....fantastic parenting, truly.
I remember when I was in fourth grade, my mom and dad had told me this: "Once you're 18 and out to college, it's up to you to get a place, get a job, and start your life. We're okay with supporting you, but you need to do things without us." But after several health and financial complications on my end, my parents divorcing, and mom tearing her left meniscus *very badly,* here I am at age 26 living with my mom and her new husband. I'm allowed to live at the house, I currently have a stable job at my local grocery store, I take care of the house when my folks aren't around and help them with any heavy lifting things, and I put at least 20-25% minimum of what I make towards the family's bills/things they need to pay/save for. It's interesting to hear stories about people moving out, because not only is it hard for me to since I have health issues and a tendency to panic when left on my own... but perhaps it'll help me in the long run when it *is* time for me to go solo.
MrAwesome Matty, Please explain this to me (not doubting you or anything, I just wanna know) Do you just panic when you’re alone because a mental issue or just how you feel about being alone, you don’t have to answer, I’m just interested, because I’ve never heard of any mental disorder that gives anxiety/causes panic when you’re alone.
I'm not sure it's a mental disorder, and I can do fine on my own for like a week or so, but... I just don't have confidence in myself to where I can do things without help and I panic if I mess up and there's no one to help me. I think it stems from having a very verbally abusive boss, my best friend's death affecting me mentally, and various other things, but.... I don't know it's hard to describe, really.
MrAwesome Matty, that sucks. America really looks down upon people who stay with their parents, so I feel sorry for you if you do live in this country.
Yeah. I know what its like to have a sick mother... moving out is an experience, at first it will be hard and lonely, and you may be scared, but you will soon realose that having yoir own space is the best thing in the world. You dont have to move out far from your mother's, but I do believe you should... your stepdad and mum need their alone time too you know, and you can visit as much as you want. Good luck on your decision. Everything in a life takes a little courage and decision
Itzel Duran there were some hints in one of the videos I don't remember maybe either Why don't you break up? Or Cheating (not sure) but apparently it seemed as if Steve harassed a girl or maybe even raped her
Where tf are you finding studios in la for 1000? Thats bs. And it definitely not "downtown" la. I live in a suburb in az and cheapest rent for a one bedroom is like 1300/month. Most Phoenix appts will run close to 2. When i loved in la if you wanted a downtown studio it waa over 2,000. And for a one bedroom almost 3. If you lived in a crackhead neighbirhood you MIGHT get 1500. But downtown? Nah.
I don't understand why there is this stigma on kids who live with their parents longer than has been deemed "an appropriate amount of time." I mean, everyone's situation is different. Don't judge something until you know the circumstances around said individual. I myself finally moved out (officially and more permanently) from my dads place only 6 months ago. I just turned 29. Did I feel like less of an adult the 9 years I stayed with him? YES! Because everyone I knew had their shit together before I did. Did I let it demoralize me and beat me down? Eh... sometimes. Mostly when reconnecting with a friend and eventually they'd make the "You still live with your dad?" comment. Ugh. All in all I'm glad for how everything worked out and I'm grateful for my experiences this past decade. It helped me get to where I am today and made me smarter about it because I had the chance to breathe and plan and save. I believe if I had moved out at 18 or 20, I would have made a lot more stupid mistakes. :)
Lucifina BloodRavyn I'm in the same boat. Can't move out yet because I just don't have enough money saved yet and I'm in college and I had to quit the job I had because I had to switch schools.
I'm sure these are subjective questions, but I wonder what age most people move out, and what age ppl start to say "wow you still live with your parents?" I'm 19 and have only worked summer jobs, and I feel bad that I haven't moved out yet :( (I commute to community college)
I have a perfectly valid reason for not moving out (I'm 20 now..) Mental problems. I can't answer phones or doors, without an anxiety attack. The only friend I have lives across the country from me. Plus letting someone who is a danger to themselves, live alone, is very irresponsible.
Same, I don't understand but also...I don't give a shit LOL I'm saving rent money, I don't give a crap whatever people think about me. Actually, my mom said to me I should just live here all my life and build another floor to the already pre-existing 3 that my grandpa built. I have everything conveniently near: subway (metro), stores, markets, cinemas, malls, etc. Also, I own a shit ton of money to my university. I ain't spending that on rent, I want to travel.

So true. I did move out at 19 but life happened and I moved back in with my parents and worked and now I’ve saved up enough to completely pay off a house I’m looking to buy. Sure it hasn’t always been smooth but in the end definitely worth it. Life is tough.
Aww thanks Dom for this video, this was actually comforting and reassuring because now that I'm in college I feel pressured to move out like the rest of my classmates but my parents live so close to my school and I ain't got a job to support myself. I kinda looked down on myself for having to depend on my parents but this is reassuring, thank you
I had to live alone at the age of 17 due to family issues. I heard horror stories about people being unable to cook and living off noodles, but since i already to do everything myself i was able to manage for the first months whilst i was still getting the hang of everything. I wish i could have had other people take care of me until i was like 25 dom :(
Here in Greece kids can stay with their family for many many years and nobody says anything cause it's normal for us. And the family has no problem. They can stay home untill 40 and more. Ahh greek family. Greek parents always support their children.
Woah that sounds pretty nice. Here people already pressure you to moving out when you just finished school. Like, when I hit 18 years my mother would complain that there are people who already moved out with 15/16 years.
My mom kicked me out so I could get an apartment faster, since homeless people are the first priority when it comes to housing. Those and the ones who actually can afford expensive asf apartments. I wish she told me about it, because the only text I received after moving to my father's place for a month was "At least you don't have to bring me cider from the store", like that was the thing concerning me the most.
550-600 dollars a month is about 350-400 euros, it costs 200 euro a WEEK for a single ROOM in a shared house way out of town from amenities. if u want anything halfway decent ur looking at 1,800 to 2,200 a month (Southern Ireland)
Just came across your videos sir, and they’re really well done and relatable. Especially the whole moving out process. Never knew I had so much stuff in my old tiny room at my parent’s place. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
JRP had to stop half way through, wondering if that episode was just a "let's see how many people will watch absolutely nothing interesting happen" experiment
I just turned 18. I’m headed to the local community college this fall. I plan to stay at home till at least the end of college. I currently have a job and have been saving money my entire life. I would like to graduate college and be able to move into my own place with no worries. I’m kind of excited for that, even though it may not be for another few years.

I moved out at 19 and i gotta say life has been incredibly hard. But it was worth it bc of family problems. I’d definitely say if you can stay at home and save money, DO IT. Costs more to move out than you’d think
550 to 600 dollars a month?? in a downtown apartment?!??! THAT IS REALLY GOOD. And then at that point I'm surprised you didn't have a car. Anywho, cool story 😊
I would say that it was because being cheap was in his blood but, Nigerians are way cheaper, for my father, somehow, a 15 dollar 2 pizza box, of pizza is expensive. *facepalms* and once, there was a huge sale on these cocoa packets so a box of 16 was $0.99 and he bought like, twenty boxes.
I never knew such cheap apartments existed, the only ones I've ever lived in were 1700-3000 a month. And so I kinda got this mindset where every apartment is overpriced as hell and full of roaches and there's nothing you can do about it.
My family doesn't want me to move out, they are like u can drive to school, they don't seem to understand that the University I'm going to is ACROSS THE COUNTRY

So true. I did move out at 19 but life happened and I moved back in with my parents and worked and now I’ve saved up enough to completely pay off a house I’m looking to buy. Sure it hasn’t always been smooth but in the end definitely worth it. Life is tough.
Me: I'm moving out!!
Normal moms: Oh, sweetie, I'll miss you so much!
My mom: I know, I told you when you were 13.
lol

From then on, every time someone says "Dude what the hell?!", they're actually saying that guy's name..
Aww thanks Dom for this video, this was actually comforting and reassuring because now that I'm in college I feel pressured to move out like the rest of my classmates but my parents live so close to my school and I ain't got a job to support myself. I kinda looked down on myself for having to depend on my parents but this is reassuring, thank you
His Mom's accent is a true Filipino accent
Tropicanza Gent LOL!!!

so true
True! I was laughing so hard because it was so accurate
Yup. thats what its like to be a philipino. Yo family has an accent, but mine is only the grandparents
I had to live alone at the age of 17 due to family issues. I heard horror stories about people being unable to cook and living off noodles, but since i already to do everything myself i was able to manage for the first months whilst i was still getting the hang of everything. I wish i could have had other people take care of me until i was like 25 dom :(
SerFaggot nobody takes care of you until you're 25.
SerFaggot I feel so sorry for you...sometimes we don't unappreciate our parents for taking care of us
I'm binge watching domics right now because of the quarantine
"I won't tell you guys, it's a little inappropriate."
'she's a prostitute'

ClassyFied Haha
ClassyFied 😂 bruh
Here in Greece kids can stay with their family for many many years and nobody says anything cause it's normal for us. And the family has no problem. They can stay home untill 40 and more. Ahh greek family. Greek parents always support their children.
Ζω για τον Στρατο oxi Kai panta ;-;
Woah that sounds pretty nice.
Here people already pressure you to moving out when you just finished school.
Like, when I hit 18 years my mother would complain that there are people who already moved out with 15/16 years.
Ζω για τον Στρατο arabs too lol
Ζω για τον Στρατο Greek parents aren't the only who care for their children.
Angel x no shit bruh xD

Elvis Snoopy I've literally never heard if that guy in my life
My mom kicked me out so I could get an apartment faster, since homeless people are the first priority when it comes to housing. Those and the ones who actually can afford expensive asf apartments.
I wish she told me about it, because the only text I received after moving to my father's place for a month was "At least you don't have to bring me cider from the store", like that was the thing concerning me the most.
You should make more retales Dom! That would be awesome!
I don't think he has anymore Retales to tell
550-600 dollars a month is about 350-400 euros, it costs 200 euro a WEEK for a single ROOM in a shared house way out of town from amenities. if u want anything halfway decent ur looking at 1,800 to 2,200 a month (Southern Ireland)
the animation of Dom's mom drop kicking "Rent" was so great
My dad got a really cheap when he was young rent but drug addicts kept trying to break in lol he would just say I CAN HEAR YOU DRUGGIE
Girlwithabigheart 2 What language are you speaking
Just came across your videos sir, and they’re really well done and relatable.
Especially the whole moving out process. Never knew I had so much stuff in my old tiny room at my parent’s place.
Keep up the good work 👍🏻
I moved out of my parent's house at 16 and then 19 hours a way at 18 years old, so this kind of shocked me. But you do you bro. Cool story. :)
That filipino accent was amazing.

600 rent??I didn't realize how high prices shot up you can't even get a studio for under 1300 in my city
You know you're a RUclips success when you can make a 8 minute video about unglueing shelves and 1.7million people watch it
JRP imagine how much money he has after saving up for years with views like that
Lost Playa that's where I'm lost, he's been on YT for a few years now, not sure how he didn't have enough money for a place
Matthew Plays he said "Merry Christmas" instead of happy holidays or whatever so RUclips demonetized all his videos.
JRP 2.6
JRP had to stop half way through, wondering if that episode was just a "let's see how many people will watch absolutely nothing interesting happen" experiment
5:56 UMMM OK THEN xD
What's so surprising?
BornstellarPrime :D When little dom says "my neighbor is a prostitute"

Daysako thank god you don't live in denver, because downtown apartments cost 1500-2000 bucks a month.
$500 is cheap compared to where I live where EVERY apt starts at $1000 a month😔
Gotta move out of my state, or at least the town
I just turned 18. I’m headed to the local community college this fall. I plan to stay at home till at least the end of college. I currently have a job and have been saving money my entire life.
I would like to graduate college and be able to move into my own place with no worries. I’m kind of excited for that, even though it may not be for another few years.
Good luck!

$500-$600 dollars????? FAM. A one bedroom apartment in Seattle in a crappy neighborhood is like $1200.
I guess the difference between Canada and America is shown even more.
All the more reason for me to move to Canada
and 600 bucks in Canada equals like 460 in the US too, so it's even crazier

I moved out at 19 and i gotta say life has been incredibly hard. But it was worth it bc of family problems. I’d definitely say if you can stay at home and save money, DO IT. Costs more to move out than you’d think
I am Asian so I probably won't have to move out until I get marry 😂

In my now brain and also in the US hearing 550-650 to be expensive is like unknown to me
550 to 600 dollars a month?? in a downtown apartment?!??!
Einstien And Enfield. Nigerians unite
where I live there are some houses that are like $260 *A WEEK*
I never knew such cheap apartments existed, the only ones I've ever lived in were 1700-3000 a month. And so I kinda got this mindset where every apartment is overpriced as hell and full of roaches and there's nothing you can do about it.
I took it as 550 to 600 per person living there.
Who else is here before it goes trending
