- The Lumix 35-100 X-Vario f2.8 is one of my workhorse lenses. I currently use it a lot for my photojournalism work, mounted on my Lumix G9. But, it's also a great nature & landscape photography lens. Here are some of my thoughts on it and a slideshow of images produced with it.
And as folks have noticed, I forgot to mention mine is the Mark II version of the lens with Power OIS, so it works with Dual IS 2 and IS Lock when shooting video, which really helps with sharp shots in low light.
But before that, a bit about the rumors of a pending Lumix G9 Mark II

Great music
I've used the 35-100 ii once, for a wedding, in combo with 12-35. Great lens. Can't wait for a G9 ii. Phase detect and unlimited recording is all I ask for... Basically what I hoped the GH6 would be... Great pics Mr Bannor!
Like to see the work with the lens
Todd, you should have mentioned 35-100 Mark II, that's the Power OIS version which has the newest Dual IS 2 system which will help with sharpness certainly with the G9
Definitely looking forward to a G9 II although I have to say, Olympus really has my heart over the Panasonic gear (most lenses but not the 35-100 or 100-300)
Yes, I should have mentioned I have the Mark II. I’ve added this to the title and description. Thank you!
Hi Kevin, so are You saying you like or dislike the 35-100 and 100-300? I’m asking only for purpose of clarifying, thanks and peace
@@georgedavall9449 They're both good lenses but Olympus glass is much better to my eye. Panasonic lenses tend to pair best with Panasonic cameras though both in sharpness and colour and AF seems to work more as intended. I do like these lenses personally though
Hello Todd, I always enjoy your videos. I have the 45-150 and like it a lot, so didn't see a need for the 35-100 especially with the great IBIS of the latest Lumix cameras-. I bought and returned the Leica 50-200 because the difference in speed didn't seem worth it when that lens is much bigger (even if small compared to full frame equivalents). The 45-150 is great for my purposes and I love that it is so compact. Thanks
Thank you! The 45-150 is a great lens and gives up nothing in sharpness to the 35-100 f2.8. I took it and the G95 + Lumix 12-60 to Olympic National Park last year. It would be nice if it were weather sealed. But for my photojournalism work I need the wider aperture fairly frequently.
@@ToddBannor Oh I see -- I'm not a photojournalist but definitely can see why you would need the extra speed sometimes. I do have faster 45mm and 25mm lenses I use occasionally but I usually can take the time to change lenses, unlike a photojournalist :)
Beautiful photographs Todd. Is your lens the version one or version two ?
Version two. Sorry for not mentioning this.
Which version is yours?
Mark II. Sorry for not mentioning it.
