- For this series I’ll be taking you with me through New York & New Jersey to various Music Stores & Record Shows. Sifting through CD’s, vinyl, and whatever else the stores have to offer. Then at the end I’ll un-bag the loot and discuss why I chose the ones I did. Come on…let’s go to the record store!

This video explains the best why it's cool to collect music physically.
I really enjoy that you’re leaving commentary via the text at the bottom. Thanks.
You’re welcome Greg. Thought I’d try something a little different on this video. Hopefully others will like it too.
Great video. Anthony's record store is amazing. Fun reading your comments in the video to certain albums.
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the different approach to this video adding the comments.
I could be in there for at least 2 hours going through everything. Thanks for taking us there.
The little comments you added make this type of videos even more interesting. Sparks new ideas !
Cool! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I love this new addition of comments about some of the albums you pick up, it also helped me check some of these cds out because of your comment! 🙂
Glad to hear the added bonus of text was helpful!
I'd go broke shopping at Anthony's store. What an amazing inventory he has. A+
After a year of going to his store it still amazes me. The store as a whole is doing a great job keeping good inventory for us music fans. It’s one of the only places to buy “new” CDs too. I cherish that part as I prefer to buy in person when I can.
Nice to see some Mad Season love!🤘
I live like a half hour from this place. Haven't been there in over 20 years. I use to go to this place quite a bit to find rare late 80's metal and AOR albums. When grunge was happening in the 90's it was hard to find a music store to escape to that still had a lot of the stuff i was into . The cassettes use to be horizontal and all the way in the back on the right . Bought a ton of stuff there back in the day and in the 90's there was still a lot of good shows at Birch Hill in Old Bridge. Saw King Diamond, Savatage, Dokken, Dio , Warrant, Dangerous Toys and many more . Miss the old days !
I love that there are music stores out there that still have new releases from bands! You don't see that as often anymore. Also, I totally agree about the 'On Through the Night' album cover, it is pretty cool with the flying bus with guitar on top.
I had 2 tremendous record stores in my hometown growing up in the 7️⃣0️⃣s. My parents would have to fish me out of there weekly/ spent hours. Shame, my kids don’t know the amount of joy I got from it. Different times . 👍💯
Yeah record store shopping is definitely a past enjoyment. I too spent hours at my local record stores while my mom would do her shopping. Then she’d have to come back to get me and I’d always ask for more time!
Spectacular shop!
I am always so impressed by how many catalog titles Anthony has. Most places carry a couple albums by an artist. But at Sound Exchange, it looks like you could pick up nearly an entire output from some bands.
That is what makes Sound Exchange so good and enjoyable. Literally anything I’m looking for they have. When I first found the store about a year ago I was walking out with stacks.
every month that record store stays in business, i applaud
It shows no sign that it won’t continue to stay in business.
Nice, I like the captions you have introduced
Y&T is such an underrated band.
I need that Deep Purple In Rock.
I found a few nice cds today at a used book store: Kate Bush Lionheart, Mike Oldfield Tubular Bells, Buggles Age of Plastic, Stones Get Yer Ya's Out and Simon & Garfunkel Bookends and Wednesday Morning, 3am. I was thrilled to find these.
'Walk On' is my 2nd favourite Boston album after the debut!
Nice to see Budgie' 'Squawk' in the racks. We only ever see the 'Best Of' CD in the main retail shops.n
I also recently discovered Missing Persons. Good stuff.
@10:46
👍
One of my favorites. If you haven't checked them out before, I'd also recommend Bow Wow Wow.
Thumbs up!
I could definitely spend a lot of money there😂. Great place
Yes it’s that kind of place where there is always something you will want!
Sound Exchange in Wayne, I will co-sign on it being an incredible spot. When I was living in NJ, I was in South Jersey, so Sound Exchange is kind of a hike. Me and a buddy would always take road trips and do a circuit of record shops, Sound Exchange has been ventured to several times and I’ve always walked out with a haul and a half! I miss NJ for their record stores, still haven’t found a lot down here in Florida. But I’m still on the search.
That Dirty Deeds with the hype was very nice!
I really Love this Show
Brilliant work 🎉
Wish we had record stores like this where i live!
Great video as always! Thanks for sharing your trip to this awesome record store!
Never heard of Missing Persons before, but they’ll be joining my collection after checking them out. Great to find something new, old stuff!
Brendon the Bryan Adams album Pretty Woman was released last year digitally only and a week before his album So Happy It Hurts, Now this Pretty Woman album is available from May 12th as both physical CD and Vinyl editions 👍
You got me jonesing for that Boston lp.
I'm surprised you haven't pulled up any albums from 90s groove metal band Prong out of the Big Apple, NYC. Being an ex-college radio DJ, I got introduced to their music when the station where I once worked played their signature song "Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck" in heavy rotation during my freshman year in college. So many great memories.
Another 90s heavy metal band played exclusively on the college radio station where I worked was Mutha's Day Out, who had a sound very reminiscent of Danzig, Corrosion of Conformity and even some Tony Martin-era Sabbath. These guys deserved to make it big, but unfortunately grunge and alt-rock had dominated the airwaves. "Locked" is said to be MDO's signature song, but "Green" is an awesome power ballad that should have been a HUGE rock hit.
I'm a Deadhead, When I need a break from metal. Which isn't very often lol. I love listening to Anthoney in the background. the dude rocks!!
I recently started getting into them as a change of pace. It’s interesting how their sound has changed over the years (just compare the debut to something like Terripan Station), but it’s definitely still distinctively The Dead.
I cannot get into the newer Dead & Company incarnation because I absolutely loathe John Mayer. He’s a great guitarist, but seems to treat women horribly.
Those 2 def Leppard cds will always be my favorite have you ever been to music connection in Elmwood Park nj I have to check you're archives to find out take care
I've got that Boston and you're right.
Love Boston!
@@BrendonSnyder we finally got to see them live in 2016. As long as Tom Scholz is around they'll always sound like Boston. Kind of crazy to see the guy on Hagar's I Can't Drive 55 with him. Scholz plays a hell of an organ too. I never got the Corporate whatever album though.
16K subs , yes.
Thanks Randy!
Always love the Sound Exchange videos, and nice to see they had Mad Season in stock, one of my all-time favourites! Happy Sunday, have a good one.
Hello Brendon! I just noticed an error on the GnR UYI track list. The song should be Dead Horse not Dead Horses. Great video!!! Rick and Lynette
Love your personal comments here and there…
Thanks Bernt! Glad to hear you enjoyed them.
Nice visit! Thank you.
Cheers.
8:06 Brendon, Yes I do!!!!!
Awesome video man!!!! I love checking out records and cds and such, great finds!!!!!!
Thanks Brendon, I always look forward to this videos. If I ever find my way up at NJ I’m definitely going to check it out.
Should've picked up that Fishbone cassette!
Thank you for this video...details in subtitles helped me to select cds. I am new and found of glam or hair metal bands like dokken...ratt..motley.. can you give me a list of best glam metal album to buy..
It is nice to see the all the CDs like that, I could spend at least a day in there. Was kinda hoping you would pull out a CD by Survivor, I sent Anthony a list and am hoping he has the Rock Candy reissue of Vital Signs. I can get it elsewhere but I like supporting small businesses and Anthony seems like a good dude. Thanks for the tour.
It’s not hard for me to spend several hours when I go in. There is always something new to search out. Plus they’re always getting new inventory.
4:52 that's the dookie album. And there's the pink floyd album I'm obsessed with 6:11 which is The Wall
4:13 that is mine as well Brendon.
Morning brendon 2 of the all time best def leppard albums there that was the first I ever saw them when them 2 albums came out back in england
Really wish I had a Sound Exchange near me -- such a great shop. And I still think you should do an Enuff Z'Nuff album ranking (at least the Donnie Vie era) -- lots of viewers would be surprised by the size of their catalog. THX Brendon!
Looks like a great store. They make so many Deluxe editions these days and now I feel I need that one for The Cars first album. And I have no idea what happened to ALL my old Night Ranger CDs so I feel like I need to get them again but would love to see a reissue.
Curious with your huge collection if you know and heard the band Sloan out of Canada. They’ve made a bunch of albums since the 90’s and still going strong. In fact, a good starting point is their latest album “Steady”. All 4 members contribute and sing so the vibe can be different at times but it’s pretty much straight ahead rock/pop. First two tracks and last track on that album are terrific.
This place looks amazing!!
Brandon, don't be surprised if you get a copyright strike because of th music playing in th background. I've been hearing creators say that lately. One was a mechanic doing a how-to video in his garage, & like all mechanics, he had a radio playing softly in the background & that got his video taken down. I really hope that doesn't happen to you ! Plus, I loved hearing it
Already dealt with such things. I find under 7 seconds and no copyright strike. That’s why you don’t see any segments longer than 7 seconds. Now think about that in terms of having to film enough 7 second excepts to make a 15 min video. Pain in the ass…but it’s how its done.
@Brendon Snyder Oh man, that would suck! I'm glad you're aware & know how to fix it, though. I should've known that's why th song kept changing when nothing else did. 🍻
I'm sad. My local record store owner in town just passed away suddenly a couple weeks ago. Now I may be stuck buying all of my lps/cds online
Maybe the family will sell the store to someone who will take it over and keep it going. Let’s hope for the best. 👍
Cool Later!!!!!! 🥸😁🎧👋🏻
👍
I went to my local shop last night called Horizon Records. There was a couple that had a gift card or coupon for 100 dollars and it was fun watching them try to get the biggest bang for exactly 100. They were meticulous in their vinyl selections and finally got a beautiful stack of music for $99.60. I thought maybe they could have found a used vinyl for 40 cents, but hey. 😅
Фантастика! Я видел свои любимые альбомы на CD... Kyuss, Candlebox, Rollins Band, Alice in Chains, Primus, Motley Crue, Queensryche, Misfits. Брэндон, почаще выпускайте такие видео. Это очень впечатляет!
Sound Exchange seems to have more msde than the other record stores you've been too. What surprised me is how many of the albums you chose I have. I got a pretty good idea of what new CD albums cost even though some didn't have price tags on them, but you didn't go through the used CD albums for us to see prices on those. Heard Anthony in the back ground. Shout out to Anthony!! Your video store videos always good.
Used single CDs seem to go for $7.98. In one of the previous videos Anthony said to feel free to email him a list and he see if he had what you are looking for. I did and he had a lot of what I wanted.
Did you get the post Shannon hoon Blind melon? For my friends, pretty good. Are you guys going to do the sound suggestions segment? Always liked those👍
Yes I have For My Friends. It’s a good album and would have loved the band to continue. We have a new video called What Floats Your Boat posting soon. Kinda of the same as Sound Suggestions but with a little twist.
@@BrendonSnyder excellent! I assumed you had that album. Just mentioning. Look forward to more episodes, good deal 👍
This looks like a great store.
Like that you have the captions now, that's cool. Also were all of those CD's in shrinkwrap new, or were some used? I saw some really old issues in there that you showed.. I need to pick up that new Angel CD also.
Great record store that looks like it has everything. Have you ever heard a band called Dirty Nil?
i’ll have to spin that Heaven’s Gate again…i bought it but first spin was 5/10
I really like the Sweet & Lynch album
Wish I could buy that many every wk. I usually buy 4 or 5 every Friday when I get paid
7:39 I have the 2 CDs/DVD That’s Vol 1, Vol 3 and the DVD
does anyone know what's the first song playing when looking through the vinyls? I have never heard it before but it sounds amazing to my ears!
Toxik - A thrash metal band I have tried to listen to or get into their music, but nothing has clicked with me. I like the instrumental talent they have, but I can't handle the singer's voice. And I know they've had a few frontmen.
What’s your favourite Ramones album mines is road to ruin and too tough to die great show
Road To Ruin is great but I’d have to go with Mondo Bizarro with Poison Heart, Strength To Endure, and It’s Gonna Be Alright.
@@BrendonSnyder thanks for reply bud all Ramones albums rock it’s the pure energy they brought to the plate do a guilty pleasure show I seen u said the bangles on in store they were phenomenal I’m more the second album your shows rock and your favourite crowes albums mine too and there my favourite band so 👍🏼👍🏼
7:27 Brendon, is this the debut?
That store background music, yikes. Are those Anthony's selections ?
Do you like David Lindley and Ry Cooder?
The pricing on new CD's is so random
I can't understand why people think pearl jam is a classic
Because they are! 😂 The album Ten and it’s follow up albums Vs. and Vitology were zeitgeist type moments in Rock like Nirvana’s Nevermind. Whether you like the music or not it’s now classic.
Bon Jovi album has a better cover 😁👍
new angel had too many weird audio samples
I like the new album, but I could do without the sound effects too.
Overpriced. Especially the cds. You can find some of those for $5.
Brand new?! Where?! These were not used.
Y&T’s “facemelter” was alright, but hardly worthy of that title
I prefer Black Tiger.
