A few of the comments you made are based off of not understanding how the game works, like the enhancing system... or judging dungeons based on the first normal dungeon. Also p2w doesn’t hit till a few dozen hours in end game. Game is solid tbh tho has flaws
yeah tbh i made this video in the mindset of entertainment rather than informational and it's probably raised more questions than answers lol. I agree with you, I made some premature conclusions, but it's more of a first impression than a review. Apart from the combat, it's a fine game
Although its possible to "pay to win today" in reality it is also "play to earn to win". I've made roughly 30k Lucent (cash shop currency) just by selling drops. 30k allowed me to buy the battle pass, levelling pass, 2 cosmetic outfits, fully gear my character as a F2P. I could easily buy any item in the game at the moment, with any traits I wanted and have maxxed out gear. I'm not doing that because part of an MMO is grinding for upgrades and I don't want to take that away from myself. 6000 lucent is 100 US. So I've earned bout $500 USD worth of premium currency. Yes someone paid for my item "to win" but in less than a month that "best gear" will be obsolete and new gear will be out to be purchased. The whales will buy it, and the F2P will earn it. The best part of this specific monetization model, is that it allows people to whale and support the game financially, and also has a trickle down economic effect where non whales can earn most of the currency spent by the whales. No other P2W game has this aspect. NC/AWS got your money when you swiped, but they allow others to also benefit. Just some added info. Good vid.
interesting, this is the first time someone's said that you can earn in game currency through the auction house (at least to me). So as a F2P player, you can get the same things as someone who paid for it?
@@lmayo870 100%. The you cant even sell for solant in the Auction House. You basicly only sell in premium currency. Obviously with taxes. Buts its Ok as you get that for free. at release for example a drop of a field boss was easily 10k+ lucent. which are hundreds of euros
@@lmayo870 yes sirr. I was kinda scared of being f2p. Im f2p in genshin impact. but after my first day after hitting level 50. I earned enough to buy the battlepass and levelling pass
@@lmayo870 Yes, just a little later depending on RNG. Some items sell for $100 US, some sell for $5 USD worth of currency. So if you check what is valuable, right click on it to see where to acquire it, then go farm that. Win win.
Just a heads up, you cannot pay to upgrade skills, weapons or gear and you cannot buy gold (sollant). The things you can buy is base lvl 0 gear and traits. in my opinion the game is about 50% pay to win because you still need to work for all of your upgrades and gold. However with the auction house, it can give f2p players a chance to sell rare gear they have recieved and sell it to lazy whales for massive amounts of lucent (Premium currency) i personal have about 200 hours in the game and have received over 10,000 Lucent for free just by selling stuff. Yeah it's not great that people can swipe to get some gear and traits but i think this is the only mmo that gives f2p players an actual chance.
if im gonna be honest this game is definitely more fair to the f2p playerbase. Everything that I've seen in game (now that i've reached max lvl) is obtainable if you grind for it. So personally I wouldn't say its p2w, but pay for convinience. If you've played warframe, i'd say the monetization is pretty similar
the pink token are the tokens everyone gets equally either is a p2w player or f2p player soo you cant buy those token as they are given to every player when server goes under maintenance. soo you cant accuse it as resource which could be bought by money. and i am not saying its not p2w but my boy get your facts right. BTW love your videos.
I genuinely want to know what people want in an mmorpg? I don't play many since my PC days in highschool but dang of all the titles that came out over the decade it's always negative comments. Not speaking to this video specifically but the endless complaints I see over the years no one provides a solution and if they do everyone hates it lol
from my understanding, people want an mmorpg that's new and unique. Something that'll go down in history as a classic, a new WoW/GW2/BDO/FFIV basically. And unfortunately some of the new releases aren't living up to (or surpassing) those standards. But again thats from what i've seen, maybe i'm completely wrong
I have played for about 200 hours now and hit end game in about 6 hours. I have also spent money and can safely say its not p2w. The money i spent only gets me power in terms of traits and that's it, I can buy gear and trait it with money which is only half the gears power. The truth is p2w is about the same speed as a no life gamer. If you are casual then yes you will feel it in some way going up against a no life gamer or a p2w player but you wont be able to tell the difference because they will kill you equally as fast.
Okay good to know I wasn't tripping about this game not being p2w. I'm at the point in the game where I can see where the grind starts, and it for sure looks like I can grind for everything and nothing's locked behind a paywall or anything (from what I can see)
@@lmayo870 Yeah there is nothing behind a pay wall. Just the fact that the currency you buy with money can be farmed by f2p already makes the argument for p2w quite weak. The power you can purchase by just spending money is also temporary in that yes I can make myself immediately more powerful than you but 3-4 weeks down the line you will catch up and for the next 3-4 months we will be equal. Also the fact that gear always upgrades and doesn't break /fail an upgrade unlike in BDO, Archage and Lost Ark makes spending money less efficient and also not that much better than just f2p grinding. I have played a lot of MMO and i mean a lot and i can with 1000% certainty say this game is the lest p2w Asian MMO on the market.
I can see what youre trying to do with this video. But man. Getting to 43 isnt enough to judge an mmorpg on its monetization or casual friendliness? I mean you looked at the only part of the shop that isnt buyable with money 💀 I know its controversial to say this and we all wish it wasnt true, but an MMORPG doesnt begin until you hit max level and experience endgame. Judging the p2w when youre not even at a point where p2w would become a thing… yea idk
yeah i 100% agree with you, it was only after i uploaded this video that I realized that I said close to nothing about this game's pay model. But I have reached the point of p2w in my own time (which I'm pretty sure is the auction house), and from what i've seen and read from other comments you can definitely earn premuin currency by grinding for it
i dont wanna sound like a hater here but as someone who was thinking of playing the game and stopped bcz of what i heard about p2w this vid didnt really help at all since most p2w will not hit u with that early game but late game and u didnt show that and for a game to be p2w it doest have to be forcing u to pay if i can buy upgrade materials in 2s or spend 20hs farming for those its pay to win since in a long run u will save 100s of hours with money over a f2p
honestly this is a valid comment and I didn't even think about how useless this video is lol. This is pretty much a nothing burger video tbh. But i'd disagree and still say that it's more or less pay for convinience, because if you can still earn those materials for free (even with the lengthy grind times) then it's not p2w. My definition of p2w is if it's something that you can ONLY get by paying yknow?
@@lmayo870pay to lose. Paying for content that is ultimately free so you can save time. Effectively shortening the games life span/ play hours so that you can finish it faster.
You have no idea how deep this rat hole goes man. TL is insanely P2W. People just aren't realizing it yet because you have to understand how the entire endgame/stat system works. Contribution, traits, time gating, and the MASSIVE advantages given to those who consistently win sieges. And it's always going to be the P2W players that dominate PvP. There's no way around it. Once they have those maxed traits, it's game over for anyone who doesn't. You need to understand how stats/traits work in this game to begin to see the monster lurking under the surface of this shiny new game. There is no F2P in this game. Your options are P2W or F2L. And anyone who tries to argue with that is either delusional, ignorant, or lying to you.
I'll definitely take a deeper look into the monetization of this game in a later future, because I'm torn on it right now. People have told me that it's not p2w and others are telling me it is heavily p2w. I haven't reached the super mega ultra end game so everything that I've witnessed has been pretty fair in terms of f2p MMOs. Thanks for your input though
