I don't really see why people keep on making a fuss about the AESA radar, because really without the AAM-4 the F-2 won't be all that much better than any top tier jets we have right now. Current top tier NATO radars can already lock all the way to 20 km, which is like the maximum effective range for the Sparrow, so really it won't make much of a difference when we already have Su-27 and Mig-29s spamming R27ER 20+ km away. Also do note that F-14s can detect planes that just take off.
I think it’s better against ground clutter. Unfortunately because of Russian bias the American sar missiles are trash. Like I don’t think the war thunder strat of fly low to dodge all missiles works in real life.
This is what I've been saying. It could have appeared instead of the f16aj because Gaijin could have limited it by weapon choice. The Ej kai has constantly received updated weapons to the point of being ridiculously high a br for a phantom. All I've heard is oh noooo AESA radar is impossible to defeat. Seriously put just cause the radar is insanely good like how the Ej kai had when it was the only f16 radar at the time makes having an AESA radar early with crap weapons is straight comedic. Hell even the R27ER is on a crap radar system is better than a fancy radar that can't even perform as a fancy radar to guide useable missiles.
@@guitarlover42 no it’s realistic but the height at which it happens is much higher then it is in real life and no plane would realistically fly that low because they’d ingest dirt and shit into their engines and crash
As a Japan main, it’s still a bit too early for the F-2 to arrive. Ik it wouldn’t get its best missiles on arrival, but the AESA radar it a lot more powerful than anything in game currently. We don’t even have PESA radars yet. I still do think the F-2 should be the first AESA radar in game (like in real life), but it’s too early rn. Maybe we get an early F-2 or something so we could get something more realistic than the F-16AJ though.
F-2A early variants only had AIM-7M's and AAM-3's, the same loadout as the current F-15J in game right now. It would be so easy to just nerf the AESA radar right now, and then when everyone else gets the AESA radars, they can remodel them to work the way they should. Hell, the F-16C Block 50 is supposed to have an AESA radar. They could just give the F-2A it's radar but nerfed to act like a PD radar, or they could just straight up give it a PD radar until all the other nations have it. IMO Japan needs it right now. Their only top tier jet at the moment is the F-15J and as of now, isn't even 12.7. And the F-16AJ isn't even as competitive with it's poorer missile kit with the 9L and the 7F's. Japan's hurting and they need to give them a buff. If not, then they should remodel the F-15J to actually be an F-15C like it's supposed to and give it the AAM-4's when fox-3's come out.
@@MoskusMoskiferus1611 Nah, Japan was the first to ever implement Active Electronically Scanned Array radars into their military equipment. I mean… we already have the F-16C block 50, and that plane should have an AESA radar… so i can actually see the implementation of the F-2 without any issue
Exactly. Even with an AESA radar, they can just nerf the radar for now until other nations get the radar and then they can remodel the radar and implement it with the correct model. Just make the radar a faster refresh rate PD radar and honestly I see no issue especially when the early F-2 never got the AAM-4 (Japanese fox-3), it had access to the same exact kit as the F-15J that's currently in game so it would literally just be an F-16AJ with the F-15J armament and better radar. It doesn't hurt especially if fox-3's are coming to the game next patch, the F-2 early wouldn't even have the fox-3's.
Yes, whenever 13.0 or 13.3 drops it we should expect it. The Radar and its Turning are the main upgrades, this would not only expand the Japanese tree which is what all Japanese players want, it would perform similarly to f16c's that are already in the game. It should be slightly lighter than an F16c, with an early variant carrying AAM3 and AIM7Ms , thats pretty standard nowadays, you might be living in the past a bit. AESA is definitely a new tier of radars, but it can easily be limited with having only 2-4 AIM7's and by not introducing the extremely dominant AAM4's until, like you said, similar options are introduced to other crafts. This also gives Gaijin room to be lazy and give us a F-2 late variant down the road.
It's more maneuverable then block 10s, atleast in rating for it's G-limit, with it going up to 10 instead of 9, also the engine produced 134 not 131kn, the dry load is 910kg heavier
AAM-4 A is an under licence Amraaam C variant If I'm not mistaking. IT's the AAM 4B that has the AESA radar. An A variant shoudn't be too strong when equivalent comes in the game. Until then, Japan could have temporarily the B variant of the amraam since they actually tested and qualified it on their aircraft. (without buying it tho)
