Hey Jan, sorry for the delay getting back to you. FOr the A6400 I've only used the original battery as I've found it lasts well for my typical shoot durations. The ZV1 is great but battery life is one of it's few weaknesses so I mainly use the original but also got this pack of third party ones too (Amazon associate link: amzn.to/3bnCdWy). They work well for me, slightly less time than the Sony (maybe 5% difference) but far less expensive too. Hope that helps, let me know if you have other Qs and have a great weekend:)
@@dbvares8745 No apology needed. Good to hear the 3rd party ones do the job. I didn't have the balls so bought an additional Sony battery. However I don't require more than two atm anyway.
TS, great to hear from you and thanks so much for the kind words:) I’ll keep on trying and we will see where thing get too haha 🤞Hope you’re doing well and having a great day 💪

Hey Robert, fantastic to hear from you and hope you’re doing well- good health to you too sir:) Thanks for watching as always and have a great weekend 💪👍
Thank you for making this video! Helps with my decision, ZV-1 would be the best fit for me, as this would be the first camera, and anyways much better upgrade than my current setup which is a webcam
Hey Anuj, thanks for checking this out and for the nice comment:) I think you’re going to like the ZV1 a lot - if you’re upgrading from a webcam it’s going to be like upgrading from a wheelbarrow to a BMW 😆 Let me o ow if you have any Qs, especially once you start shooting, and have a great weekend 👍
Thanks so much for this video, this one's really the best out of all other ones. Finally someone compares all details AND I really, really appreciate you mentioning which lens you used while filming inside, the sigma one. Would you say that the sigma 16mm 1.4 is just as good as the regular kit lens wich is also 16mm (well, 16mm-50mm) ?
First I'm glad it helped, second thanks for such nice feedback:) So I'd say the kit lens only really has 3 advantages over the Sigma: 1- It's smaller and lighter 2- It's a zoom lens, so unlike the sigma you can get more than one focal length 3 - it's cheaper But in my opinion the Sigma is a better lens in every other way and one of my personal favourite lenses, especially for studio shots. The kit lens also has OSS built in but I personally don't find it too useful vs the stabilisation on other lenses for the A6400. I'd say the kit lens is a good starter lens with the camera, the Sigma is a great choice for wide aperture, wide angle, lots of bokeh and great image quality. Hope that helps and let me know if you have any questions :)
Thank you so much for this video! I'm obsessed with your content! Very well detailed! Got myself zv1 for our family vlogs, but the stabilisation is doing my heading.
Thanks Chin, I just replied to your other comment on stabilisation - hopefully in a way that helps! Thanks for the kind words and have a lovely weekend:)
Hey BFA, pleasure to hear from you as always. I’d say if you’re mainly vlogging and you feel like your shots are still a bit tight for your taste then the Ulanzi is definitely a great choice. Not super expensive, solid quality and adds a decent amount of width. You may have seen already but if not here’s the detailed review I did on the Ulanzi and Zomei wide lenses: ruclips.net/video/Dg18IDHjFbs/видео.html Hope that helps and have an awesome day 👍
Buying a begginer camera is so hard, unless if I buy a $4k rig I'm always gonna think "well if I return this and spend $200 more..." Ugh, haha. ZV-1 is a great camera for me to learn though! Can't believe how much I've learned. I had a Canon Rebel yearssss ago and when I tried vlogging it suckeddd, I never knew if I was in focus or not, ha
Hey Jacob, it's a minefield for sure - but try not to get too caught up in gear. The analogy I use is like learning and instrument - I'd always suggest someone starts on a $150 guitar and get the basics of technique, understand what they want to to do etc before worrying about all the top end features etc - cameras are the same. You can't go wrong with the ZV-1 IMO and I still love mine having used it to go from beginner to intermediate skill level - it remains v useful and I don't see myself selling for anything except maybe a ZV-2:) Thanks for watching, consider subbing if you enjoyed and have a great weekend!
Hey Yes Vibe, love the positivity of the name:) Glad the vid was helpful and really appreciate the nice feedback too! I have a zv-e10 v a6400 vid planned in the next few weeks. I had t thought about a three way comparison but let me see what I can cover in that other vid and I may well look into it - good suggestion. Armin, thanks so much for the kind words! Really pleased it was helpful:) Thanks for watching, consider subbing if you enjoyed and have an awesome day 👍
Hey Abishek, glad it was helpful:) So the answer depends a bit on your camping plans! The ZV1 will easily fit in a pocket and the screen helps shoots from more different angles, plus the ultra slow motion could be really cool for shooting a campfire or similar:) Having said that if you were willing to invest in some lenses the a6400 could give some great low light results with something like the sigma 16mm f1.4 (ruclips.net/video/vsvR5NJkmKg/видео.html) so that could be nice for evenings. I’d go for the ZV1 unless you know that some of the lens options with the a6400 are going to be important for what you want to shoot. Hope that helps and happy to give other thoughts of you let me know more on what you plan to shoot. Thanks for watching, consider subbing if you enjoyed and have a great day 👍
@@dbvares8745 just subscribed you and thanks for helping me out. I will go for zv1 bcz I just watched your low light video with zv1 and found out low light quality is okay not that bad.
Hey MSP, I've not tried for hours on end but I've done this with no issues for a couple of hours and it worked just fine:) Thanks for watching, consider subbing if you enjoyed and have a great day!
First of all great video. I actually use the GoPro Hero 8 for vlogging at the moment just because the image quality and stabalization is some of the best out there. But it SEVERELY lacks in low light and doesnt have the background blur..... From my understanding with the info you provided. Getting the ZV1 would be the better option. Cheaper & Has the Blur. Id only use it when on a tripod and keep using the gopro when being active :)
Hey Super Dan, thanks for watching and the great question:) From what you describe I think you’re right: for the price and compared to an action cam like the GoPro the ZV1 should do a good job in the areas you mentioned. I did a couple of deep dives that give you and idea of what the camera can do: For bokeh ruclips.net/video/PfDZs2Zkfq0/видео.html For low light ruclips.net/video/sGS17Cy5AOE/видео.html I’m almost your opposite right now: I’m waiting for pandemic restrictions to ease so that I can actually do more activities again then I’ll be looking to add an action cam to my selection 😆 Let me know any questions, consider subbing if you enjoyed and have an awesome weekend 👍
Hi Dave, I am using Sony ZV1 & facing a peculiar issue while recording on 4k 24/30FPS. It is not switching on Face/Eye autofocus (the product showcase is off). When I did a reset, I could use face/eye autofocus on 4k 24/30FPS but today again it's not working. Please throw some light on it.
Hey WM, good to hear from you but sorry to hear about the technical issues. It’s not something I’ve come across before: the only troubleshooting step I can think is to check the face/eye AF outline frame is switch on (menu 1, tab 5, face/eyeAF set). The other thing worth clarifying: is focus still working but just the box isn’t appearing; or if you move is the focus not following you? Depending where we get to it might be one to contact Sony about but hopefully we find a fix one way or another:) 🤞
@@dbvares8745 the focus works but it does not show face / eye focus on. And when I go to menu 1 tab5 it says that it can't get switched on since the shooting format is 4k. Does this not happen with your ZV-1? I am little disappointed.
Hey WM, so my exact set up is as follows: Recording setting is 4k 24p 100m I go to menu 1 tab 5 Focus mode is Continuous AF Focus Area is Wide Within the Face/Eye AF menu I have: Face/Eye Priority turned On Subject Detection Human Right/Left Eye Auto Face/Eye Frame display On Animal eye display On I've just tested and can confirm I get working focus and the face/eye box in every resolution and frame rate except for 120p and product showcase mode (where AF works but you don't get the frame). If your setup is the same on all those settings then I'm not sure what could be the issue and it's one for Sony product support at that point. But fingers crossed there's some little thing above which might fix things. Let me know how you get on and have a great weekend :)
@@dbvares8745 thanks for the detailed reply, I am also having the same setup but getting face/eye autofocus in 1080 p only. Are you on Instagram/Facebook? I will send some snaps of my settings.
Great video. I stream drum lessons and I have a t3i with 3 lenses. Do you recommend me the a6400 over the zv1 for my needs? (I know I will need an adaptor)
Hey Pacman, I’d say either camera should be usable for your lessons: there won’t be much difference in image quality or video options. I haven’t done extensive streaming with either so the thing I suggest you investigate is any overheating issues. I know the zv1 had some overheating when streaming after it first came out but that’s been resolved by updated firmware. The a6400 is a larger body so should allow easier heat dissipation but I can’t say for certain without testing. So yeah either should be Dina and that’s the one area I suggest looking into more closely:) Also-always great to hear from a fellow musician: that’s my original background! Thanks for watching, consider subbing if you enjoyed and have a great day 👍
Hey Tito, thanks for watching:) There is some magnification of background blur when you zoom in with the zv1 but this is part offset by the maximum aperture decreasing to f2.8 when zoomed. I actually did a deep dive on zv1 background blur and bokeh here in case helpful: ruclips.net/video/PfDZs2Zkfq0/видео.html Hope that helps, consider subscribing if you like this sort of content and have a great day 👍
The one big flaw I found with the ZV1 is the built in ND filter isn’t strong enough when shooting 24fps, 1/50 shutter speed in bright daylight. Other than that, it’s a great little camera.
Hey Gas Works: fully agree. The ND is I think around 3 stops so you can certainly have a less choppy shutter or avoid overexposure- but if you want the classic cinematic 1/50 then an extra nd is the way to go! Thanks for watching and the insightful comment and have a great weekend 💪👍
Hey Maggie, thanks for watching and the cool suggestion-it’s now officially on my to do list:) Are you thinking of any situation in particular (vlogging, cinematic, slow motion, low light?) of a general summary of what I use? All suggestions welcome and hope you have an awesome weekend 💪👍
@@dbvares8745 perhaps you can show us the perfect setting set up for filming in a room with regular lighting . I am having trouble finding the perfect setting to film inside, i see you are good with setting in darker rooms :) please and thank you .
That's a cool idea Maggie, I need to have a think on how to cover the topic best given people will have so many set ups, but if I can think of a good explanation for underlying principles then I really like this idea. Can't promise a speedy result but this is definitely on my list now. Have a great weekend:)
Thanks CW, really pleased it helped and really appreciate you watching! Let me k ow if you have any questions, consider subscribing if you like this sort of content and have a great day:) 👍 Oh and finally: which one are you thinking will be right for you? Always interesting to hear people’s use cases!
@@dbvares8745 Yeah it's a thorough video sticked through the end to know everything. I think I am good with all the explanation. Here is my inference from watching correct me If I am worng. 1- In the Zv1 as well I could see noticable shakes while walking and since I mostly walk and record i believe I will end up using Catalyst only. 2- I hope the Zv1 could survive in the stabilization part along with the catalyst for the walking vlogs in steady state stabilization because active would chip off a lot of frame. The main reason why I was watching was that A6400 is pretty much heavy on pocket at this point looking to all the stuffs you have to buy along with gimble. And since as you shared that the picture quality is almost at par I would choose Zv1. I still need you to confirm me on the inference quoted above. If you can.
Really good summary, I think you nailed it:) The only thing I’d add is that catalyst works well but you could also get good results using the ZV1 with a wide angle lens and/or a selfie stick or other grip extension. You can see some examples of wide angle lens or selfie stick plus active stabilisation here: ruclips.net/video/Dg18IDHjFbs/видео.html I also think your conclusion makes perfect sense. The 6400 can be really powerful if you’re willing to invest in lenses but it opens a big price and size difference vs the ZV1. If I could only keep one I’d pick the ZV1. Thanks for the great Qs, welcome on board and have an awesome day 👍

Hey it’s the MP that I really like (rather than the 650 or so where I might take a different view 😆), great to hear from you and many thanks for watching as ever mate. And I think your analysis is spot on - the a6400 can be a nice upgrade on the zv1 but it’s definitely a different cost profile to get the lenses (and maybe heavier duty gimbal etc) to make the most of that larger sensor. I think for photography I might reach a different conclusion but I’m definitely a video first guy:) Stay safe and have a great weekend my friend 💪👍
Hey Street Aktive, sorry for the delay - I spotted you other comment but didn’t have time to track the link I used for the cable! The one I have is below. Hi. Thanks a lot for all your work here. At 6:30 it seems you shoot 4k with eye tracking. But my zv-1 doesn't want to activate eye tracking in 4k. Only in FHD. Any idea ? (I already read the eye tracking chapter in the doc and update firmware to 2.01)

There’s a video on wide angle lenses and how the adapter is used here: ruclips.net/video/Dg18IDHjFbs/видео.html And a video on the adapter itself (if you get it separately-it’s includes with some wide lenses) plus how it works with an ND filter: ruclips.net/video/8II5PMJu5is/видео.html Hope that helps! Great video. And I can breathe a sigh of relief having purchased the ZV-1. Funny, I used to own the a6400 but traded it with MPB for other gear. I do plan on getting another camera specifically for film making. And at the moment I've narrowed it down to the Sony FX3 or the Canon C70. Thanks again for a very useful and informative comparison video.
I'm really happy it helped ATF:) I think both can be great depending on the use case, I love some of the things my A6400 can do when paired with the 18-105mm lens, but I do find myself using the ZV-1 more often and that is what I'd pick if I could only have one. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend:)
@@dbvares8745 Yea, the built in ND is huge, even though it’s only one setting. But it has made many shots look better. Lately, I’m starting to lean towards the Sony FX3. While the C70 has built in NDs, the FX3 comes with two full sized XLR inputs. I’m waiting to hear back on an SBA loan. If I get the larger loan, I might end up with the C70. Lol. So many great choices.
Can you pl guide me. Since I am a fresher I have bought Fuji xt30 recently since it's color in regard with image and video straight out of the camera is good. But there is a heating issue . It cannot record even 13 mins continuously . I wanted to shoot a fitness videos, most probably in studio or sometimes outside. I wanted an easy camera in which I can get good vivid colors. Since there is no record time limit on these cameras I wanted to opt for one of these. Can you guide me acc to my specifications which one should I buy zvi or 6400 ? Is zv1 also produces good vivid color pic and videos straight out of the camera ? If yes then since it's an easy camera, then I would go with it. If no then 6400. Pl guide .
Hey Tushar, thanks for the interesting question. The colour of both the ZV1 and A6400 are quite similar in my experience. This video (and most of my content) used the HLG picture profile and little or no colour grading and I really like the results. There’s a bunch of other profile options too so I’m confident you’ll be able to find something you like. However I have noticed small differences and I think the ZV1 has slightly newer and better colour science which I do prefer over the A6400, so if I had to pick one just on colours straight out of camera I’d pick the zv1. Hope that helps:) Let me know if you have any other questions, consider subscribing if you enjoyed and have a great weekend 👍💪
great vid! thanx a lot - one question: i ordered my a6400 with kitlens some weeks ago, palyed around and couldnt enjoy it much. the kitlens was rattling - which drives me crazy. and to get your videofootage into an imac you need good nerves and a vodoo-priest! now i ordered the zv-1, lets see if it can hold up to my iphone 11 pro... or also goes back again? well, sorry - that wasnt really a question, was it?
Hey Bernd - I love a stream of consciousness as much as a questions - trust me, the amount of editing needed to make me seems concise is significant haha:) Hopefully the transferring footage shouldn't be too bad - just SD card into the slot on the iMac, right? If you're having trouble there I wonder if there's some other issue going on. Hopefully your ZV1 puts a smile on your face - I'm definitely a big fan, but smartphones are very handy and capable in a lot of situations so there's no bad choice, just the best choice for your use. @@dbvares8745 Well I bought Mine Body only and then purchased the 16mm f2.8; then the 3.5-5.6 16-50mm lens, then the Sigma 30mm f1.4 and the newest Lens the Sigma 16mm f1.4 which I'll be doing an unboxing and comparison between the 30mm and 16mm from a beginners POV. That sounds like a really great lens selection man, very nice! I'm a big fan of the Sigma 16mm - reviewed that the other week and, despite having used it for a while, the deep dive made me appreciate how awesome it is. Definitely tempted by the 30 and 56mm Sigma f1.4s now too - some very good value for the quality. Let me know when your comparison is up - sounds interesting:)

Amazing video! I make videos only talking to a still camera (no vlogs). Everyone I’ve talked to have said not to get the ZV-1 as it’s more targeted to people that do vlogs, and not what I do. Although I’ve found it for the price of $625 new, and if I were to get the A6400 it would cost upwards of $1550 with a good lens I would want to use (currently looking at the Sigma 16mm) not to mention cost of tripod, SD card and more. That would take much longer to save up to than the ZV-1 that doesn’t need an extra lens. Would the ZV-1 be a good buy as a FIRST EVER real RUclips camera, or is it worth just biting the bullet and accept that I have to wait maybe a year till I can get the A6400 with gear as a future investment for the channel quality? (Don’t earn a lot of money on RUclips that goes directly to gear saving). A bit lost here, I’d appreciate any help.
Hey Starix, thanks for the great question. It’s easy on YT (and in life) to obsess over small differences in gear. In reality great content is gonna get people’s attention way more than small differences in the shot they’re looking at, especially if the channel isn’t about cameras or visuals etc. For a starter camera especially I think the zv1 is a great choice. There’s enough power and control to learn a good foundation of technique amd plenty of headroom to get more from the camera as you learn more. The only loss in a studio setting is not being able to change lenses for more bokeh, but if you look at some very successful channels they aren’t always using tons of bokeh background blur so I don’t think that should be a big factor. If you’ve found a good deal on the zv1 I’d say go for it: focus on making stuff you’re proud of and learning technique-you can always upgrade later but you likely won’t need to (at least for a decent amount of time). Hope that helps and sorry for my slow reply! @@dbvares8745 I really appreciate the detailed response! I’ve heard about the rumors of a ZV-1 style camera (don’t remember name) with interchangeable e lens at $900. If it’s true it’s either that, or the ZV-1 when it is on sale. I’m gonna check out your video for sure :)
Yeah I’ve heard similar rumours - and would definitely be interested if such a model ends up existing. Always hard to tell with these things 😆 But it sounds like your thought process is solid either way so have fun shooting once you end up buying and let me know what you end up with:)
Hey Peace, thanks for watching! The better choice depends on what sort of things you usually shoot / would like to shoot. I think for vlogging or a good all round option (especially as a first dedicated camera or a very portable second camera) the ZV-1 would be my choice. If you like to invest in different lenses for different looks or want that expansion / customisation option, you want to use major zoom or telephoto lenses etc the A6400 is what I'd suggest (but those things will change the price difference quite a bit). Hey Govardhan, most smartphones have good stabilisation now so I’d say looking for the cameras with the largest sensor will probably be the best route if you want to get closer to a dedicated camera. I know some Huawei models have pretty big sensors so that may be a good place to start and the recent Sony Xperia’s have put a lot of emphasis on camera. The iPhone 12 line can do a decent job from my testing (ruclips.net/video/lZ3msRPd11g/видео.html) and I have no doubt the Samsung’s etc will be solid too. The key question is around the tradeoffs: price, sensor size, how much you need the phone to do as a phone etc. Hopefully that’s helpful as some starting thoughts. If you can refine what you’re after a bit happy to try and add more thoughts. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend:)
@@GovardhanTrending If you watch the comparison videos between the Samsung and the iPhone, there’s been a trend for a while now that the Samsung is a great camera for stills, but the iPhone is miles ahead in video. The Huawei P40 Pro has a massive sensor compared to other smartphones and is probably the best looking phone to clog with, but using the rear camera. Front cam probably has to go to the new iPhone. You pays your money, you takes your choice. If you want to check out the Huawei have a look at Camera Conspiracies channel - he uses it a lot. Just remember, you won’t get Google on it.

My zv1 stops recording after 20 min and it frustrates the hell out of me I bought it to be able to make 1:30 min videos even more It heats up quick. If you want long videos stay away from it.
Hey Pauline, great to hear from you:) I do think sumo wrestlers are underrepresented on cameras, tech and filmmaking channels so I’m simply doing my bit to aid diversity;) As always, appreciate you watching and the nice comment-wishing you an awesome weekend 😊👍
Hey Jim, so for me I’d buy the ZV1 first because I like the portability, stabilisation for vlogging and the low light results (at least vs the kit lens on the a6400). However I did buy the a6400 as well because I wanted that expandability and different looks so I invested over time in various lenses. If I knew I was mainly studio based, wanted lots of different looks and was prepared to invest in lenses I may have skipped the zv1. If I knew I was mainly vlogging I may have skipped the 6400. The ‘right’ answer depends on what your use case is - but hopefully that gives you a bit more insight into mine:) Let me know if I can help with any other questions. Yeah, unfortunately the Sony lineup caps at 4k30 until you start spending very big money (a7s3, fx3 etc). Everything else can shoot 60p or more at 1080 only. If you’re shooting sports or fast moving stuff it might be a deal breaker but I’d say in most settings I don’t really miss 4k60 personally. The more informations I gather, the more I realize what a potent beast the ZV-1 really is. Most probably I shall never become a professional in video or photography and so it will not expose me to the risk of buying a little lense here and there...
Hey Dax, great to hear from you:) And you’re totally right - the Zeiss lens has got to be one of the nicest in a compact like the ZV1 - but what do you think of the quality side by side? Do you see a noticeable difference? Great to hear you thoughts and wishing you a nice weekend 👍

And I would find at times after selling it that some of my more favored shots that I took, were surprisingly from that little powerhouse. Not to mention the video capabilities were unmatched at that time for such a tiny little package. That being said the zv1 is essentially the same camera with upgrades, but minus a flash (which I do miss) and the eyepiece, which I rarely used. But having owned both, the plastic build of the zv1 oddly does make it feel cheaper or of lesser quality. So sometimes I have to remind myself that it's the same camera lol. I still do love my zv1 and have tried to sell it several times (primarily because I now own the a7c) but I keep getting cold feet and end up changing my mind and still have managed to hang on to it to this day with no regrets. There is really something special about this little guy that I can never quite explain in words I feel like lol. It's just such a handy little swiss army photo/video tool that fits in your pocket. There still isn't anything quite like it. And now that they've added the gyro stabe and the new and improved colors, and let's not forget the blazingly fast auto focus that in some ways is actually better than the a7c! It's crazy. Something tells me that, because of the cheaper plasticky build/ feel of the zv1 that it has gotten pretty undervalued or underrated. Which is a shame because it really is an impressive little camera. Oh ya the a7c feels cheap and plasticky too! Lol! Come to think of it. But they both punch way above their weight class imo
Oh ya and if you think about it, you're essentially getting a pocket a7siii with a zeiss 24mm1.8-70mm2.8 zoom lens! Do you have any idea how much that sort of configuration would cost if you bought it all separately? Like five grand! The only real draw back is the one inch sensor! But if you think about everything else you're getting, it's not a terrible compromise. Except for some major low light shots, I can almost guarantee you wouldn't be able to tell the difference if I gave anyone the Pepsi challenge
Dax, what an awesome, insightful, interesting comment 💪 Thanks for sharing and pleasure to read. I also have zv1 and a7c along with the a6400 and I think your analysis is totally right. Personally I’d say keep the zv1 because it’s soooo portable and capable. Mine is the ultimate B cam, quick and easy cam and the close focus means I use it often for product shots and close ups too. It’s genuinely very useful. I’m also a big fan of the a7c. I love how powerful both are in super small form factors - planning a deep dive into the a7c kit lens right now and have been surprised how good it is and how much fun it is to use. I agree about the plastic feel on the zv1, but if that helped them reach the lower price tag it’s probably a worthy tradeoff. The zv1 was my first proper camera for video and has been a gateway drug into shooting Sony so I can see the benefits from a business perspective in a big way. I think until there’s a zv2 I’ll be keeping and getting lots of use from mine, but whether that’s sensible for you will depend on your uses case. They’re both awesome and fun to use:) Thanks for the great chat and have an awesome day 💪
I both fully agree and love the Pepsi challenge reference 😆 The a7s3 is my dream camera for video which might be a reward when I make more money from client work but you’re right it’s really only the sensor size and lens selection, a few more custom buttons etc in exchange for a LOT more cost (including accessories since all your gimbals, cages etc will be more too). I think you mailed it before: the ZV1 and A7C both punch well above their weight and to some degree price. That said I just got the Sony 20m f1.8 for the A7C. Definitely not cheap but wow 🤩 the results are gorgeous! I’ll cover that too when I get the earlier items off my to do list 😆

Do you use original battery packs or is it safe to buy 3rd party batteries?

First I'm glad it helped, second thanks for such nice feedback:) So I'd say the kit lens only really has 3 advantages over the Sigma:
1- It's smaller and lighter
2- It's a zoom lens, so unlike the sigma you can get more than one focal length
3 - it's cheaper
But in my opinion the Sigma is a better lens in every other way and one of my personal favourite lenses, especially for studio shots.

Great video. Is the Ulanzi lens worth buying. I do notice the crop as I use Active stabilisation a lot. I have a stretchy tripod.
Hey BFA, pleasure to hear from you as always. I’d say if you’re mainly vlogging and you feel like your shots are still a bit tight for your taste then the Ulanzi is definitely a great choice. Not super expensive, solid quality and adds a decent amount of width.
You may have seen already but if not here’s the detailed review I did on the Ulanzi and Zomei wide lenses: ruclips.net/video/Dg18IDHjFbs/видео.html

You can't go wrong with the ZV-1 IMO and I still love mine having used it to go from beginner to intermediate skill level - it remains v useful and I don't see myself selling for anything except maybe a ZV-2:)

Watched your video really informative. Which one is good for camping Video?

I did a couple of deep dives that give you and idea of what the camera can do:
For bokeh ruclips.net/video/PfDZs2Zkfq0/видео.html
For low light ruclips.net/video/sGS17Cy5AOE/видео.html
I’m almost your opposite right now: I’m waiting for pandemic restrictions to ease so that I can actually do more activities again then I’ll be looking to add an action cam to my selection 😆

Hey WM, so my exact set up is as follows:
Recording setting is 4k 24p 100m
I go to menu 1 tab 5
Focus mode is Continuous AF
Focus Area is Wide
Within the Face/Eye AF menu I have:
Face/Eye Priority turned On
Subject Detection Human
Right/Left Eye Auto
Face/Eye Frame display On
Animal eye display On
I've just tested and can confirm I get working focus and the face/eye box in every resolution and frame rate except for 120p and product showcase mode (where AF works but you don't get the frame).
@@WanderingMonk Exactly same issue for me.
So yeah either should be Dina and that’s the one area I suggest looking into more closely:)
Also-always great to hear from a fellow musician: that’s my original background!

@@dbvares8745 lol. thanks mate!
the blurred background with the Zv-1 improves so much with the zoom?
Hey Tito, thanks for watching:) There is some magnification of background blur when you zoom in with the zv1 but this is part offset by the maximum aperture decreasing to f2.8 when zoomed.
I actually did a deep dive on zv1 background blur and bokeh here in case helpful: ruclips.net/video/PfDZs2Zkfq0/видео.html

Beautifully shot, great detail & comparisons. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Can you do a video on the setting you put your zv1 in please
Hey Maggie, thanks for watching and the cool suggestion-it’s now officially on my to do list:)

Oh and finally: which one are you thinking will be right for you?
If you can.
Really good summary, I think you nailed it:)
The only thing I’d add is that catalyst works well but you could also get good results using the ZV1 with a wide angle lens and/or a selfie stick or other grip extension.
You can see some examples of wide angle lens or selfie stick plus active stabilisation here: ruclips.net/video/Dg18IDHjFbs/видео.html
I also think your conclusion makes perfect sense.

I think for photography I might reach a different conclusion but I’m definitely a video first guy:)

Hope that helps:)

great vid! thanx a lot - one question: i ordered my a6400 with kitlens some weeks ago, palyed around and couldnt enjoy it much. the kitlens was rattling - which drives me crazy. and to get your videofootage into an imac you need good nerves and a vodoo-priest!
now i ordered the zv-1, lets see if it can hold up to my iphone 11 pro... or also goes back again?
well, sorry - that wasnt really a question, was it?
Hey Bernd - I love a stream of consciousness as much as a questions - trust me, the amount of editing needed to make me seems concise is significant haha:)
Hopefully the transferring footage shouldn't be too bad - just SD card into the slot on the iMac, right? If you're having trouble there I wonder if there's some other issue going on. Hopefully your ZV1 puts a smile on your face - I'm definitely a big fan, but smartphones are very handy and capable in a lot of situations so there's no bad choice, just the best choice for your use.

Real life stuff been hectic recently 😓

Strong choice Arnaud 💪 Thanks for watching, consider subscribing if you like this sort of content and hope you have a great weekend 👍
Please suggest which is better?
Hey Peace, thanks for watching! The better choice depends on what sort of things you usually shoot / would like to shoot.
I think for vlogging or a good all round option (especially as a first dedicated camera or a very portable second camera) the ZV-1 would be my choice.
If you like to invest in different lenses for different looks or want that expansion / customisation option, you want to use major zoom or telephoto lenses etc the A6400 is what I'd suggest (but those things will change the price difference quite a bit).
Hope that helps and happy to give more thoughts if you let me know what you're hoping to use them for:) Consider subscribing if you like this sort of content and have a great day!

Best video vlogging smartphone brother please suggest...?
@@dbvares8745 thanks for your suggest bro
@@hughesy606 Google pixel 4a how is it brother...?
@@GovardhanTrending I had a Pixel 2XL and it was fantastic. But I think Google went for mass market after that, rather than flagship. I’d say it sat below the phones mentioned above, but can’t personally say as I’ve not experienced it
But the description of a6400 hundred shows it is having real time eye af ? And you are saying it is having face af please clearify
Hi HC, great question. The A6400 has eye AF in photo modes only. As soon as you switch to video it’s limited to face AF, and since the video and channel in general is about the videography side that’s what I was talking about:)

I have just discovered your Chennel
Your videos are amazing but you should work on improving your thumbnails
Thanks George’s, appreciate you watching and the kind words. Definitely still on a path to getting better on thumbnails-do you have any examples or pointers you think are particularly attention grabbing?
Thanks and have a great weekend:)
@@dbvares8745 well I was watching the old videos so those the ones that had not so good thumbnails
But seeing the new videos, you definitely got better, a lot.

A6400 any day, and twice on sundays.
Hey Dr Wasim, thanks for watching and strong choice 💪
What sort of things do you normally shoot? I’m interested to know what use cases people have that push them towards one choice vs the other.
@@dbvares8745 Thx for a great comparison! Mostly talking head in controlled environments, but also some family vlogs. It’s the expandability and the versatility of the a6400 that pushes me in that direction. Love telephoto shots from 100mm and upwards.
And thank you for the kind words, highly appreciated:) Yeah I think for that setup it's a clear winner. Those longer focal lengths especially are a no contest and super fun to shoot. P.S. love your humour! Diarrhea hospital, girth, no pun intended hahaha
I'm glad you enjoyed:) I always second guess myself with the humour but I have to stay true to my dumb personality haha:)
@@dbvares8745 That's actually what makes you different from other RUclipsrs who review cameras. I love how you show all the footage and explain in details what's happening. I hate when other dudes just review products for 20 minutes and show 10 seconds of actual footage. Keep your good sense of humor! People will watch your videos because you're funny and not only for reviews 👍🙏
Thanks Teora, really appreciate the nice feedback:) Especially nice that the stuff I deliberately focus on (showing lots of test footage, adding the dumb jokes to keep things entertaining) actually come across to people! Appreciate the positive vibes and hoping you have a great day:)
Nice 1 my friend i only use about 10% of my ZV-1 and i love it lol 😁🙏
Hey UC, great to hear from you and thanks for watching:) Pleased the ZV1 is working well for you too! From the 3 or 4 I’ve seen your videos are already nicely lit and shot with slick edits so 10% of the zv1 is clearly powerful in the right hands 💪 Let me know if you use some ultra slow motion though - I’m a mediocre cook but I think that feature could look amazing with food content!
Have a great weekend 👍

nice
Thank you:)
My zv1 stops recording after 20 min and it frustrates the hell out of me
I bought it to be able to make 1:30 min videos even more
It heats up quick.
If you want long videos stay away from it.
the sumo wrestler hahaha love it the best
Hey Pauline, great to hear from you:) I do think sumo wrestlers are underrepresented on cameras, tech and filmmaking channels so I’m simply doing my bit to aid diversity;)
As always, appreciate you watching and the nice comment-wishing you an awesome weekend 😊👍
Who's the winner according to you? What would you buy?

Wait what? They both can’t Film in 4K 60 FPS???
Yeah, unfortunately the Sony lineup caps at 4k30 until you start spending very big money (a7s3, fx3 etc).
Everything else can shoot 60p or more at 1080 only. If you’re shooting sports or fast moving stuff it might be a deal breaker but I’d say in most settings I don’t really miss 4k60 personally.

@@dbvares8745 ok, thanks !
The more informations I gather, the more I realize what a potent beast the ZV-1 really is. Most probably I shall never become a professional in video or photography and so it will not expose me to the risk of buying a little lense here and there...
Dave, don’t make me buy one! I’ve got money sat here waiting for a 5900X to drop lol
Haha no compulsion required my friend:) And you mean the Ryzen 5900X? If so that’s a beast of a tech purchase and a worthy priority 👍💪
@@dbvares8745 Yup, that’s the one. My poor little 7700K resembles Clint Eastwood - awesome back in the day, now just a bit breathless!
Strong analogy haha:)
The Zv-1 has ZEISS GLASS!!!
@@dbvares8745 well I used to own the rx100v when it first came out.
They’re both awesome and fun to use:)
Thanks for the great chat and have an awesome day 💪
I both fully agree and love the Pepsi challenge reference 😆
The a7s3 is my dream camera for video which might be a reward when I make more money from client work but you’re right it’s really only the sensor size and lens selection, a few more custom buttons etc in exchange for a LOT more cost (including accessories since all your gimbals, cages etc will be more too).
A6400 lot better
