If you watch the scene where Nancy shoots Vecna, you will notice the framing and movements mirror Sarah Connor shooting the T1000 at the end of T2.

About the dice rolls in the initial S4 Ep 1 D&D session: Dustin rolls an 11. That isn't good enough. Perhaps foreshadowing that Eleven can't win this battle alone. The roll of 20 gets it done, which can be interpreted as 11 + 9: Eleven plus her 9 friends.
Or this could be 11 + 8 + 1. 8 was in s2 but nobody addresses what happened to her. And maybe, 1 comes back or smt idk but another idea to throw out there
Anybody notice Vickie’s resemblance to Molly Ringwald’s character in “Sixteen Candles?” When Robin sees her at the Warzone store with her bf, she’s wearing that iconic hat & has the whole look of Molly👩🏻🦰

It’s uncanny. Her look is Ringwald’s from Pretty in Pink. Speaking of John Hughes movies: Suzie’s house in Utah is similar to the central characters’ houses in Home Alone and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
She wears a hat in both movies, either way yes I immediately thought of Molly Ringwald. And that was a trend back in 1986, I remember getting one for Christmas & screaming in delight
THIS is how you do "homage" - work the cultural references into a unique plot that actually works and stands on its own. I love it. So deep and rich with detail and lore that actually feels important and carefully thought-out. This is why this show works where so many others do not.

This season had a lot of "IT" vibes!!! Other than the balloons, The Creel house also represented the abandoned house from 'IT". And all the characters floating up just before they die is also found in "IT" as one of the girls were found in the air at the end of the first IT movie! And a more obvious similarity, both monsters gave kids really scary visions!!
If only Vecna had said, “Want a balloon? Everything FLOATS down here”🎈 mmwahahahaha
IT and Freddy Krueger were the main inspo for Vecna, Henry's dad was in fact played by Freddy's actor
@@s4xtt Vecna actually has quite a few connections with his D&D counterparts. Down to getting trapped in another dimension and teaming up with an 'ancient brethren' to escape it. There is a whole lot more though, and some great YT videos that talk about the D&D version.
The Dnd version's cults went around pulling everyone's eyes out. Also, like they said in the end session, he is missing an eye.
I had seen the first season of ST and first IT movie in the same week, i was so confused about the similarities for months.
The way Nancy, Robin, Steve, and Dustin dress for the final battle is homage to Red Dawn, even Dustin use the hood like Patrik Swayze

It really is an astonishing work of art for the Duffer Brothers to include so much diverse un related bits of 80's movie references into one cohesive narrative without it feeling forced.
Nancy shooting the pump action shot gun at Vecna had major vibes of Linda Hamilton shooting the T-1000 in Terminator 2
Did anyone else notice the team were all dressed as The Wolverines from Red Dawn? Even Nancy had the poofy hair that looked like Jennifer Grey, lol. That was great!
I noticed it too. Dustin had the hood with bandana like patrick swayze and Robin had a berret like c thomas howell.
Nightmare on Elm Street gets a few references, and Robert Englund played the part of Victor Creel.
Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy dress alike characters are noted. There is so much nostalgia in this show, yet it is amazing! I love it!
This channel always has the best Stranger Things content. They nailed so many of the Easter eggs here. I got some of them while watching, but now I’m kicking myself for missing the obvious ones.

I knew Eddie was going to die because when he was talking about graduating in his introductory scene he said “I’m ‘86” or something close to that. In American slang the term “86” means to stop or get rid of something. I immediately knew the writers would take him from us way too soon lol I also believe those dice rolls are MAJOR foreshadowing, and if you look at Erica’s critical hot dice roll, underneath the twenty is an Upside down number 8. Kali is the goddess of time, soI definitely believe she will play a significant part and there ABSOLUTELY is a time travel element to it. It’s all over the series from Season 1 on. My theory is that 11 tried to reach Henry Creel emotionally and it didn’t work the first time, but if she kept trying, or reached him at a younger age, who knows? Then you might end up with 1+8+11 working together for a “Critical Hit” of 20 to take down the Upside down.

@@FlicksAndTheCity Eddie's intro scene: "It's my year. I can feel it. '86 baby". Eddie's 2nd scene is with Crissy who is wearing an '86 necklace pendant. To 86 something is to get rid of it or in extreme situations, kill it.
based on what we know about henry's powers of telekinesis, illusions, and possibly time manipulation; brenner's experiments to try to replicate henry's powers; and how most of the children only show the telekinesis but kali only shows the illusions, maybe kali also has time manipulation?
WHO ELSE THINKS WILLS Fire balls from DnD and him being a wizard will come to be true in season 5. Fire being most effective against the upside down world and will being a wizard in DnD and the painting he gave mike… also Joyce describes Will the Same as Henry’s dad describes Henry “special and likes to draw”
I have said since the beginning that there has to have been a reason that he sought out Will, and not just coincidence because he was alone. I think Will has powers, and maybe even some of the other characters as well.
@@LadyDelSangue87 that would be so cool if Will did end up with powers. Plus I think he is the only “survivor” who was attacked by him.
This is a just a thought, but the way the four gates open and spread it reminds me of how the game DigDug works, when you connect the lines you can destroy the land in the game, fitting since the high score holder of DigDug was Max.

Not exactly 80's but anyone else realized that the scene when Hopper Slice the Demogorgon and Nancy shot Vecna's body before Eleven can beat Vecna draw a comparison to Neville cutting Nagini before Harry can beat Voldemort
Something similar happens to the terminator in Terminator 2 and to an iteration of the title character in The Thing (1982). We see Mr. Clark watching this very scene of The Thing on TV in season 1.

In Episode 8, there is a strangely synthesized version of the Journey song "Separate Ways/Worlds Apart," which is deliciously appropriate because it's a great song that was popular around that time, but it plays at the exact moment the gang all go their separate ways to execute the plan that takes them worlds apart. But it gets better. A student of Journey (which I am. BTW, I graduated high school in 1986, the year that this story takes place.) would notice that they conspicuously omitted the famous lyric "break those chains that bind you." They skipped right over it and it felt weird. Why did they do that?! I asked myself at the time, storing it away in my mind. Now I get it!
Guess what! It came back around, in Episode 9! In Max's nightmare version of her would-be happy memory, of last season's school dance; some music suddenly starts up. It's The police, performing "Every Breath You take," (another great song that was popular at that time). But which Police lyric did the Duffers choose to emphasize? "Every Bond You Break." Remember their pinpointed Journey lyric? First, "Break those chains that bind you," then "Every bond you break." See the connection? I am picturing the physical bonds (creeping vines) of Vecna's lair, but more so, the psychic bonds between him and his victims, which Eleven and her gang (and even Hopper and Joyce) - all together - combine to "break." Eleven, with the help of her friends, even manages to "break the bonds" both physical and emotional with Papa and her crippling memories from the lab, while Hopper and Joyce are able to "break" the physical bonds of wrongful incarceration in a Siberian gulag.
One of the great lyrics of the Journey song is: "If he ever hurts you, true love won't desert you." It's cool that the song which plays as Lucas and Sam are together comes so true as Vecna ultimately does in fact *hurt* her, and Lucas, as the lyric promises, fights Jason to protect her, holds her in his arms as she dies, and stays by her side through her later coma. "True love won't desert you!" indeed!
So much respect to the Duffer Brothers who put such richness into their work that they go this deep to provide so many hidden clues, easter eggs and in-jokes. Hat's off, gentlemen!

Another secret that I think is being missed, is Vecna talking to El is closely mirroring how Vader talked to Luke in ESB. Vecna was talking about El not realizing her true potential and asking her to join him. Guess what Vader also said to Luke? "You do not yet realize your importance. You have only begun to discover your power. Join me and I will complete your training. With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict and bring order to the galaxy". That sounds a lot like the dialogue between Vecna and El, and in ESB, that's where Vader revealed to Luke he was his father. Guess what we don't know yet? Who El's father is. That's obviously just a theory, but it's still really interesting how it's so similar to the buildup to the plot twist in ESB. I can't wait for season 5.
I got that theory from someone else, and I must say, there's a lot of legitimacy to it.

This might be a bit of a stretch but Matthew Modine was in Kubrick Full Metal Jacket and in a helicopter scene where they were going to war zone in Vietnam and one of the other Marines was shooting people and the Matthew Modine character asked how can you shoot women and children and the sniper said he don’t lead them as much. Well then Matthew Modine who is now carrying Eleven and the guy in the chopper was trying to shoot them couldn’t get clear hit and the other guy told him not to lead him as much.

6:27 she also says “crit hit” because melee attack on a downed enemy have advantage (I.e. critical hits) in D&D
And yes it is also a call back to the game winning crit earlier in the season

I would actually say since the show is all about the 80's...that part is similar to Predator when Arnold is trying to lure him into a trap at the end of the movie

Go back to season 1 when Will first gets abducted. It's actually not the Deomgorgon, but Vecna himself. Indicators are that it's left hand is bigger than the right, and Demogorgon's don't have the psychic abilities to unlock doors like it did when he went after Will in his house.

The Nothing from The Never Ending Story is seen at the very end when the land becomes grey and dead. Never Ending Story is referenced in the song between Dustin and Suzie, and it becomes clear this will play a part in Stranger Things 5 as the Upside Down bleeds into the real world. The Nothing looks like a storm, much like the particles look like when Hopper sees it in Russia.
I have a theory-
I think max is hiding in her memory….the skating memory… it was not necessary to show us that and it felt a little out of place and yet they showed it to us… so I think she is hiding from Vecna in that memory…also in the end of season 2 the mindflayer was shown in the upside down during the snow ball dance….which means vecna knew about that memory and hence it was easier to find her but vecna does not know about max’s skating memory….not sure if its possible…its just a theory….and maybe be in the next season el will have to go find her and I think max definitely will know something about vecna that will help the gang to fight him…
yes! because her skating memory wasn't in Hawkins, it was in California. Also, when Will was in california he couldn't feel the mind flayer, and now that he's back in hawkins, he can feel it again. hmm
She may also be trapped in that memory. Eleven may have to break into Vecna’s mind and seek out that memory to release her.

All these are good; I thought it was just a happy memory of her skating (maybe for the first time) & then I wondered if the older boy who picks on Max (when he says “shouldn’t you be playing with dolls?”) could’ve been young Billy? I mean, Max would tell anyone to bag their face, but still 👩🏻🦰🛹

i guess this is some kind of an easter egg because when lucas was throwing up after his party jason said something along the lines of your first hangover makes you feel like youve been split in two and i think that is supposed to link to his death

The reference that jumped out at me was the scene where Vecna sees Eleven in Mac's snow hall memory and he exclaims "You!" . It was very reminiscent of the moment in Dream Warriors when Hristen is in her dream being attacked by the Freddy Snake. Heather goes into the dream to help and when Freddy sees her he also exclaims "You!" . I know it's small but for me it was huge. Dream Warriors is an all time favourite of mine.

The clock tower isn't the important part, the building is the library and that's where the demogorgan took barb and the other victims in season 1

When Eleven lost her powers in season 3 she sort of trained to get them back/resurface them.. but Vecna said he took her powers to be able to create portals/gates just like how she did to him back at the lab when he was sent to that other universe. Does this mean Vecna had taken the power to create gates completely? Is Eleven able to take his powers like Vecna did to Eleven? If she did take his powers, would he be able to resurface/get them back? .. So. Many. Questions. ..
Alternate dimension nightmare villain saying, "Nancy! Nancy!" deserves a Freddy Krueger reference of its own. That, and her remote resemblance to Nancy from NOES. And her having final girl vibes.

There’s the obvious Freddy Krueger vibes that Vecna gives off, but Robert Englund plays his dad, and Englund’s character is associated with the song “Dream a Little Dream of Me”, a further reference to Krueger and how he enters dreams.
Who else teared up when Vecna was breaking Max & 11 couldn't stop him ?.
And Lucas couldn’t, either!

The shot of the protagonists in the field near the end of the season finale is very reminiscent of the last shot of the protagonists in The Empire Strikes Back.
I haven't seen anyone mention in easter egg videos about the RV in Stranger Things being the same kind of Winnebago that was in Escape to Witch Mountain. Seems most have missed that....

RVs were big in the 70’s Captain Marvel US TV series, and in the movies Race with the Devil and The Hills Have Eyes.
The door to Vecnas house has a stained glass rose. Like the door from the Cotton family’s house in Hellraiser.
Haven’t seen many people pick up on that yet.

This season had 'IT', 'A Nightmare on Elm Street,' 'The Thing,' and also 'Halloween.' I love the homage to shooting Vecna like Dr. Loomis shoots Michael off that balcony.
It's also like the setup movie for the ending of a trilogy, or saga. You mentioned Empire Strikes Back. There's also "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" type elements. The ending scene reminds me of where 'Gandalf' says, "The battle for Helm's Deep is over. The Battle for Middle Earth is about to begin."
And then there's "Avengers: Infinity War" vibes. Especially when Max was dying in Lucas' arms and saying, "I'm so scared. I'm not ready to die."
That was eerily reminiscent of Spider-Man saying *basically the same thing when he died in Tony's arms. And the famous words of Dr. Strange: "We're in the Endgame now." It definitely hits the marks of this being the beginning of the end of the story for our beloved Hawkins gang.

I love how they actually gave every main character's (the four boys - Mike, Will, Lucas and Dustin) siblings enough spotlight to make them eventual main characters too. And because Dustin was the only single child they introduced Eddie and so prominently displayed their brotherhood. Well yes Steve is also like Dustins brother but he's more like a mama-bear-communal+babysitter.

Havent see anyone talk about the entire scene at the end of the finale where Mike talking to L while she was in the tub at the pizzeria. This mimics the end of the original Matrix when trinity is talking to Neo as hes dying against agent Smith. Telling him to keep fighting and using love to give him a second wind.
Blair Brown similarly rescues William Hurt in Altered States, in which similar tanks facilitated connection to previous points in evolution, among other things.
It’s also similar to Bruce Willis talking to Leeloo in The Fifth Element.
This is the best one of these yet!! 💯 I've seen a few of these and they're all basic, this one has some real stand out (Easter eggs)!!! I guess it does pay to take your time and not rush out content 😅

@ Vince Gay in the GQ interview with the costume designer (on RUclips) she says Eleven was purposefully mismatched to indicate the trouble she has fitting in, a lack of fashion sense & resources (so she wears hand-me-downs) but this was obvious to me. Whereas there’s no real explanation given for Robin’s wardrobe choices…Maybe they applied the same technique to symbolize Robin’s inner conflict & struggles to fit into 1980’s society as an LGBTQ. I may be giving them too much credit, though 🤭

Eddie is also a reference to the Iron Maiden mascot of the same name which is apparent when he holds up his Iron Maiden cassette and defends it as real music.
Eddie Van Halen, Eddie Vedder and the fictional movie Eddie and the Cruisers also leap to mind.
Also the way Vecna killed his victims in a trance state with creepy claws could be a reference to Freddy Kruger in the Nightmare on Elm street.

As far as the time travel aspects, Nancy also says during Volume 1 when they're in the Upside Down that she believes they're in the past because the guns haven't been purchased yet, and things she'd got rid of were still there in her room at the Upside Down version of the Wheeler house. Additionally, the way Nancy describes the huge monster with the gaping mouth in the scene where she relates the vision Vecna gave her is very like the creatures in the Stephen King novella, The Langoliers. In that story, the creatures literally eat time or "Consume" it. The Duffers are clearly fans of SK's, so some version of the Langoliers creatures seems like a plausible possiblity. I will be impatiently waiting for S5.

There is another reference there which is not exactly an hommage but more of a plagiarism. I guess Mike's roll here ( hope I'm not wrong about the name - L's boyfriend) has a smaller part here so in order to even it out he is said to be the HEART of the group, this is exactly the way Xander in Buffy the Vampire Slayer was portrayed, since by the end of the series all the other actors attained super powers and he did not. But Nicholas Brendon really had a more interesting role in Buffy and was really important. Here it's just away to cover the character flaws

When Henry is transforming into his Vecna form, his left eye is damaged. Similar to Vecna's D&D story. His one large hand is probably a twist on D&D Vecna losing his arm.
Also a refrence to Inception when Eleven is in max's mind and we see Memory within a Memory, just like in Inception Dream within a Dream.
