@@HardEarnedBaconit’s funny because I grew up with YJs and TJs, but ended up with an XJ. They are fun, but those Wranglers will always catch my eye when done right.
Awesome, I'm doing this exact same thing. I decided to cut off the LCA and Coil buckets and replace those with Barnes as well. Are you sticking with OEM UCA bushings? I am leaning to swapping both to a JJ or the passenger to tabs to accept a heim.
@@HardEarnedBacon Nice. Have any ideas for the passenger side? I was thinking of either cutting and modifying the old tower to mount on the truss so I can just press in a JJ or looking to cut the barns bushing bracket and weld on a weldable JJ.
Love watching the fab work! You're inspiring me to get in the garage. Not being a hater, but instead genuinely curious why you're building the 30? I've wrestled with what I would want to do and every time I start thinking axle swaps, I want to go big.
This is going in my LJ which is staying more street focused, the YJ will be getting much bigger parts at some point. Sticking with the 30 because I am keeping the rear 44, keeping my factory track bars and suspension mounts, factory steering, my wheels, etc. Not going bigger than 35s so didn't want the domino effect of other axles haha.
Awesome update! I really need to learn how to weld.
Thanks! I need to get better, haha
Nice work! It's always a good time trying out new tools and equipment.
Thanks! Wish I had a bigger shop with room for more tools and equipment haha
I’ve got the same truss on my D30. Looks good
Just went through your videos and it's making me miss my XJs. May have to buy a 5th at some point in the future haha

@@DCarter355 I think the XJ is the perfect size 4x4 with 4 doors. Wish I could go back in time and buy a brand new one.
Nice work man!! I'm getting ready to put 5.13 in mine. keep up the great content
Thanks! Gears and lockers soon hopefully
Nice job.Is there a reason you didnt weld the axle tubes to the differential housing?
I considered it but I don't think it's necessary with a truss. I don't know that I've ever seen a 30 with welded tubes now that I think about it.

Planning to go with JJs since I'm in the process of installing Rockjock control arms that all have JJs.

@@Silentway247 I was thinking about welding on a piece of tube that has the same ID as the cast sleeve on the housing, not sure yet
@@HardEarnedBacon I ended up buying the Artec UCA bracket for their truss and just modified it to fit the Barnes, also went with the Barnes trackbar.
Did the preheat melt the inner axle seals?
Not that I noticed but I didn't pay attention since they were getting replaced later with the regear
Are you concerned about warping the housing?
Nah

Great content! Are you interested in vehicle lighting stuff sponsorship?
