Old flight attendant trick: give your shampoo bottle a little squeeze before you shut the cap. The air pressure will not pop it.

For face wash when I travel, I use Olay Daily Facials cloths. They are dry. You wet your face and hands and just rub the cloth over your face and it activates the cleanser. Less liquid to worry about. Also, try using old contact lens cases for liquids you use in smaller amounts: BB/CC Cream, foundation, concealer. Liquid makeup products also count as "liquids" to the TSA, so using little contact lens cases allows me to travel with just the right amount. That seems to be the trick to this: Determine the right amount of a product you need and then find the appropriate container for it.

    Great video
One time I forgot my make up bag at home it was really tough finding things and added stress .
I have had a dedicated toiletries bag in my car since college as often I would go to the gym and then go to work .
I gave all my stuff dedicated in there. Sometimes after work I am meeting a friend for dinner or spent the night at my sisters I still have my stuff . I have pretty much use refilled the travel size containers I get for free . I have a sewing kit in mine as well .
When I am actually traveling I just add my extra stuff and I am good to go
When I arrive back I just make sure I refill everything so it’s ready again
Instead of a loofah try buying the bath glove or purchase a Japanese cloth ( I use that daily )

Totally get this. I have gone on several small trips as well as longer vacations over the past couple of years so I have found just to keep my travel toilietry bag hanging on the bathroom door, filled. I keep a 2nd toothbrush in there, travel sized toothpaste, extra deodorant, skin care products in smaller sizes, etc. This way I don't stress myself out worrying about "what am I missing", when something as come up at the last minute.

I am preparing for a 7-day trip to Dubai next year and I am fully committed to traveling with 1 carry-on. Your idea to decant your toiletries and using them while you are are home to determine how you really use in a given time period is an excellent idea. I never thought about doing that. I spent so many years carrying more than I needed. I won't do that anymore. Thank you.

I read it often in TFG Facebook group that buy your toiletries when you go to your destinations. But not everyone travels for weeks or longer time . When you travel for a week or so , you would want to get the most out of your time sightseeing , relaxing etc. and you may not have extra time to make trips to the stores to buy toiletries. And if you happen to travel with a travel group , it’s even more difficult . And a lot of hotels don’t even have a good usable shampoos , condition body wash etc. The key is to plan ahead and take /decant in travel size containers , sizes .

Great tips! I wash out the tiny hotel shampoo bottles and put my own shampoo and conditioner in them. But I cut out on body wash by using shampoo as body wash too! Or whatever the accommodation provides. Dove sensitive soap bar has worked well for me as face wash in the past, I’d definitely try it out at home before trying on the road. I never leave home without my little pot of coconut oil! PS I love how thorough you are in your videos! 💕💕🙌🏽

I’m doing research bc we are traveling to Europe late this summer for almost 2 weeks, and I’m planning on using all of the samples I’ve been saving, especially shampoo/cond, hairspray, cleansers, etc. I’m used to using a LOT of different products at home (what can I say, I like skincare, hair, and makeup - beauty in general!), but I’ve already started making a list of things to take that are more minimal.

I also travel carry-on only and use the silicone 3 oz squeeze bottles for shampoo, body wash, hair gel and sunscreen. I'm sensitive to different products so unfortunately I can't use the hotel freebees. I put my SPF moisturizer in one of those small pots like you used and then for make-up I bring mascara, a couple of shadow crayons, eyeliner, and one liquid lipstick since they can all lay flat along the bottom of my clear bag for security. Great tips!

I also prefer to use samples I get from where I buy my skincare/cosmetics. And for shampoo/conditioner/shower gel, I also use either hotel stuff or buy it from a local store. When you travel to Europe they have more or less the same stuff we have here in Canada, or sometimes even BETTER stuff!

What do you do about liquid makeup (foundation, mascara, liquid eyeliner, liquid lipcolor, etc.) Also, I was under the impression that if it can be spread (such as stick sunscreen/deodorant) it also has to go into the TSA 3-1-1 bag. Not really only liquids.

I’m a solid shampoo and conditioner fan.
Long ago, it was lush and extra fatted soap, but now I love Ethique, but there are so many actual shampoos (as opposed to soap) available. Etsy is a gold mine, and many are now in stores. (HiBar is almost always in stock in my area)
I always test at home for a week first.
I get a lot of sample packs. Shampoos that don’t pass get tested as soap. Some are too drying, so try at home!
I wish my hair/water quality worked with superfatted soap, but I need an acidic rinse, and that’s a bottle, even when I just bring it straight to mix in a glass of spray bottle. I have thought about ascorbic or citric acid tablets I could crush. But simple counts.
All that said, I’ll try nice toiletries provided in hotels.

You live on a boat? I got slight seasickness watching you bob up and down 😂What about makeup? How do we navigate liquid eyeliners, foundation, lipstick.....the list goes on and on. How do you squeeze all of that into this one quart bag with toiletries?
