    Happy Sunday, Christine. Great technique. Your last comment about it looking great with Christmas trees really got me inspired. I have quite a lot of mirror card in various colors. I'm anxious to see how they would come out. And, even though it's called Black Ice, I know Staz-on comes in various colors and I think I'd like to try a green on green maybe. I'm just going to try a small piece of colored mirror to start as silver may be the preferred way to go and, of course, I don't want to waste my precious mirror card!

    RE: MARRED METALLIC CARD STOCK …. Christine, I’m not sure if YOUR DieCutting/Embossing machine can handle this, but another y.t.’r has shared with us that we crafters could EXTEND the USEFUL LIFE of our CUTTING PLATES, if we use two layers of PLASTIC SHEETING (like the kind that’s sold here in the States by the yard for table coverings) OR HEAVY PLASTIC BAGS (that bedding is sold in). Each layer is placed against one of the cutting plate’s “inner” sides, with the die and cardstock sandwiched between. The plastic sheets become sacrificial, and are to be replaced over time, but they save the original cutting plates and help keep metallic card stock from being marred. AN ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGE M A Y BE that the GREEK KEY die you showed us recently MAY ACTUALLY CUT using this sandwich!

    • @Chrissieannie
      @Chrissieannie  Год назад

      I have taken to using vellum as a barrier between the die and the top plate to a) protect the top plate from indentations and b) To prevent the indentations transferring to a new piece of card. Your suggestion has me wondering if I should use a piece of Mylar instead, although the vellum helps considerably. Thank you

    • @kkrolf2782
      @kkrolf2782 Год назад

      @@Chrissieannie Whatever works, Kiddo. As I have some “cheapo” chinese dies that don’t cut well, it seems to be a boon to have this bit of extra “squish” for the die to bite into to achieve the cut. In truth we get what we pay for, but some of these were just SOOO stinkin’ cute I couldn’t pass them up!! And I hadn’t seen them in “legitimate” retail venues. Anyway …. Love ya, Girl, and THOROUGHLY enjoy spending my evenings learning from you! Be well.

    Fabulous. Thank you so much! I think, for smaller pieces, I could lightly tape the cardstock to the work surface in order to drag the pads across. Then I wouldn't have to work around my fingers trying to hold it still. I'll try this!

      Do you have the name of A SPECIFIC BRAND of DIMENSIONAL you used? The reason I ask is I’m pretty sure the purpose of the plastic inner cover is to keep the pad from drying out. BUT if the Dimensionals are t o o s h o r t, they’d cause a slight gap because they’d hold the inner cover too high up in the cover cavity. Thanks for bearing with me on this “technical question”. 😔 🙏
