Gameplay de Heretic, el shooter de Raven Software de 1994. Lo de Fully Remastered, es el nombre que le he dado a esta versión del juego (no es que sea oficial ni nada de eso), y que he creado a mi gusto a partir de varios mods y las configuraciones que he hecho. Características:
-Heretic HD PBR v1.2: es es el mod base, viene con texturas de materiales PBR, que les da relieve. Viene GZDoom incluido.

-Reshade: viene con el mod anterior, pero yo lo he cambiado a mi gusto trasteando con mis escasos conocimientos de esta herramienta.
-Heretic Neural Texture Pack: para sprites, armas y enemigos en HD (como el de mi vídeo de hace unos años). Creo que esto se carga las texturas originales del mod de arriba, pero me da un poco igual, las texturas se ven muy bien igualmente, y no puedo pasar sin los sprites HD que proporciona este excelente mod. EDITO: averigüé que se puede descomprimir el archivo de las texturas y eliminarlas, pero la verdad es que prefiero tal y como está (las del mod HD oscurecen bastante el juego), supongo que son las propias texturas Neural con el relieve aplicado, pero quedan bien, y es que esas texturas son excelentes.

GZDoom lo he configurado con oclusión ambiental en detalle medio, AAx8, efectos de sombras para las luces, he cambiado la interfaz y el mapa, etc. En fin, el resultado es lo que veis en el vídeo. Hay quien dirá que es excesivo, y sí lo es, pero bueno, creo que no ha quedado tan mal XD Cada uno puede ponerlo a su gusto, parte de la diversión es configurarlo.
Por cierto, sí, el juego me da tirones como se ve en el vídeo, no sé por qué, si es mala optimización de GZDoom, o es que mi PC de hace 8 años ya no da para más (probablemente sea esto), aunque por memoria RAM y de vídeo no creo que sea.
Por otro lado, youtube me ha comprimido mucho el vídeo, pero en fin...

This was such an incredible game.. used to play this, doom, duke, hexen, quake, unreal, unreal tournament with my dad. Some of the absolute best memories I have from my childhood. Thank you for uploading this. Looks amazing.

This game was definitely a part of my childhood PC game favorites. SNES and Playstation 1 & Nintendo 64 were also the other parts of my life as a young gamer. Despite how good games look these days, the nostalgia will never fade when seeing these classics.
This is rad! I always loved this game. I've played it counties times and now I have an excuse to do it again.

I'm glad you like it, enjoy it ;) Although I wouldn't say it's my work, much of the credit goes to those who made the mods. @@DARTHVRNET Thanks a lot, I installed it but still cannot configure it properly, the movement is completely erratic (always looks up), I guess I am missing something on the setup.
@@DaveChCprolly too late but these games used the home and end keys for look around and movement maybe try to map them differently? Also the ps4 controller has an adapter that adds 2 buttons on the back if that helps
@@DaveChC You may either emulate the XBox controller (with DS4Windows or Steam) or emulate the PS4 controller and modify the controller settings in the game as follows: 1st: Strafing, 2nd: Moving Forward, 3rd: None, 4th: None, 5th: Looking Up/Down, 6th: Turning

La música del juego es simplemente exquisita.
Xeotroid has remixes available for Heretic, Hexen, and all the classic Doom games. There's also the SC-55 Music Packs which sound very good. And a Hexen Remastered Soundtrack floating around somewhere. I think the last one may have been lost by the internet (last time I checked I wasn't able to download it), but I have it stashed away somewhere :P

Props for the effort to whomever made this, but I think there is nothing wrong with the original graphics. The graphical fidelity doesn't make a game better, the art direction does, and heretic has a great one.
I remember playing this game back in 1998. This game used to scare the shit out of me.

My favourite Raven shooter. The Sounds gave me chills back then. The big white skulls and the minotaur could be heard from afar. Wish there would be a new version.
Wow, excelente tu remasterización, me quito el sombrero, estaba a punto de hacer un gameplay de heretic en streaming, y lo hare con tu mod, quede muy satisfecho con lo que hiciste, imagino que la textura que tienes en el video es por la RTX? ya que instale el juego y corre genial, pero no es la misma textura, igual es un gran aporte, muchísimas gracias por remasterizar un clásico de mi infancia.

Me encanta lo bien que has utilizado la palabra "remastered" porque has mantenido el aspecto y gameplay original pero mejorando a nivel visual lo que ya había sin hacer que el juego pierda su verdadera esencia original.
Muchos videos de internet tratan la remasterización utilizando mods demasiado invasivos: es decir que cambian demasiado el aspecto de las texturas o sonidos, por no hablar del propio gameplay. Estos mods hacen una reinterpretación propia del material original del juego, que por una parte eso está muy bien, pero que al final, con o sin darse cuenta, terminan alejados de lo que significa el término remasterizar.
Pero eso no ha ocurrido en tu caso y te has mantenido fiel a este concepto así que has hecho un trabajo impresionante. Se nota que lo has cuidado al milímetro :O
Gracias por tu comentario. Sí, solo buscaba remasterizar el aspecto audiovisual (y que se mantuviera fiel) sin tocar el de la jugabilidad. Sin embargo, quiero dejar claro una vez más que yo no he hecho ninguno de esos mods, simplemente los he seleccionado y juntado.
Recuerdo que lo jugué en la secundaria allá por 2006 sin querer en una PC del colegio alguien lo instaló y todos cuando entrabamos a clases de computación, nos poníamos a jugar en los ratos libres. Que épocas jajaja

What's with the silly trend of making everything shiny in remastered old games? These levels are made to be dirty, you can't have a shiny floor in an old temple!

Bueno, el mérito es de los que han hecho el mod, yo solo los he combinado.
Sobre lo de jugarlo en un Mac, no te sabría decir porque nunca he usado uno, siempre he tenido PC con Windows (o MS-DOS en el pasado).
This looks pretty cool. The brightness and reflections are a bit overkill, but overall it's very impressive.
agree, its like the modders hired cleaners and polishers to spend weeks with machines rubbing and waxing the surfaces like a NASA telescope mirror. Most of the surfaces should be filthy, grimy.

La verdad es que esa arma es de las peores en un shooter clásico, personalmente prefiero no usarla a no ser que me quede sin munición en las demás.

este juego merece un remake como el doom 2016, o wolfenstein the new collosus, osea hoy en dia son pocos los juegos que abarcan la fantasia oscura y la espada y hechiceria, ademas la historia de heretic y hexen tiene las bases para un lore profundo y bien hecho

wow looks stunning seeing it look like this back when i played it it was looking like old doom game sprites and can't see what was what lol As i cant remember how this game looked but has this been remastered faithfully with the modded textures updated or has it changed from the original in other words thing's been changed so much it doesn't look like the original

En el momento de grabar el vídeo tenía un i7 4770K, 16GB de RAM y una GTX 1080. Del Hexen ya tengo un vídeo similar a este ;)
It was painful to watch you wasting mace ammo on mummies... ) RAVEN were intending the crossbow to be the main weapon of choice because of doom-based mechanics. Also wizard skulls are easier to be dealt with by the mace.

This is kinda like Hexen 0. It’s more of a straight doom clone, the weapons are all mostly kind of analogues for the doom arsenal. But Raven developed both. I’m pretty sure the full title of Hexen is Hexen: beyond heretic.
Hexen is part of the same series as Heretic. The game is actually called Hexen Beyond Heretic.

Saludos desde Venezuela amigo, gracias por compartir estas modificaciones de uno de mis videojuegos favoritos de toda la vida junto con DOOM, procedi a descargarlo e instalarlo y corre bien en mi PC, queria hacerte dos consultas:
1- como hago para activar la descarga Heretic Neural Texture Pack? debo poner esos archivos en una carpeta en particular del juego? sustituyen a algun archivo?. La misma duda tengo con Heretic Music Ramaster by Xeotroid, veo que hay varios formatos de archivos para la descarga
2- Cual es la configuracion de hardware de la PC donde corriste el juego al momento de grabar el video?
Espero tu valiosa ayuda para disfrutar bien de este clasico, me suscribi y le di like al video, muchas gracias de antemano
Hola, gracias por la suscripción y el like. Los mods con GZDoom suelen funcionar simplemente arrastrando la carpeta o archivo (y muchas veces también comprimidos) hasta GZDoom.exe. Sobre la música, puedes usar tanto .pk3 como .wad, para GZDoom suele dar lo mismo. No recuerdo cual usé yo específicamente. Por cierto, no sé si has visto que en la descripción dejé el juego ya preparado (solo hay que añadir el archivo heretic.wad).
El PC con el que grabé el vídeo (que no es el que tengo actualmente, mucho más moderno) fue con un i7 4770K, GTX 1080 y 16 GB de RAM.

Amid Evil was great but its more like Hexen and I want something like Heretic but....modern?
Graven definitely uses some elements but the combat is a bit slower vs heretic/doom. Still looks promising

My favourite before 1st Quake came out. I used to smash Hexen for hours and then came back to the Heretic. Loved Doom but was too square and all H games had better atmosphere.

To much lighting i recall seeing Heretic as a medival magic version of Doom with a bit of color but it had that same dark and grey lighting just like Doom. The rest is perfect this is how a fully remastered version of Heretic will look if Raven actually care about this franchise.
I like the added lighting, although it's true that sometimes is too much, especially with the particles. But still I think it looks good.

You can buy the original version of Heretic from Steam or GOG. I don't have Steam Deck so I can't tell you if this or the original game are playable on it.

for the game stuttering problem you're facing, try turn on the 'Precache GL textures' under Display -> Textures option. it works for me. I'm using gzdoom 4.8.2

Why everything on those mods, engines and stuff that do stuff "better" always looks like everything is wet, metalic, like glass or crystal, shining like some oil poured everywhere? I never seen a stone floor to shine like that from a fire on a torch!
Maybe D'Sparil ordered to wax the walls and floor in his domains. I would.
That's parallax mapping mods. Looks like shit. Like everything is covered with a thick layer of wax. Why 90% of people recording Heretic/Hexen videos use this shit is beyond me. Same goes for all this Hexen mods turning the game into some kind of RPG instead of FPS. Upscaled weapon sprites are really great though.
it gives it a cartoony look in contrast to a realistic ine which i feel preserves the artstyle of the game even though i personally feel a realistic texture in place whould be better
A lack of experience and confidence. When people try to get into graphics programming, they often try to impress by adding glow and normal maps to everything but it just looks lame and amateurish. Mastery is about understanding that less is more and focusing on quality versus quantity
