- Here we take a look at my brand new Korth Mongoose 4". This has got to be one of the best guns I have ever owned! This is a long vid so sit back and relax with your favorite snack/beverage.
Jan 2024: Stay tuned for my video on the MANURHIN MR73 . It was such a popular request to talk about a Korth Mongoose v Manurhin MR73 I caved and got me a MR73. Lots and I mean lots to talk about. Vids coming soon.
Note: Range footage was deleted out of this vid. Unfortunately could not keep it in the video. As soon as I understand what is 'ok' will make some "Range Time Short" vids on this gun and many others...
Stay Safe and Check 360 Often!
Thank you for showcasing one of the finest revolvers ever made. It is 1/3 of my revolver holy trinity; the other two being the Colt Single Action Army and the magnificent, Manurhin/Beretta MR73 Gendarmerie.
Must be a 2023 US/UK Patriot lol
same with me dude, just the korth is missing in my collection,...but it will come soon .... want the 44 mag. cheers from germany
Sell ALL your guns and buy all 3. Live in ramen for a year and buy all three
Very good choices esp the SAA.
Colt SAA is a classic, but to me the Big Three are Manhurin, Korth, and Janz-Praezisiontechnik. There are also a few other higher end revolvers, but these to me are the three most well-machined. All that said, I’d be happy with a Colt SAA, Colt Anaconda, and Chiapas Rhino Match Master.
The freakin thing is immaculate. Such a beautiful piece of art. A glorious piece of engineering and machining.
You've Done It Sir. A Revolver Heavy Channel Has The Ultimate Revolver
I was hoping someone would put a detailed vid on a Korth. Awesome
Just bought my first revolver, and I'm really happy with it!
But this Korth is on a whole other level.
It's a work of art!
Congrats to this gun! There is a book on Willi Korth and his developmental steps from model line to model line. He strictly followed a zero compromise policy. Only best materials. Machine pistol steel for the barrel, of course forged frame, ball driven cylinder cavities, and of course the hardening. It was the only gun which had to receive the proofing stamp _before_ the hardening process. After hardening it would just not possible any more to stamp on the proof marks. Every part was hand fitted (like parts of the Python). Modern Korths are CNC. We have a .22 revolver from Willi Korth himself as a general club gun for everyone. Willi Korth developed diabetes and had to leave an active role in about 1982, shortly after releasing series 32xxx of his .357 Magnum line. Of course, the book is in German, but it has a lot of pictures and tables. Have fun!
I have an old 6" sport from the 34xxx series, very very nice wheelgat but the double action on won't always reset properly unless i touch the hammer
i basically only fire it in single action because the 2.2lbs SA is just perfect, besides it's got a wide trigger shoe and one handed target grips anyway
the inside mechanism is actually incredibly simple looking compared to other revolvers, there's just so much empty space and so little going on in there, looks highly efficient
for double action and shooting magnums i have a new MR-73 on order that should be here soonish that will fill that role.
Machine pistol steel and forged frame is already evidence that subpar materials were used.
Congratulations! What a beautiful machine. Now I want one as well.
Thanks a lot! I thought my Dan Wesson Bruin was an expensive addition to my growing collection. This is a superb wheel gun for sure and very easy on the eye...and that's coming from a Snake gun aficionado. I would definitely have to sell more than a few guns to add this to my long wish list.
Congratulations buddy! I'm glad this Mongoose brings you so much joy. You deserve it.
Nice video on one of the finest revolvers ever made, these are truly the Rolex of revolvers. I just picked one up a Mongoose Combat like yours yesterday at a LGS but not quite identical to yours. Mine has a skeletonized hammer and a S&W type cylinder release. My box contained a card with the name of the German gunsmith who built it. After watching your video I now want a set of Nill grips. Thanks for showcasing this little known masterpiece.
Such a beautiful piece of machinery.
I actually find the new ones to be pretty ugly. I even dislike the look of the closed back Nills
That thing is absolutely the end all be all. No doubt.
And I am a dyed in the wool S&W fan, but this is awesome.
If you want only an heirloom target gun safe queen.
Totally one fine revolver, from end to end.
I agree but TONS of MR73 fans beg to differ, LOL. I have to say I do have access to a MR73 with a 4" bbl so I will try to do a comparison vid. I thought about getting one but I honestly like the Mongoose better. We shall see...
Excellent review! Very nice, and very helpful given the lack of honest reviews available for this firearm
I am fortunate to own both the Korth Mongoose and a (Beretta Import) Manurhin MR73... I find myself unable to say one is better than the other outright, but if you break it down, each revolver has its own strong points. Fit/precision the Korth wins, it's truly a "Swiss watch" of revolvers. Finish, the MR73 is stunning, the deepest mirror blue ever made (yes, I am including old Colt Pythons), but the Korth is less prone to scratching.
Accuracy is a dead heat to me...
Trigger is also about equal, but the Manurhin IMO is slightly easier to stage in double action. Plus you can adjust the trigger weight totally independent from the hammer spring thereby no how light the trigger is there are no light primer strikes.
Pedigree the Manurhin has no rival, no contest here
Serious "combat" revolver? Again The Manurhin has no rival
Strength? Once again the Manurhin has no rival
Despite my last there points, it's still a toss up IMO depending on the end users purpose, and that speaks to the meticulous design and manufacturing of the Korth
You are about the first person I have ever heard of that has both of these superb handguns, I wish you could do a video on them side by side. I would love to compare my 686 "One of 500" tuned by the great Bill Davis, its action feels like it's on ball bearings as its been described by others that also owen them. It would be a great shoot out for sure...
In a panic situation & you can only grab one…? I just re-read your comment & Im pretty sure your answer is the MR73.
@@lewisrosen6163 I have thought about doing some RUclips videos of my own (strictly for fun) on these sorts of subjects. Speaking of the 686, I have a dash 2 with a trigger job that is amazing.
@@tomharper8351 Your assumption IS CORRECT ;) The MR73 is a true "combat" revolver, the Korth is a precision masterpiece, though and I'm very confident that it can serious duty also.
A.
I look forward to a comparison with the Manurhin. I love how easily the cylinder can be changed out & with a 9mm cylinder combo this is the most versatile short range ballistic tool period! Cheers
I really love the Korth Mongoose. If I ever land one I’ll quit collecting and happy because I got my Korth 🤞🏼 that’s the story I’ll go with
You'll go with that story until you have one... Then 5... Then when you have 5 of the next brand...
Don`t think I`ve ever seen one but once except for pictures.
Congratulations. That is a beautiful gun. Thank you for sharing.
Well, you've done it. Now I've got to look for one, like I don't have enough stuff. Thanks very much. -_-
Three points of cylinder support and great timing to make that baby perform.
Taurus 692 has 3 point lock up too and looks way better than this overpriced junk
Amazing firearm thanks for the video.
❤ Korth. The best!
ABSOLUTULELY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!! WOW!
I 1st heard about Korth through the Yankee Marshall. He is a big wheel gun guy. Thank you for shatring. Keep the great videos coming, Please! I wouldn't mind watching you clean the gun and talk about the methods and chemicals and equiptment you use. That would great too.
💪💪 also my future gun 💪💪 soooo nice 👍👍
I don't think you'll get too much hate for that opinion. Im a Ruger fan, but Korth is just on another level.
Smith and Colt are on another level from Ruger
@@bobjohnson1633 not really, only vintage models. Ruger’s quality has gone up with their Match Champion and Custom shop guns whereas S&W & Colt have more quality control issues with their modern revolvers. Personally I choose Ruger cuz they’re built like tanks with good weight, accuracy, ergonomics, easy main spring swap, and affordable prices.
what a fantastic revolver !!!!! wow !!!
Thanks for a good and exciting story about your nice Revolver I love German quality hope you make more similar videos in the future 👍🥰🙋🏼♂️🇸🇪
Sweet. Love Korth
Korth is as good as it gets when it comes to revolvers, they are working on their own superior level.
That’s Some Great German Engineering 😀❤️😊 I Love The Korth 😀👍🏼
We at "Sugarbush Armory" in Attica, NY are a Nighthawk Dealer and have had several Korth Revolvers through our Shop... Excellence x9 on these firearms and understand your sentiments!
Manurhin has entered the chat.
Hey good to see a video from you again! That revolver is AWESOME! I can just tell by looking at it how tight and fit everything is, looks like one solid piece of material! I have to look into these now lol. Great video, have a good day
hey man, good to hear from ya! Well I almost rode off into the sunset and called it quits but still here! Will be doing a lot more wheelie vids this year. However last month I thought YT already made the decision to end my ride. I don't know if you got some 'grief' last month on your vids, etc... but i was almost out of here without choice. But it appears they have backed off for some reason. I don't know but I'll stick around until I get kicked out lol.
Wow what a awesome wheel gun!
Yes it really is❤!
I'd love to have one of those for sure!
Really great review man..i won't one!!
Beautiful
You can order the compensator directly from Korth in Germany for around $200 & shipping. It's a very easy on off. I had a 5" Mongoose and did just that.
A magnificent revolver. I have a 4” as well with all three cylinders (357 Magnum, 38 Special, and 9MM). Of all my handguns, this one probably gets the most range time. My groupings are incredible. I also have the 3” 44 Magnum, which can be a bit much on the range unless I am shooting 44 specials. There is just something about loading a revolver that makes it special. Nice review.
I really need to get one of these in my hands. Everyone I’ve ever talked to who has one says it’s far and away the best revolver they’ve ever touched. I just can’t imagine how much nicer it can be than a Python or older Smith but I really hope to get a chance to see for myself eventually.
That's a beautiful piece, I did not expect it to be so expensive but hey good for you man that's great
Beautiful gun
I ordered a used one today, hardly visible wear marks on zoomed in hd pictures. Thanks for the video from Germany
Congratulations! Please let me know how you like it
Beautiful wheelie
if I had the money and the obsession I would def buy a Korth
The nill grip gives just that little bit extra. Korth are great guns
Looks awesome stuff 👌 👍
That's a beautiful wheel gun!
I hate you!!! Now I want this Korth revolver... Great video!
Definitely an outstanding revolver (no disrespect to the Pugnose)!
Pretty Sweet! They have a 2.75” Carry Special that looks nice. 👍👍👍👍
She´s a real beauty ngl
I like that one also. I'm with you on that.
OMG I wish I could afford one of these!!!
It’s beautiful
man i love this revolver i should have bought one instead of king cobra cobra and ruger gp100 i like all those but this one is much nicer thank you
I like what Korth has done with refining on a revolver, however, cost and function. I already have a Mod-686 4 inch and the Korth isn't going to offer me anything but conversation and snob bragging rights. (Please don't take this the wrong way in what I said) the Korth is a crown center piece in quality and craftsmanship. however.. it is about cost and function practicality. peace out -Dave.
Ha, this will be my retirement gun someday. Nice video
Beautiful gun!!! way nicer then my charter arms;)
Lol...! True, but your Charter can fit our budget, this gun never will...I don't envy too much the folks that can afford such nice guns, simply because the bullet can't tell the difference...
I recently shot a Korth .357 revolver. Very nice indeed!
It's a beautiful revolver but I'll have to stay with my Smith and Wesson or Rugers simply because of the price. $4,200 is just way too much for me.
My python dates from 1979 and still has the bluing that makes grown men cry!
The mongoose eats the snake.
Nice unique piece. CA compliant.
not if Newscum has his way....they're proposing another ccw ban...I'm sure the thugs will be as compliant as usual...
It's looks nice
I understand how u feel about this revolver 👍👍 cud u make moore vids about it? 🙂🙂
That is an awesome revolver!
I CHECKED OUT A KORTH COMBAT REVOLVER BACK MIN 1978 AND THEY WERE EXPENSIVE EVEN BACK THEN , BUT REAL NICE GUNS . THE COMBAT MODEL I LOOKED AT HAD A DIFFERENT REAR SIGHT WHICH I LIKED OVER THAT ONE .
Korth is the best❤
Yep, I love my Ruger 357 magnum Blackhawks because it is such a nice gun for the price. That said, I bow to the Korth Mongoose as the best revolver ever made in the past 20 years. If I ever win the lottery I will get one. Until then I will just admire it.
Its not that impressive for that price and yes i can afford one..I like the look of my polished GP100 " 5 " inch better
I really don’t understand all the whining from people saying “ TOo ExPenSive for a REvolver” but pay that for a 1911, so 4,000$ revolver bad. 4,000$ 1911 good.???
I’m quite satisfied with my original Dan Wesson thank you very much at a fifth of the price and I’ll wager just as accurate. That said it’s a mighty purty gun.
Nice revolver. I was wanting one but thhe price point at the time was too much
Want ! My new S&W 19 Carry Comp is quickly showing wear, need a better coating
Interesting...I know someone that has been carrying that specific model for almost 1 year. I'll get in touch with him to ask about the finish. The last I heard he still loves that wheelie!
Awesome review thank you for sharing….range video?
I actually had some very short footage for this vid but decided not to put it in. Long story... Seems like a lot of my range footage doesn't cut it here. No idea... I'll see what I can do as I do want to put up some quick range footage.
Korth Nice.
The mongoose is my favorite my favorite korth just like that one the other models have to much bs going on for a revolver beautiful revolver man
Those grips!!! Those are beautiful! Do you have a video covering the grips? I would like to see some measurements and video close ups of how it fits your hand. I have shot single finger groove hardwood from Hogue for years, but those look like I might need to make a change.
i was looking at the Korth callahan 44 Magnum.....$9,000 personally i like the hunter series but i think its too nice that i would be afraid to use it.
It's a piece of art , hope you do another video shooting it.
I want to but it appears range vids are a no no here. lol. ridiculous... but I will try to get range footage up as soon as I figure out what it is "they" think is a violation
@@TheOl1911 understandable considering RUclips has changed the rules on gun channels again
@@leighmonty13 yeah I already have had a few "Range Time Short..." vids removed!? a few weeks ago, etc... but I'm hearing they are backing off for the time being which is good. But I already got a bunch of vids removed. Ah well we shall see what happens. Thanks for watching my vid!
@@TheOl1911 It seems to be around showing tear downs of guns, mods, silencers and 30 round magazines, well that's what some RUclipsr said and he got 2 strikes one after the other on one of his channels.,I like you do alot of revolvers .
Korth rocks!!
I'm a mgtow man, but she's a keeper !
I wish I had one, sweet ass pistol 👍🏻
Can't be a Python. The cylinder turns the wrong direction. 😊
Great vid! Can you tell me how you cleaned the cylinder face without hurting the finish? Thanks!
I’m always internally debating wether a Korth Mongoose or Manurhin MR73 is the best in terms of revolvers.
Are these along the lines of a Taurus? Lol. If you can afford one why not get the top shelf. Very nice.
You can use one of these in Parasite Eve 2...the only video game I've ever seen this gun in. And it's super powerful.
Nice, are those the standard or XL size grips?
standard size!
The best revolver on earth
I'll bet that the other size screwdiver is inside the handle. It's german made after all.
A truly fine revolver. I'm not denying it.
But why the dull black finish (even if it is a fancy, DLC coating).?
People don't buy revolvers this expensive for their functionality. They buy them for their beauty....their presence....their ability to turn heads and inspire feelings of envy.
A dull, blackened finish is just so understated that it detracts from the revolver's presence and allure.
How about a finely polished stainless steel model? That's the Korth that I'd buy.
Fun review. So you like German cars too? Do you buy new before warranty ends or enjoy working on them? 😂 Car guy observations. Cool revolver! Thanks
I just finished the video and you did a good job but I have more questions. I didn’t hear you talk about the accuracy or performance at the gun range that you shot The gun at? I would like to know how it performed and how the accuracy was. Also you mentioned you like it more than the MR 73, could you please comment as to why? You didn’t say why
I'd like to get a range vid up. However - some issues with my range footage stuff. I'm not sure just yet what it is that is a prob. But I might just go back to the dynamic range and holster up and record some go pro footage. I'll see what I can do...... The MR 73 is a fine revolver and so is the Colt Python 2nd Gen (although not apples to apples) - but the Mongoose appealed to me more. Could have been just looks alone (maybe its the more S&W'ish look to not being blued) as I'm not basing it off reliability. They both seem to have a similar trigger roll in DAO. The MR 73 4" I can borrow for a video but it won't be soon. OR I could possibly obtain one but that would require a lot of "moving stuff around" to get it. The Korth Mongoose appear to be more available than the Manurhin MR 73 though.
@@TheOl1911 thanks for the replies. I certainly appreciate the information even though I don’t know that it helped me very much. These guns cost a lot and it’s a tough decision to make so any bit of information I can get will certainly help aid my decision. I was able to hold the 3 inch in my hand, although just for a few moments, it felt pretty balanced and comfortable to me with the rubber grips. My main concern is that the accuracy will be the same as the 4 inch we’re very close? I’m not looking or expecting for the gun to hit in the bull’s-eye every single shot as I am not a big revolver shooter either, but I would like to think and hope that it would be more accurate than any of my other revolvers. I’m also a little worried about the recoil with a 3 inch barrel. I know there would be recoil with a 4 inch barrel as well, but it would be less with a 4 inch barrel compared to a 3 inch barrel I would think??? I have done a lot of research on this mongoose and there has been a lot of negative reviews and threads out there saying the gun locks up and has issues after just a short amount of rounds fired through it. You didn’t seem to experience any issues after you fired it though so maybe it was just a lemon or maybe it needed to be cleaned. I have heard that you should clean these after every shot especially when shooting 38 Special because it can cause problems and buildup in the cylinders. I just want a revolver where I don’t have to worry about problems, spending this much money you certainly shouldn’t have to worry about anything so that’s why I’m checking in with you.
@@TheOl1911 Any more information that you forgot or that you can let me know I sure would appreciate it. Thank you very much I appreciate it
I might have to sell a few of my guns to get one of these.
If you have enough, why not?
Got wood
Neat revolver. I’m considering picking up one of these. How does the single action compare to the single action of any of our performance center models pull?
....sploosh. Though, personally I want the Manurhin mr73
That is a very nice wheelie as well. I'll try to borrow one for a video (it's a 4" version). It definitely looks good but I guess I just like the Mongoose more. Mainly just cosmetics. I think they both are on par with trigger and accuracy. No idea about the Korth's reliability though but I probably won't shoot as many rounds through it as I have shot through my Hackathorn 1911.
One is about an L frame and one is about a K Frame.
@@bobjohnson1633 whats the difference?
I received two comments in my email box but I know that there from a fake person or a robot because they had a phone number. When you get time, please respond to my other comments as I’m looking at one of these revolvers right now at a local shop and I would like to get my questions answered so I can make an informative decision. Thank you very much
Please review the Korth/nighthawk Skyhawk next l!
I wish LOL. I have no access to one of those.
@@TheOl1911 I’ve never been one to not shoot and even carry high end firearms…but with my current financial situation and the economic outlook I am finding it real difficult to take mine to the range. It’s value has gone up so much. I have one complete with its holster, speed loader, and lube bottle. God I hate this president.
