Hardly know what to say - I'm one of the original Deadheads - lived at Waller and Ashbury - one of my best friends owns 712 Ashbury - right next door to the old Dead house at 710. Been in there many times - and it BLOWS MY MIND to drop out of earth orbit and wind up at the bottom of those stairs once again - never imagined any such. Saw my first of 200+ shows at 17 - I'm 72 now - I pretty much grew up under the mirrored ball at Winterland. I promise you - all the years combine - and they melt into a dream. SO glad I got on the bus all those years ago. All the best to all of you...

bless you Daniel. I appreciate your comments. my first Dead shows were Solstice weekend, West High School Auditorium, Anchorage Alaska 1980. My 22 yo Jerry guitar channeling Deadhead Son wasn't alive to see and hear him. So, dangit we were at the Gorge Apmphitheatre shows last July and the Solstice Sphere shows. The heck to the haters - let them go play with their tapes. The Music Never Stopped!!
I saw the Grateful Dead at Watkins Glen, NY, in 1972. It was a one day concert. They came on stage at noon and played for 5 hours, then The Band came on, interrupted by a rainstorm, then the Allman Brothers played, then all 3 bands jammed to well past 3am.
@@davidp7178 Yeah I think you are right, it was 1973, but you know what they say about the 1970s: "If you remember the 70s, then you weren't doing it right".
i wasn't alive in 1973, it took another decade for me to show up. But Watkins Glen is THE concert i would go see if i had a time-machine... not Woodstock, not Monterey... Watkins Glen, to see The Dead, The Band, and the Allmans. Legendary show. i have a copy of the promotional poster hanging up on my living room wall. What i would give to be able to go back to that time and experience that.

How was the sound.?? I've got tix for 6/13&7/13. The July tickets are for sale.
The sound is amazing...160,000 speakers...you are engulfed by it but never overwhelmed. I saw U2 & Phish run from Sec 405 & 407.
Sound was absolutely bonkers good.
Judging by this video, it sounds fantastic.

How is the sound in the sphere? Watching these videos i find I am pulled to focus on the visuals and the music doesn’t feel as “big”

Same, I was just wondering if these were the 400’s seats!
I was in the 200s but anywhere from 200 to 400 is amazing
Thanks brother!
looks like the 800s
400s were great. You can't see the stage well but you get the entirety of the visuals almost in front of you without having to look up too much.
