I haven't found any MacGillivray in my ancestry, but that sure is interesting. No doubt some of my ancestors were at Culloden; I have names from that time period, but nothing says why they left there and came here. Thanks for putting these video's on, I"m really enjoying them.
Dear Iain, I wish you and all other clanmembers who will be there, a wonderful, loving and memorable time . I'll be looking forward to see all the pictures and videos of the event. Love and greetings from the Netherlands
I hope that one day I'll be able to visit Scotland and learn more about the MacGilvary clan. My stepdad is a MacGilvary and I have always admire the clan matto "touch not this cat"
Hello Iain, are you the son of Pauline and Robert McGillivray? I had the pleasure of meeting them in Auckland, NZ and Edinburgh. Marjorie McGillivray 0:02
I joined a Facebook page that features Scotland, etc. There someone mentioned a relative by the name of Gill. I perked up! What? My paternal g & gg grandmothers were Gill's! The odd thing is gg grandma was married to an Orrin Gill & her daughter was a Gill. Hmmm...I heard possibly Irish. I have no way to track down the truth. All the old ones that might know have died. Then another person posted that the name Gill was from MacGillivray, whether Irish, Scottish or English. Wow! I was so blown away by the possibilities! When I saw the buckle "Touch Not This Cat" I laughed out loud. I am also a "Cat Mom." My real name reflects a wild cat. I also support the efforts of saving the Scottish wild cat. I wonder again...are my ancestors "talking to me" as they seem to have when I found out my MTDNA, later my Dad's YDNA that shows stronger Celtic leanings. Stunned to say the least. I cried. I wish I knew where I could find the records I need. Seems too much is lost from the past in my lineages. If it still exists it is out there somewhere, if only I can find it.
Are they going to try for another gathering? If so, would love to come, once COVID is done. I am descended from Lachlan MacGillivray, whom was a partner of my 6th GGM, Sehoy of the Creeks. Alexander MacGillivray was my 5th Great uncle, as I come from his sister’s line.
Hello from Nova Scotia - proud MacGillivray here 💙. I had the opportunity to get to Scotland a couple years ago and was really planning on coming to this gathering with my mother in 2020 - but I think COVID-19 is putting a damper on that for us. Would there be a way to join some events digitally, or interact more with each other? Thanks Iain!
My daughter is the daughter of a Mcgillivray who spoke of ties to the clan but he has abandoned her. She is 6 years old. Do you have any resources I can give to her when she is old enough? Thank you for making this
Sending love from us MacGillivrays here in south Florida! Going to Scotland is a dream of mine - one day!
Hello from central Florida:) don’t find many of us here!

After doing research, we to are descended from Lachlan MacGillivray and Sehoy, a small world.
I’m also a descendant of theirs!
Hi I'm doing DNA paternal research and this name keeps popping up I don't know how far back tho
