I got a Trek Pak version for the same price as the foam model , as the retailer couldn't sell them at the up-charge price . I filled the voids with generic cheap foam . Win win :-)
With the pins do you need to use them on the bottom of the dividers as well with the bigger cases ? I've got the Pelican 1650 case and will be getting this system but I'm wanting to know if I need to double up on the pins as I will be buying extra panels for my layout.
greatly over priced but I love my Pelican case now. Had to order an additional 90" of extra foam for make my bag to accommodate all of my stuff. The system is good, it just doesn't come with enough padding to complete your set up. Be prepared to spend another $100+ on getting your configuration the way you love it.
16 pins in that final layout you show (you only get 10 in a kit) and more foam dividers than you get in a kit. i love the concept of this but the cost is oppressive, especially if you use older vintage camera gear and need more dividers and pins for the smaller lenses and bodies.
The original Pelican TrekPak Kit had cutouts I guess. The current ones don't. Instead, they have 3" of foam on the bottom of the cases so the TrekPak can lie flat. You lose 50% of the volume of a 1615 from this foam. It's really ridiculous how thick the foam is. I'm shocked.
Ok don’t you have more movement of your gear with this system vs a pull out foam system. Isn’t that more snug assuring your gear doesn’t get jostled around.
Yes, but once you’ve plucked the foam that’s it you can’t un pluck so need to get a new foam set. This is far more configurable and you only need top ups to do most reconfigurations.
@@enri_1986 haha yeah I'm on here but I mainly use RUclips for personal stuff at the moment. I've got the Pelican 1510 with the pelican dividers but I'm considering the TrekPak system as my dividers are worn out after 8 years of use. My big Pelican 1650 I think I will just stick with my custom job I done as it works so well and be great if I travelled.
@@SimonPhillipsPhoto There's a used (and older) 1650 for sale near me. Might be a little overkill, but I can fit a light modifier or two. Hard to say no since it's $100 with foam.
Price is killer but these things are amazing!
Seem B&H are the best place to buy them from as you get more for your money. there's other sites but you don't get the same kit.

I just got an air1485 for 90 bucks lightly used and the trekpak for that case costs almost the same.
I would highly recommend the pullout foam version.
You can go that route, but I’m definitely going with this guy on his DIY Trekpak: ruclips.net/video/GvcuVhpHtjI/видео.html
Would these fit inside other case brands like Apache from Harbor Freight ?
If it’s a matching model then yes
My top foam falls out every time I open the case. Do I have to glue it to the top? It's very irritating.
Velcro (hook and loop)

The price is half the price of a Pelican case.

Do you all have a kit for a Pelican 1740?

I need one for my 1610, the price is just to much.
Will the pelican 1510 fit 2 full size dslr cameras like the D5 and D3s along with a 70-200 2.8, 24-70 2.8, 14-24 2.8 ?
probably everything but the 70-200
I bet you found this out already but if anyone else is looking, you can very easily do it and fit another lens in as well.
@@SimonPhillipsPhoto Wow, didn't expect to see you here. You've got a 1510 and 1650 with custom foam now.

Uhhhhhh… What about the lens sitting on the freakin wheel walls???
Can't agree more with all the comments on these overpriced foams.
yes, but with the amount of copy cat DIY solutions, versus the pluck foam or velcro dividers, seems like they're onto something
The pluckable foams are just as expensive. These seem far more configurable
foamboard and pins for $100. cool.
its actually very cool
+PHILM I have 10 pelicans. just gonna make a foam insert for each. 😂
This should be $39.99 at most.
Just because a lot of us own thousands in gear, doesn't mean we're reckless with our money.
hundreds of dollars for corrugated plastic and foam and they dont even have the outer edge as a single piece, wow
I bought a trekpak for 100 bucks including a case ^))
