This duo makes sense to me, and not just because I'm born and raised in Oklahoma. 2 great songwriters, one who's made it to the place that the other one will eventually get to. It really is about the story and the lyrics with these two guys...which is what country music is suppose to be about. Plus, I love how Zach is just "fan boying" over Isbell's guitar playing.
@@marcstein6776 Jason isbell has 5 Grammys, snd numerous other awards. He has been in the business for years, and I’m sure is playing with Zach because they both “want” to. To imply Isbell “needs” the help of sharing an audience is just not the case.
@@TennesseeYaya I am an avid Isbell supporter but he plays to a smaller, older audience. The folks packing Ford Field are there to see Zach Bryan & I think its great Zach feels a responsibility to introduce Isbell to this younger audience. Jason is clearly the more polished, talented performer but Zach largely introduced this authentic, singer songwriter genre to this age group.
However, my daughter loves Jason as well as does my little 4th grade music entrepreneurs. (Teacher here) Makes me happy to see them appreciate Jason’s talents.
Takes balls to have someone who is way more talented than you open for you. Haha. But the genuine admiration was real cute and the performance improved a lot.
Isbell and the 400 Unit are levels better than most artists, including Bryan. There isn't a better Rock / Country / American show out there. Masterclass.
It reminds me of the story about when Penn and Teller were headlining huge shows on a tour and they found out the opener was BB King. They refused to perform after BB and even had the marquee changed. P&T were HUGE and BB was in a rough patch, but they knew what was right. To be fair to Zach, he’s young and he doesnt have the kind of weight to swing around like P&T did. He’s not doing anything wrong here.
There’s really no comparison! Unfortunately most of the white boot/wife beater wearing young’ins that attended still thought Wallen wrote CMU 😉 The testament is - as JI is SHREDDING, it took the headliner to speak before the crowd noticed. I did appreciate Jason’s comment at the end
As a casual musician, I have to say Jason’s pitch is 100x better. ZB seems scared and unsure in every going on there. He’s all over the place. Jason seems gracious and flashed him that smile to let ZB know - it’s alright, sing it out.
Jason Isbell is Zach Bryan’s idol. He looked up to him since he was a kid. So, he was very scared to sing in front of him. I just saw Zach live and he was absolutely amazing. Sounded nothing like he does here.
@@TennesseeYaya I only saw that ever mentioned in one article that was never fact checked. I never have heard or seen any other news that they are related neither has Zach ever said they are. Just that he is an idol of his and inspired a lot of his music.
He is right about one thing. He may be the bigger star but he did ruin the song in that first minute. Chalkboard scratchingly bad. Fortunately things got better when they switched to a duet style so we didn't have to hear Zach's voice, which just does not fit the song at all. OTOH, the last 90 seconds was painful watching JI and Sadler solo while ZB walked around with his thumb up his backside.
@@sotampacaneIf you know anything about Zach Bryan since he was a kid he looked up to Jason Isbell. That guy is his idol obviously for good reason. He was just kind of in shock and awe to be singing with him. He certainly does not sound this bad when he is comfortable. He is a very good live performer I have seen him and Jason many times. Both are fantastic performers and song writers with different styles that fit people differently.
WoW, this guy just pulled off the text book how too. “How to end your career in one act”. He literally destroyed his career by showing the country music fans around the world, what he really believes in, which isn't much at all, unless you consider the fact that he agrees with a child mutilating themselves without having to tell their parents, or that 1rst graders should have pornography stands in their classroom. The fact that he hates himself for being white, says what state of mind he is in that alone will shatter the hearts of country music fans, who believe in family and that children are our future and need parents to guide them, He has no morels or values that even come close to relating to us country music fans.
Can we all just agree that Isbell the best songwriter of our time?
Fully agree !
Our time and maybe the previous time, too...
Easily.
I would fly kick someone if I was at this concert and they asked who the guy in the blue shirt was 😂😂
Yes
Isbell is a musicians musician, he’s super talented, a whole different level and Zach is certainly aware of that.
Zach loves him, he is so humble in JI presence 🤗
it was cute that ZB was star struck for his own opener
Zach should be opening for isbell

Thankful Zach has been gracious enough to share his audience with Jason & the 400 Unit.
It should be the other way around! Isbell is a much better talent!

I love how Anna Butters just prowls the stage, what a monster bassist.
She is so badass. perfect fit imo
We just got to see her for the first time with them last night - she killed it. So impressive ❤
This is the definition of stealing the show and blowing the headliner off the stage…powerful

bro Zach AND Jason?? Blew my mind. This was fantastic.
on top of everything else, it's kinda striking how much stronger/better JI's voice is ....
