  • Yant Flat (also known as Candy Cliffs) is a spectacular rocky plateau near Saint George in Utah, covered with colorful patterned sandstone rock formations. Yant Flat is not yet widely known but in many respects it rivals the beauty of the famous Checkerboard Mesa, The Wave, Valley of Fire, White Pocket.

Thanks for a great video. Next week we move from Salt City area to St. George. Our street is Yant Flat Dr. What a weird name we thought. Now, thanks to your video, we have a better respect and appreciation for what it's named after! The adjoining street is also weird (we thought): Dwarf Bear Poppy Lane. Come to find out there is a flower that only grows in one place in the world near here. They call it a Dwarf Bear Poppy because the petals resemble the paw of a small bear. Can't wait to get down there and explore!

Fantastic. THANK YOU for your expertise, long hours of work, skilled editing, and I'm sure physical endurance (!!!) putting this together

    Magnificent. TY

"THANKYOU" for the reply! Your work (and pleasure) capturing LIGHT and SHADOW - color and remarkable detail - long waiting periods and
patience and focus - beautifully smooth and intriguing panning.... what more can I say.? All of which supersedes even the BEST of
"Nat'l Geo" (as well as others). Yours is a skill, a focus....perhaps even an obsession.....that is so rare and pure. Saying "Thank You,"
just doesn't seem to be enough.

What are those lines at 0:34? Expansion cracks? Don't think it's water erosion, as there seems easier routes for water to flow. Fossilised dessication cracks? It's the wrong colour for basaltic crystals. Mostly it looks like sandstone, which doesn't form large scale crystals. Very unusual. I've never seen anything like that before. Looking it up reveals:
_"Checkerboard Mesa Checkerboard Mesa is an example of two weathering processes, one controlled by stratigraphy and one by climate. The “checkerboard” results from the roughly perpendicular sets of grooves in the Navajo Sandstone. The nearly horizontal grooves follow layers of coarse sand that coincide with eolian bedding sets whereas the vertical grooves have been interpreted to be the result of local expansion and contraction of the rock surface due to changes in temperature and moisture (Biek et al. 2000)."_

Yes, Checkerboard mesa formations look quite similar, complex explanation... lately I pay less attention to the way things got formed and more to their beauty :)
      Take care :)

Amazing Places on Our Planet I find the beauty in the physics and that then enhances the aesthetic beauty. It's a deeper way to look at things. It helps me with my paintings in many ways.

+Pavao Špigelski yes, that's correct, I did speed up a little my videos, looks like most people prefer this. I personally like a little longer clips, that can be enjoyed on 4K TVs
