      I’ve had my S1 cleaning my house for the past month (does amazing btw) and guess what, it works just fine if you completely block its internet access on your router. Before I blocked it I also monitored the traffic from it for a week and didn’t see anything particularly alarming. For context, I’m a software engineer that handles cybersecurity for enterprise systems, so I know what I’m looking for. If you’re so paranoid about it, just block it at the network level. It’ll still work fine.

    This review felt like a return to form. No vacuum is perfect. There was a clear recommendation in the video (who is it for), a fair and critical look at both the pros and the cons. Overall, it feels a lot more honest when instead of saying ”everything about this robot is great”, you highlight both good and bad areas.
    I do wish there was a bit more comparison with other alternatives. (For example, The S1 Pro’s mopping was better than the S8 MaxV’s, but it’s carpet performance was worse, etc..)

    I’m not sure the carpet performance moves the needle for me on any robot vacuum because I just don’t think any of them are heavy enough to get good agitation so I don’t really factor that in. We use our upright vacuum for our carpeted bedrooms and a robot vacuum for the tiled living space/bathrooms/kitchen. I think this is darn near perfect

    Eufy appears to have figured out obstacle avoidance while focusing on detecting that there is an obstacle instead of figuring out what the obstacle is. It's like with self driving cars; there was that accident a while back where the car was confused on whether a bicyclist or pedestrian was in front and unfortunately crashed into them, when it should have understood that there is an obstacle and needed to stop regardless of what was in front.

    I've replaced my Dreame L10S Ultra by this Eufy S1 pro. I can confirm that the Eufy doesn't clean carpets as well as the Dreame did, but it is adequate and the Dreame was terrible to my wooden floors with grain. Over months the Dreame caused a layer of dirt on my floor that was disgusting to look at; friends of mine even have this problem on a slightly rough stone floor. The Eufy changed this completely and our floors are finally clean again! The fact that it doesn't perform as well on carpets matters little to us as it still runs multiple times a week and we only have about 10m^2 of carpet. However, I have found that the Eufy doesn't like going underneath black Ikea furniture that 10cm high, but then it navigates much better under our dinner table between the chairs.

      My Q Revo and S7 MaxV Ultra did the same thing on my tile floors! I had them doing daily mopping with a double pass, but still after a few months I started noticing a thin dirt layer was developing on my floors. It made them look very dull and dingy.
      I've had the S1 Pro for a month now and my floors are SO much brighter and clean looking. The difference is truly night and day. I've never been so impressed with a robovac like I have with the S1.

    after several months of mopping use, if you open up the base station you can see its internal tubing is full of mold. You might want to open up the base station and examine the inside to see which station can keep off mold the best.

    • @Brendon471
      @Brendon471 Месяц назад +10

      I don't think this will be an issue for the S1 Pro because the ozonated water really does work at preventing any bacterial growth. It's the first robovac I've had where even after a week of the dirty water sitting there, it develops ZERO smells. And when I say zero smell, I mean absolutely nothing at all. Not even a hint of bad smells. There's also been no mold spores or anything growing in the water either (and that's both in the base and the onboard dirty water tank).
      For comparison, my Q Revo's dirty water tank smelled AWFUL after just a few days of sitting there. If it was left there for a week or more it would start growing mold in the tank and the smell was truly nauseating. Never having to deal with this on the S1 has been one of the biggest improvements I've noticed so far.

    • @Brendon471
      @Brendon471 Месяц назад

      @@fZionists78 Totally unnecessary on the S1 and overall not a good suggestion for any robovac. Bleach is bad for plastics and can dissolve the piping over time, leading to leaks. I’m telling you, I run the S1 Pro in my house every single day for over a month now and the dirty water tank has absolutely no smell. Not even a little bit. Ozonated water is extremely effective at killing bacteria in the tank and on surfaces that it’s cleaned with.

      @@Brendon471 how many vacuum robots are you buying? I'm genuinely asking, are people really replacing those devices like phones, every couple years a new one? I still have the first one I bought 4 years ago, and I don't really see a need to buy a new one.

    • @Brendon471
      @Brendon471 Месяц назад

      @@jankoodziej877 Aside from the Q Revo I got last year (and the S8 MaxV Ultra that I bought and returned from Best Buy to try out) this is the only other robovac I’ve bought.
      I planned on keeping the Q Revo for a few years, but it was doing a terrible job at cleaning and the lack of obstacle avoidance made it more annoying than useful since it always got stuck on things. The cleaning was truly awful too, it started to leave a thin film of dirt all over my floors despite it being scheduled for a daily, double pass of the vacuum/mop with deep water usage and frequent mop pad cleaning. Even with all of that my floors started to look dull and dingy after a few months.
      Walking barefoot you could just tell the floors weren’t clean. I hated that, so when I saw the S1 for $899 on Kickstarter I backed it immediately. My Q Revo was the same price and the S1 blows it out of the water. My floors feel amazing now. They’re absolutely spotless and I never have to babysit the S1 since it perfectly avoids every obstacle or cable it comes across.

      Yup. It's amazing not having a dirty water tank that smells horrible. On both my Q Revo and S7 MaxV Ultra the water would smell so bad after a few days that it would make me gag. The S1 however, even after a week of daily mopping, has ZERO bad smells. The ozonator works extremely well, much better than I ever expected it to.

      @Brendon471 Месяц назад +4

      Ignore the guy above. This bot doesn't even have a regular camera like other bots nor does it have allow any access to the camera, so those points are moot. Moving on from that, the actual cleaning performance is insanely good. Your floors are literally left spotless and you can really feel the difference when walking barefoot.
      My previous Q Revo/S7 MaxV Ultra have literally never made my floors feel as clean as the S1 does. And since the obstacle avoidance is so good, it's the first bot I can truly set on a schedule and 100% forget about. It's been vacuuming/mopping my apartment daily for month now and I've never once had to rescue or check on it. I honestly love it so much.

    For those comparing the Eufy S1 Pro and SwitchBot S10, I’ve had both for several weeks. If you have hard floors, these are your only real choices. My Roborock and Ecovacs are not even close to these. Despite my initial excitement and possible bias for the SwitchBot S10, I’d choose the Eufy S1 Pro if I could only have one.
    Both are excellent, but the Eufy is far more premium in every sense. Its navigation is the best I've ever seen; it avoids getting tangled in curtains without needing virtual walls, unlike the SwitchBot. The Eufy also cleans with ozone, which is crucial for maintaining cleanliness and health.
    Seriously. The benefits of cleaning with aqueous ozone cannot be overstated.
    The SwitchBot S10’s unique feature is its empty/refill station that connects to a drain and water line. This excited me until I realized it doesn’t refill or empty its tank at the start and end of runs. And it's made it very difficult to think of a way to add aqueous ozone to the SwitchBot. Also, leaving water in the tank for extended periods of time could cause filtration issues for those with hard water. (To be fair, SwitchBot's customer service is incredibly kind and responsive. They said they are looking into resolving the issue of leaving the tank full between runs in a future firmware update.)
    Both mop floors phenomenally well, but the Eufy does slightly better with smooth navigation, quiet operation, better waterflow, and an impressive filter that leaves the whole room smelling fresh. The SwitchBot, although almost effective, is louder and bumps into everything. And surprisingly, even though SwitchBot has access to essentially unlimited access to water through its waterline hookups, it only puts the faintest amount of water down even at max water settings.
    Edge cleaning isn’t perfect on either, but the Eufy is better thanks in no small part due to its roller bar that extends across its body, unlike the SwitchBot’s, which only covers about half. This means the SwitchBot requires more passes, can only do edges in one direction, and the roller is positioned further away from the edge.
    If Eufy ever adds the ability to connect directly to plumbing (and maybe some devices that it can transport water or power to/from), there would be no reason to ever consider the SwitchBot. But I'm going to keep my eye on SwitchBot because even though their execution is in some ways lacking today, they seem to a unique vision for creative ways to innovate in the future.

It would be awesome if you could test anti hair tangling features of those robots. Even though this robot seems ideal for me as I have only hard floors I don’t think it would be as low maintenance as my dreame. Also two more advantages for dreame: moving side brush and moving mop pad which I find particularly useful.

    Want to add 2 points -
    1, the biggest headache for us is its claimed very low clearance is not exactly true. We used to use a Roborock S6, and we have done some work to lift our furniture so the S6 will be able to get under them. However many of the furniture pieces that has a bottom tall enough for S6, The S1 Pro does not want to work with. And actually to make it worse, it will actually try to go under it, but somehow in middle of the way it will basically say "no it won't work" and get out. I don't know why is this.
    2, there's one rather important feature missing from its app, that it cannot do cleaning which disables mopping and follow a order of rooms. The app allows only one set of "Customize" settings which allows you to set which room to use what cleaning method and then a order of rooms, but that's it. If I set to use the customized setting, it follows the room order but has to do mopping; and if I use "Default", I have a way to disable mopping but it also cannot follow a room ordering.

      @@yin-yinwang8095 Handles hair tangles no problems, and much easier than on other bots like the S7/S8 MaxV Ultra. It resists most long hair tangles like from my mother/sister, but large amounts of hair do sometimes get wrapped on the sides where they can easily be removed by detaching the ends of the brush bar.

    • @Brendon471
      @Brendon471 Месяц назад +3

      Left a comment below for you. Hair tangles have been no problem for me or my mother/sister whose hair gets everywhere. I actually just checked it and there isn't a single hair wrapped around the brush bar, but there was a few on the ends of the brush. As stated in my other comment though, that's easily removed by just pulling off the ends of the brush bar. Then you just slide the hair off.

    The biggest pro imo is the price. While I love my S8 Pro Ultra and am in need of another robot for my top floor I was turned off of Roborock. The S1 Pro may just do the trick.. plus it could replace mopping as a whole since it's actually washing the floors not wiping them.

    • @Brendon471
      @Brendon471 Месяц назад

      Replaced my S7 MaxV Ultra with it and the difference in mopping is literally night and day, which you can immediately feel when walking barefoot. The S7 made the floors feel mostly clean, but the S1 Pro makes them feel absolutely spotless. Zero dirt or grime is left behind.

  • @6thDAY
    @6thDAY Месяц назад

    I think the S1 Pro is perfect for my house since it’s mostly vinyl floor, except for one low-pile carpet. It can also easily vacuum under my 3.75” clearance furniture that is also a pain to use with my Dyson.
    The only real concern I have is no edge vacuuming/mopping. I read it leaves 1-2 inches off the edge of baseboards, furniture, etc., which is why I was also looking into the Dreame X40. Is this a dealbreaker?

    Hi there, Vacuum Wars : I am buying an upright vacuum mop and I know you haven’t tested this model - the dream H One - I was wondering if you could tell me anything about it ? Have you heard anything in the grapevine ? I know you haven’t tested this product, but I know you have tested the product of Tineco floor one S7 Pro - I have seen your review on this one and I believe you ranked it number one. I know you can’t tell me which one to buy - that’ll be up to me, but I guess I’m asking you if you heard anything about it and if you could give me any of your input on it before I make my mind up. Not true actually. Replacement parts are already available direct from Eufy. I actually can't think of a part that isn't on their store yet.

    Great review! Just curious, when you ran the wet spill mopping test did you find any of it getting into the Dustbin since it doesn't turn off the vacuum when it mops?

    • @Brendon471
      @Brendon471 Месяц назад +1

      In my use after the past month I haven't had any liquids get into the dustbin even after I had it clean up two cans off spilled White Claws. The brush bar doesn't directly touch the ground, so liquids don't get sucked in/kicked into the dustbin by the vacuum brush.

    But carpet cleaning is definitely nothing special and I have a very thin carpet. But it’s off white so stuff shows.
    Somehow worse vacuuming than the X10 I had.
