  • Are you on a vacation? Wondering "Which lenses I should bring to the beach?" I made this video to help out! We recently took a trip to the beach, and after thinking it over, I selected three lenses from my kit to document my family having fun. Given that we were carrying lots of beach chairs, food, towels, shovels and buckets, I wanted a lightweight lens bag. I also didn't want to risk getting sand in my more expensive lenses. So for beach photography, I brought the Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM Lens, the Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 IS Macro STM Lens, and the Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens. I had a blast using this lenses on my Canon R5 taking portraits, candids, and wildlife.

I was at the beach earlier this year. Used my 50mm rf 1.8 when we were playing at the beach. When we were just walking around at sunset I used my 85mm 1.4 samyamg RF for some portraits.

Awesome! Bet those shots turned out great. Love using 85mm at the beach. Makes the background so smooth.

I haven’t tried my EF Mount nifty fifty on the R5 yet but this sure gave me some inspiration to give it a try. 😊

I bring my iPhone at the beach and find it more than enough. If I had to bring a lens it would be the small and versatile RF 14-35mm F4 as I prefer environmental portraits. 👍

The iPhone these days are incredible for beach shots. And that 14-35 is a fantastic choice!

Inspiring video, thanks... What's a beach ? I forget... Been so long. But what I would take would be the RF 50mm F/1.8 (with CPL filter for sea and sky, variable ND filter for long exposure for the sea) as it would slip in my bag and I could whip it out quickly. A tripod... never leave home without it. Then a zoom, perhaps the Canon RF 24 to 240mm as it gives me the greatest opportunity for composition for landscape and zooming in on features. But neither are L lenses or weather sealed so keeping the sand and salt out is a challenge. If it's coastal and the weather is not so great but there are cliffs I would also bring my EF (with RF converter) Sigma 150 to 600 and teleconverters for birds and sail boats/wind surfers at sea. My DJI Mini 2 drone would also feature a lot as well as my Samsung 360 camera which I set up on a tripod to capture the beach/waves moments to be relived in VR, again and again in the cold dark winter. Looking forward to your drone video.

Great choices! I want to try out that 24-240 sometime! It would be a great lens to bring to the beach for zooming in on dolphins and pelicans! And my friend just got that 150-600 and his nature photos are awesome! I want to try that out soon too!

@@ShaneLongPhotography I can vouch for the Sigma 150 to 600 contemporary lens ... with either of the sigma only fit teleconverters. Awesome pull on animals and with the R5 eye detect it's excellent value for money compared to Canon Lenses. Give it a try. Not much use for Weddings though I think. I'm still working with the 24 to 240 as I only just got it but it looks hopeful so far, just waiting to be allowed outside again.

Hi Shane, how is the 135mm is with R5? can you do a review of it with R5? how is the sharpness with 45MP sensor? Thanks!

Hello! LOVE the 135 with the R5! The sharpness holds up great with 45MP. Here is my review of it with the R, just know it does even better on the R5. Focuses fast and still has great resolution. Just used it this weekend at a wedding and it worked great for the indoor ceremony photos. Plus the IBIS with it really helps! ruclips.net/video/O_1lsLeSfdo/видео.html

@@ShaneLongPhotography Wow! Great to hear that! I was on edge to buy it for my 6DII, since later planning to get r5.
