    Factory certified Ford Technician here.
You can AVOID disconnecting the transmission lines by removing the cooling fan.
Anyone trying to do this at home should avoid losing trans fluid at all costs.

Just accomplished this and a water pump change.Your detailed instructions and clear video were essential for a relatively easy job! Especially your hints for the transmission cooler lines.
    Thanks!

Great video guys, but one criticism: when you go from one ultra close up shot to another ultra close up shot - us guys who don't know what we are doing may not even know where to begin looking. An occasional shot from further out showing the engine bay would be helpful.

Thanks for this very detailed video. I just replaced my radiator in my 2005 Explorer with a TRQ unit. Perfect fit, all went well. For some reason the heads on the push pins for the lower plastic shroud being removed at 14:00 were gone already (first time rad replacement). It was necessary to use a punch to knock out the pin bodies and replace with 1/4 inch sheet metal screws I had on hand on reassembly. Probably could have bought new pins at the auto store though. So just a minor tip, especially if you have no other transportation.

Mine takes 16.3 quarts. As I put the coolant in the reservoir it overflowed at only ten quarts. Wish I knew this before hand and not wasted it. Hope this informs the next one not to do what I did.

I found not quite enough space to remove and reinstall radiator in my '02 explorer ... i rented the fan clutch removal tool and found it much easier after the fan was removed. also found a 6" piece of hose looped onto the transmission cooler nipples would have contained the mess when transmission fluid drained out of the cooler during reassembly.

I absolutely could not get the stupid thing back in the car, had to saw off 1/2 an inch off one of the radiator support tabs to get it back in and even then it was a battle. still had 1 1/4 inches sitting on the radiator support afterword, so it worked fine. I do have the dreaded "early production" 02's though.
