- The Santa Monica West Coaster (also known as The West Coaster) is a steel roller coaster located in Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, California. The ride was manufactured by D. H. Morgan Manufacturing, and opened on May 25, 1996.
After leaving the station, riders instantly start climbing the lift hill. After a little dip in the track, riders go through 2 helices and go into 2 quick bunny hops. Riders then go through 2 more helices before entering the station.
The ride has made numerous appearances in modern media, and is commonly used as an establishing shot for the Los Angeles area.
The coaster, along with the entire Santa Monica Pier as a whole, were parodied in the 2013 video game, Grand Theft Auto V. In the game, the roller coaster is called The Leviathan.
It was unclear what the theme of the ride was before the park closing, but as of 2021, the ride has a "Route-66" theme, with road signs and gas pumps inside the station, with new trains by Chance Rides that are themed to a 57' Chevy Roadster.

Now if only they’d make this ride as fast as they do in gta

I live in Massachusetts and I went to California to see my pen pal. When we were returning we stopped at LA to see this park. I went on this thing and its is a rlly nice coaster. I made friends with the funny guy next to me. I will never forget.
GTA V’s graphics just get better and better.
It feels weird watching a POV of this coaster right after playing GTA. I went to the top of this coaster, took out my sniper rifle, used the exploding ammo cheat code, and blasted people to shreds.
@@coasternerd6978 100%. I did that a few times too. In fact, that’s how I completed part of the last mission. I was on the top of the coaster and I sniped that dude down easy.
Trevor Philips eh?

they won't tell you this but this ride actually offers some decent floater in the back
It actually gave me an ejector pop in the back!
@@danielwormald4666 same, I flew out of my seat

I might have rode this when I was little, I was scared. But since I rode this on April 9, 2022 I was brave.
This cost to ride is 11 dollars
Giant dipper in santa cruz cost 8 dollars but is more scarier, more fun and lasts longer
Yes, Giant Dipper is far superior to this ride, which is essentially just two slow helixes.
having now both done this in gta 5 and in real life, this was a fun experience and i hope to go back to LA soon
Clever West "Coast" er
Hi again
@@SadlerStudios Hi
I just rode this ride like 10 minutes ago, and it’s a lot more intense than you think…
LA locals may warn tourists to stay off this pier at all costs but a credit is a credit and I’m gonna ride it if I go to LA.
Wish Pacific Park would build a Gerstlauer Eurofighter Coaster that would be great wouldn't it?
I went on this ride... in GTA 5. Never been to LA
I have ridden this ride in GTA5 😂
ngl i kinda liked the old west coaster trains
I've taken dumps that were more exciting that this ride.
West Coaster Park 14
Just like gta
That is not worth $15.
kinda underwhelming ngl
