Heeeey guys, if you are new to the world of LARP and want to know more, here's a video where I show all kinds of cool Larp events and explain the basics of Live Action Roleplay: ruclips.net/video/mWtnql6Epf8/видео.html
Imagine if you had like a 100 buddies and some horses and showed up with a Templar expeditionary force fully kitted to this and declared a holy war on all non-humans.
Omg, watching this video made me realize that my heart secretly craves LARP events and roleplaying to satisfy my inner LOTR-geek, and I didn't even know it! 😍😍😍😍😍😍
I was at the first Drachenfest that took place at Nürburgring's camp site. Back then there were only 5 dragons, if I remember correctly, and only about 3000 people. I can't remember the toilettes, and there weren't enough showers to accomodate so many people at the same time. On the first day, the drains were clogged and there was dirty water everywhere. We always left the showers with clean bodies, but with dirty feet. 😂 On the day of the final bit battle, it was thundery, so we weren't allowed to wear any metal amour.

Because of the size, there are players for ever playstyle. Even deep roleplay is possible. But the main event ist more like Olympia then a deep story larp event
Yeah, so as people said before me: It's 24/7 roleplay - but everyone decides within their groups how deep they go. However, you wouldn't get out of character if you met someone - I've seen that at international events outside of Germany and that's not something people would generally do here. So long story short: Smaller events will always have a more "deep" immersion. But Drachenfest is definitely in-game and not semi-roleplayed
I love your channel. It has shown me a world I knew only that it existed, but had no idea how fascinating it is. Thanks for that. Your videos are also extremely well made. Am binging through em now. 👍🏻👏🏻
I adore you're videos, the energy you have in them. I recently hung up my boffer sword and now I am looking at proper larps, such as Drachenfest. looks like one hell of a time.
Thank you for this video! I just started LARP 2 years ago and just went to very small cons (events) or private plays and taverns. I hope you and my Bard will meet someday 😊
Thank you Caro! I'm so glad you liked it. We will try to push out more content until the end of the year =) And of course, we are always very active on ze Instagrams and Facebooks hehe
I've very recently started up in larp... the local game here is Swordcraft. It's also a loosely medieval game, but the costumes functionally reach up to the 1820's. It's genuinely so much fun. There's so many insane schemes you can get involved in! There was this guy playing a knight... he had an egg (like, a regular chicken egg) that it was his sacred duty to guard as it was a symbol of his protection of the people. He was so damn pompous though that my character got involved with the Syndicate (the underworld crime ring) just to put out a contract on this guy's egg and ransom it back to him hahhaha. It was just really absurd, but everyone is so fun about contributing to the player-generated stories. Drachenfest looks rad!
Hey Sonja, very good video. I am not into LARP but enjoyed your good work here anyways. So hopefully you keep on going with youtube. - Liebste Grüße aus Bayern.

Thank you for this video! I just started LARP 2 years ago and just went to very small cons (events) or private plays and taverns. I hope you and my Bard will meet someday 😊

yeay! Glad you like it!!
Oh cool - Swordcraft is in Australia, I think, right?

Man, if only I were twenty five years younger! This would've been a childhood DREAM COME TRUE!
Age shouldn't stop you from doing LARP. 😀 "old people" are great enrichment for any setting. Diversity makes LARP only better.
oh you can literally not be too old for LARP - we have a couple 70-somethings in Larp. There's still time to make your childhood dream come true =)
That armour the merchant was selling is awesome and I wonder if I could use a stormcast eternal as my character as they still die in combat but are returned to life in sigmars realm almost immediately so they still journey back to rejoin their fellow soldiers or what about a Khorne Berserker and also next year I’m definitely making the journey as this sounds awesome 😁
so you want to be either Imperial or Chaos? 😁 Sure thing, you can base your character on all kinds of backgrounds.. depending on that, you might want to choose a different camp though. Chaos characters are great in the "Eternal Change" camp for example
@@SonjasAdventures definitely 😁😁 and that camp definitely sounds perfect for a tzeentch cultist or sorcerer 😁 thank you so much for your response and I’m glad I’m not the only one that will be doing a Warhammer character 😁

That looks like a great experience, one day when i have my own cosplay ready i need to go to these festivals.
no cosplay please.
@@Kullioking ??? But that's what it is. You cosplay a character in real life.
@@WafflezDay Nop, cosplay is that you create a costume from a charakter out of a game, movie, manga, anime, etc... and perform as this charakter. LARP is you create your own chrakter and play it and gife it your own personality.
@@Kullioking Semantics. By definition, LARP is cosplaying your own character

A bird told me there is a branch of Drachenfest in North America. Do you know if they follow the same system as the events in Europe? Danke schoen~
Hey there, yes there is a Drachenfest US. How do you mean the same system? Do you mean the same exact rules? That, I dont know. 😊 But you can simply ask them: They have an Instagram and Facebook page (and probably a homepage too) 👍 It was their first year in 2022

I have been there a few years ago and I was on a few pre cons, bit didn't visit Drachenfest for a while.
Maybe at some point it'll work out again. It was a great experience and the community is great.
Yeah so far I've been to Drachenfest twice: Once in 2011 and once in 2019 (where I filmed this video). I usually attend Conquest of Mythodea and that's the week after - so it's not always easy to fit both into a vacation plan =) But it's worth the visit for sure
Seems like I have to revive my LARP days. I've only ever been to CoM, but DF sounds more like my playstyle.
if you are into Player versus Player more so than a huge NPC army, then yes, DF is more for you =) It's smaller than CoM of course, but that doesnt do any harm =)
Have you considered checking out the UK LARP company Profound Decisions and their Empire game?
Hey Paul, I have heard about it but unfortunately, I can only afford to travel to other countries for LARP ( and film it) , if the organizers cover it. Why?
