    "Kara" is not our next game. It's not the character, it's not the world, it's not the story... . That's a part of the DNA of the studio." tells David Cage.
    So what is Kara ? As far as we know, it can look after house, do the cooking, mind the kids, organise your appointments, speak 300 langages, and remain entirely at your disposal as a sexual partner...

    I love how at the end he says "My god..." He knows exactly what he just witnessed, and that it may very well be the most important moment in human history. Or who knows, maybe it's got a double meaning, given how people view the power of AI.
    Either way, this is a phenomenal little video.

      RADIOACTIVEBUNY Or, the point was to create sentience, and 'I'm scared' was the code word to mark success. The 'My god' could very well been because he never thought it was going to be possible.

      ***** LOL what are you 12? Internet Tough Guy, you are the one that needs to grow up. It clearly shows you get bullied and picked on and I feel sorry for you, but really think about your words in the future. One day you will say the wrong thing to someone even more angry than you and they might not respond with words... So you can either change your attitude or continue with your ranting and let Karma catch up with you!

      Cool, and how does calling someone a faggot relate me me being bullied. I just think it's a bit pathetic crying, i can understand feeling sad but crying over something that is fake plus its a robot which hasn't experienced life, I never said it pissed me off. I'm pretty sure I haven't been "owned" nor need to be educated because I'm pretty sure I'm studying maths is college so stfu and don't judge someone before you know them. I wasn't bullied nor uneducated.

    Seeing all these old comments from 9-8 years ago...........
    This prototype/short film became a video game. "Detroit: Become Human", released in 2018. I remember when this first dropped on RUclips in 2012, and I thought it was such a brilliant idea, and I waited 6 years for it to finally come out. Great game, one of my favorites. The actress who plays "Kara" is also in the video game as well, and you even get to play as her!

    japan's point of view of robots is that one day they will be no different from humans and will live with us peacefully. the U.S's view is one day robots will see humans as obsolete and that they will "discontinue" us and take over. it's really something to think about especially with how advance robots are today........... only time will tell.

      BETAsatchel a long time ago i was sad at the time i was living in and would have preferd to live in the past or the future
      the early cold war times while terrifying where interesting and had a fun view of how their future might be.
      the future of scifi shows and what ifs of the future are very interesting and much more amazing places (some anyway) to live in.
      then i thought about how cool it is for that at our time we are the base of those futures.
      research and advancements in nanotechnology, cybernetics, bionics, quantum computing robotics, ect are all very interesting to read about so its cool to be the base of those futures.
      once i relized that i was much more happy with my current timeline.
      i would still prefer to live in the future though but am happy where i am now lol

    This movie took less then 7 minutes to make me care deeply about a character, much less an android. That's a feet that moives with literal hours to build characters couldn't pull off. That's absolutely amazing story telling. I was literally in tears by the end. I would love to see a story out of her. Movie. Game. I don't care. I want to know what happens to her now that I connected with her so deeply. This was absolutely amazing. Imdb gave it an 8.2 and I can see why.

      ***** I Robot didn't focus on the actual robot it was about Will Smith who became a cyborg. Plus this short is focus on a robotic WOMAN and that is much different than the standard robotic man Pinocchio story. There could be so much other things to talk about in a movie like this like robotic feminism. I bet in this world robotic women are just used as sex objects. What if a robot objects doing any sexual acts? Will they be thrown out for scrap? It seems that this world is robotic version of The Handmaid's Tale. Do the men that buy these robotic women use them for sex to ignore his own wife. How does the wife feel about robotic women? What if Kara gets some female robots to rebel would there be a 4th wave of feminism that appeal to robotic women? There is so much that could be talked about.

    • @TimelordPete
      @TimelordPete 10 лет назад

      true it could be that, though i doubt married men buy sex robots unless they are super unhappy. is that even possible. theres no proof this machine has that kind of design, at least inside, since she's covering up I'm guessing the outside is unnecessarily realistic...
      & it seems that the robots don't think, they do as they are told. she's the only one, so how would she build up a following...
      also its a david cage game, he puts the main female character into shower scenes & rape-esque scenarios in every game. thats why instead of the robot skin turning into clothes, it turns into skin, so the claws can rip the clothes off again.

    • @LighteningXT9
      @LighteningXT9 10 лет назад

      ***** I'm saying maybe she isn't the only one maybe there are some others that act beyond their programming, And she said she could be used as a sexual partner. Have you ever heard of Real Dolls? There are married men that buy these dolls and have sex with them even though they re married. Heck there are men that sleep with blown sex dolls and are married because for them it's just masterbation. The community that have Real Dolls also have they own website where only these dolls porn can be shown and showing an actual woman is forbidden. These men also treat these dolls as human beings that they give their own personality to. This could play a role in Kara's world. This is set in the future it could also be a dystopia. Maybe there is a shortage of actual women so men buy robotic kind and the real women that are actual around are ignored by the perfection of the robotic women. Handmaid's Tale kind of talked about that. Women could reproduce so they got maids that could be fertile to have sex with the husband with the wife had to be in the room and watch. It all talked about women relationships and how they were turned against each other that could be a theme in Kara movie.

    I personally thought this was about conformity... when she thought and spoke differently to the different models "society" didn't like that... so to be accepted she had to conform to feel accepted and say that she will do as she is told...and then at the end you see all the other different models next to her, they all look exactly the same. Basically if you have an opinion of your own, you're "defective". That's my take on it.

    • @jRex918
      @jRex918 10 лет назад

      thats what i thought too; when you look behind all that sci-fi robots-developing-feelings-garble, you'll find that morale at the core of this video; definantly a powerful message and is a reflection off problems going on in our society today

      kitsukage9 definantly, disagreements should be embraced; if somebody doesnt agree with your ideals and opinions and you guys have a debate and argue on different ideals, that should be a good thing! because when people share different ideals and thoughts on a situation, it opens the mind up to new ways of thinking; we should embrace being different, not fitting in and being just like everyone else; being different and being around different people expands the horizons

    What if the whole disassembling part is a test of the models psychological behaviour? That in the face of termination, they experience strong emotion, making the final step into sentient life, as a being that not only thinks and evolves it's own personality, but embraces its mortality?
    A completely life-like, robotic assistant.
    Somebody ends up playing god, and subordinates, like the guy talking here, have to mentally torture the robots, exclaiming that by thinking for themselves, the robot must be flawed.
    By accepting this flaw, but showing fear of their coming disassembly, the robots would be just like humans: Flawed, and fearing death.

    "It can also be argued that DNA is nothing more than a program designed to preserve itself. Life has become more complex in the overwhelming sea of information... and life when organized into species relies upon genes to be its memory system. So man is an individual only because it is intangible memory. That memory cannot be defined, but it defines mankind. The advent of computers and the subsequent accumulation of incalculable data, has given rise to a new system of memory and thought parallel to your own. Humanity has underestimated the consequences of computerization." --Ghost in the Shell, Project 2501 (The Puppet Master)

      I thought it was possibly it's power source, using a liquid based energy source to transfer energy around in a way that far exceeds traditional wires and circuits. And also it makes it seem more natural, as humans are very good at detecting things that aren't quite human. Basically, if it isn't breathing and doesn't have a heart beating, humans will notice that, even if not consciously. They will feel disturbed by it, which wouldn't make it a very good assistant. They'd have to have it copy human responses and slight body stances and movements to make it seem natural, along with breathing and heart beating.

Can you imagine what it would be like to play the game as Kara trying to make your way in the world where no one cares about you or sees you as a person. There are so many metaphors for life in this. Imagine looking at the chaos we take for normal everyday through the eyes of Kara. Huge missed opportunity for Quantic here.

      mclmrtn The only thing that I don't agree with, with regards to your idea, is that most people play video/PC games to escape real life. Can you just imagine how many people would commit suicide if they were to get too involved in a game like that? People would get depressed beyond repair, I think. Besides, dont you think it would end up being like that movie "Gamer"?
      On a different note, her reaction when she is told that she would be a piece of merchandise is gut wrenching, soooo realistic. Maybe a very apt metaphor for what African people thought when they realized why they were captured and hauled of to sail ships...

    • @mclmrtn
      @mclmrtn 10 лет назад +5

      Honestly, if people are going to kill themselves over a story then they've obviously got a mental imbalance of some kind. I think for most normal and well adjusted people, experiencing something like that would be eye-opening.

    • @francoisgrobbelaar8821
      @francoisgrobbelaar8821 10 лет назад +1

      I just think that most people play games to escape "real" life, therefore, my inference is that people might become a bit disillusioned or twisted if they only try to escape their own "real" life by experiencing someone/something else's "real" life. But I get your point. It's like trying to blame games for real life violence etc. When I was younger I killed many German soldiers in castle Wolfenstein, perhaps I should go kill me some Germans. Das is gud ya mein her. lol

  • @B33FY2011
    @B33FY2011 10 лет назад +8

    This should be made into a game. To show something like this with so much potential and not do nothing with it is a cock tease this would be an awesome game. It would be the sort of game that would mimic everyday life and as close to real life as you could get in terms of story and the struggle for Kara to be excepted in the real world as a person and not a robot i think it would be one of the best games to come out for years make it make it now someone.
