@bikecrazy001 audio works just like it does natively. i typically output audio to my bluetooth speakers, but I have also used my monitor's built in speaker and my tab's built in speakers. if you use a usbc hub with the monitor, i bet you could also get audio out on a wired audio device.
I remember over a decade ago there was a tablet that had a docking spot on the top back where you'd put your phone. It was essentially this but in a tablet form. Cool idea.
If you do decide to buy the lapdock (link in the description) do NOT FORGET to use that promo code at check out. I think one person forgot 😂 but it literally gets you $60 off.
I mostly pluck my Galaxy tab into my ultrawide monitor. That's usually how I take advantage of it. Sometimes I'll just do screen mirroring if there's a compatibility issue.
If someone needs a computer only for official work. Like e-mail and documentation and excel records, dex is a game changer, specially when you are on the move, combine this with drive and GOOGLE workspace. I can travel any where and just need to carry a small Bluetooth keyboard usbc-HDMI and a HDMI to AV converter and a av wire and boom I can connect to any TV old or new in a hotel. Just a small pouch and this phone. I dont need to spend more on a tab.
I plan to use a new sealed Samsung Tab S9U I just bought for $780 (plus shipping and taxes) in an Ebay auction and a Dexnor keyboard case with the Tab S9+ and S24U I already have to do some DEX work -- once I learn how. I have a 15 inch Lenovo Windows laptop for when and if I must use Windows. I looked atmonitors but wanted 4K which gets about as expensive as my $854 Tab S9U. Thanks for the review.
Oh, I have an idea! Can you make a video comparing between Samsung DeX and Chrome OS? What are the key differences between them in terms of usage and interface? I think Android with a Desktop Mode built-in can easily be an alternative to Chrome OS if they don't need a desktop-class web browser and Linux apps support.
Awesome video as usual. OMG! That trackpad on the right side is absolutly fantastic. Why don't all laptops have that? So much better than in fron of the keyboard. It is always in the way and you can get mis clicks, etc.
Yeah I really do like having it on the side. This trackpad isn't the best though compared to some others I've used. But great placement. It does leave less room at the bottom of the keyboard deck for your palms (along with the wireless charging taking up space). So there's pros and cons. This isn't a review though. Just really showing it off. It's a really nice addition especially since you can get it for like $350 with the promo code. But it's not perfect, but really cool to add to the Samsung lineup
I really want to use dex with my s23 but I dont have the required hardware as of right now. Quick question as well, would it be able to link with a windows pc, or are there compatibility issues?
People sleep on Dex but it is an awesome concept. I suspect though that since Samsung also sells laptops they may never fully unleash it for fear that thier tablets sales would eat into their laptop sales kinda how apple does with the Ipad pros
Even though you are totally right with DEX beeing so great, if you have a Samsung PC (With windows phone), a Samsung tablet and phone, by using Mutli Control between the 3, Dex becomes redundant.
At the end of the day, Dex is just running mobile apps on a larger screen - with varying results. That's fine for light tasks and basic computing. Just don't be fooled into thinking you can replace an actual laptop or workstation with it. You'll be disappointed, and that's not what it's for. Same goes for the ipad version that is similar to this. But if light computing is all you need, you can definitely save some money instead of buying a laptop.
Who told you that? I know they ended support for the surface duo. But as far as their actual Microsoft apps, they make too much money on that. And I've seen no such articles that say that
When I connect my s9 ultra or zfold5 via usb c to a hub with hdmi out , the tablet or phone says external display connected but nothing comes on the external display.. Any ideas?
$60 off bro. It's about $350. Portable monitor. Keyboard, touchpad, sd card slot and ports. Again this was sponsored (I'll give a full detailed thoughts of the Lapdock in another video) but it's not terrible!
why man why?????????? why dont you just buy and use laptop ? why you need to buy a lapdock to connect phone and then use the minimal amount of productivity compare to a laptop. why man? just buy a thin laptop
A lot of reasons. For one, every time you upgrade your phone, you lapdock will get more and more powerful. Which can cut out the need to replace a laptop every year. Secondly, All of the files and footage from your phone, all the history from your phone, everything you do on a daily basis on your phone, it transfers right to the lapdock. So if you record video, it already shows up. No need to transfer files. After the coupon code, you'll probably pay about $350 or so for this. The laptops with that price are pretty terrible anyway. Some of them might not even have a 1080p screen and they're not going to be powerful enough to run crazy good Windows applications anyway. Why not just get a really good accessory for your phone that you could use for a Nintendo switch, or other devices? And again some people just prefer Android. There's a lot of reasons to get it. Or to get other alternatives
I replaced my PC with a tab s8+ a couple years ago and it's still going strong. Easily replaced my other computers because of dex
That's awesome. It helps so much to have that extra interface
How do you get audio out.?

It’s actually possible to use a windows or linux emulator on adroid. It may require a reasonable amount of ram though
Winlator works well.

For sure
Motorola
Razer too..
I really crave those things but.. they can't be compatible with all phones so-
The Asus Padfone. I had one back in the day. I loved it so much.

Yeah it's great if you just have a monitor on your desk. That's what I often do

Sounds like a good plan!

Not a bad idea! I've got my plate full but I'll take into consideration

I really wish DeX would allow you to swap displays. I want the DeX desktop on the tablet and the normal tab UI on the HDMI screen.
That would be an awesome feature
Nice device. That's game changing for some people.
It's not for everyone. But it's pretty cool!
I really want to use dex with my s23 but I dont have the required hardware as of right now.
Quick question as well, would it be able to link with a windows pc, or are there compatibility issues?
It can run on PCs and laptops, but there may be occasional delays. That's why the best way is to connect to a monitor or TV.
People sleep on Dex but it is an awesome concept. I suspect though that since Samsung also sells laptops they may never fully unleash it for fear that thier tablets sales would eat into their laptop sales kinda how apple does with the Ipad pros
For real! DeX is amazing
DeX is even better with desktop monitor, keyboard, and mouse. :)
Oh for sure. It helps a lot

Well yeah. In that sense it can replace a laptop though. It replaces a laptop for those who have basic needs essentially
@@AndroidDigest ... yup. Depends on your needs. Not for me, but I'm sure some people would enjoy it.
FYI Microsoft is going to end support for the Android version of it's Office Apps

Drake is that you?
Thank you 😂. I have been called the white drake
@@AndroidDigest so you rap bro? Haha
Great vid!
Thanks so much. It means a ton

Im trying to use my samsung phone to my samsung galaxy 9 tablet
When I connect my s9 ultra or zfold5 via usb c to a hub with hdmi out , the tablet or phone says external display connected but nothing comes on the external display.. Any ideas?
Have you went to Samsung Dex in the settings and turned on classic dex?
I REALLY wish DEX was on the flip series.
Me too! I don't get it. It's on the S6 Lite. Why not that flip?
Why wont my bluetooth logitech keyboard stay connected to my s9ultra. Drives me crazy. I reinstall it every time i need it
I hope someone can help you figure that out. May be a keyboard issue
Kids who grew up with their parent's iPhones and Android phones don't want to use Windows PCs.
Very good point
400usd ? 🤣 makes no sense. 250usd /eur is max what it's worth ( I mean 15' model)

Shilling for a laptop.

@@NONAME-nu7js Exactly, like.. some of the new phones r powerful, and you have the storage and everything right on the phone :)

Samsung galaxy s24 ultra with a lapdock is more powerful than most laptops in the market.
I need something direct from the source, If I make a video by using a phone, I need to edit thats video directly in the bigger screen
