Here's a tip for you.
Next time you need to physically pull "Baby" closer to shore, or along the shore, wrap the line around your hips and use your body weight by leaning back into the line. Using this method will prevent injuries to your shoulder(s) in the future.
As for your barge pole, next time you see George see if he would put a steel pointed tip on the pole. That will make ice breaking easier but will add a bit of weight to the pole.

Love your vlogs May, it’s right what your friend said about damaging your blacking it also damages the blacken moored boats and if there are plastic or fibreglass boats you could push a sheet of ice through them

It’s sort of a thing that you don’t move through ice. The CRT don’t have a problem with overstaying if this happens as you can damage your own, and other, boats. 🥰

Amazing May the ice breaking machine. The boatinh world is wonderful thing to part especially in winter. The more difficult the challenge the more times you end up talking to your boat. Great video may, I didn't think you could get stuck in ice on the canal with you being such a ray of sunshine yourself, joking aside a little tip for you from us anglers, if you have room on your boat then carry a sledge hammer head on a chain connected to a rope and use that to break the ice

Find a video on sweating lines. This is more commonly a sailing boat technique, but it will save you a lot of back-ache in certain situations.

A bloody range on a boat! Now theres posh. They're a gift in a house so multiply that by 10 for a boat. Theres something squillerly about gathering up wood and having to gather up wood during daylight to keep you warm at night. A needle and thread for the arse of your pants wouldn't be grandeur either.😂

However, wouldnt it be better to wear a flotation vest? The water is really cold, and if you fall in you wont have long before the cold incapacitates you. There is nothing on narrowboats that would help getting out of the water.

@@wellbeingonwater Thank you, btw is there a reason for not using a small Diesel heater like the Danish brand Refleks? Not knowing much about narrowboats technically it seems to me being way more convenient than dealing with wood.

I might understand the need to play musical chairs in the height of the season to stop people hogging all the best spots but in the low seasons like now, where is the necessity - seems like a pointless, environmental waste to me?
Maybe, there’s a slight change to the rules. 24/48 hr spots become 2 weeks. So I guess that’s helpful

Too much ice to 'move' the boat, or the ice. just read some comments from experienced boaters, so deleting my advice because i don't know what I'm talking about eh, @markrant4133. Where i Iive, we have a canal but it's partially drained in winter, allowed to freeze so we can have an Ice festival.
But, climate change means the weather's not reliable any more. Good to see you are trying different things to keep going. Maybe get a sponsor who will supply you with active hard-wearing clothes, jeans fall apart because they are loose-weave. You need microfiber fabric that won't fall apart under duress
